They lived in Bend for several years, then in Grosse Pointe, Mich., from 1940 to 1962. — For 27 years, they lived in Honolulu, Hawaii, where Mr. Bushong was president of — Kamehameha Schools. They returned to Medford in 1989.

Mrs. Bushong was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Medford and PEO — Sisterhood.

She enjoyed raising roses, needlework, mah-jongg, and bridge.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include four daughters, Joyce Ellis, , Janis Siemon, Elizabeth Armstrong, ., and Kathy — ; a brother, George Seymour, ; 12 grandchildren; — and 13 great-grandchildren.

Jerry Bushong, 55, of Sesser, died 7:13 p.m. April 23, 1999, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. Mr. Bushong was a retired coal miner. Born June 13, 1943, in Waltonville, he was a son of Virgil and Geraldine (Hoofer) Bushong. May 12, 1974, he married Nancy Mikulonis, who survives. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser with the Rev. Gene Outland officiating. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. today at Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral home in Sesser. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Geraldine Bushong of Waltonville, a son Charles Gale Bushong of Sesser; a brother Ray Bushong of Waltonville; and a sister, Geannie Hale of Waltonville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. He was affiliated with the Freewill Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Charles Bushong Scholarship Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.

She was a registered nurse at Franklin Hospital.


She was a member of Hazel Dell Freewill Baptist Church in Sesser.


Nancy was born 8 September 1950, in Du Quoin, to Pete and Ella Mae (Robinson) Mikulonis.
She married Jerry Bushong on 12 May 1974, and he preceded her in death 23 April 1999.


Survivors include children, Charles Gale and Wendi Bushong of Buckner; grandchild, Emily Crews; and brothers and sisters, Joe Robinson of Sesser, Denise Lewis of Thompsonville, and Jamie Mikulonis of Sesser.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.


Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday 19 July, in Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Robert John Bushong and daughter of the late William Brownell and Jessie Taylor
Brownell. She was also preceded in death by her son, John B. Bushong and
sisters, Ruth Bushong and Marion Taylor. Dot's early years were in
Greenfield, Mass. She graduated from American International College in Springfield,
Mass. She was an administrator with the Girl Scouts of America in Toledo,
Ohio, until her retirement. She and her husband moved to Highland Farms in
1994. She was a former board member of the Haywood County Public Library, a
former member of the Haywood County Literacy Council, former member of the
Haywood Arts Council, former board member of the Museum of N.C. Handicrafts,
member of the Swannanoa Valley Art and a member of Black Mountain AARP.
Dot loved her volunteer work at Highland Farms, she loved to play bridge and
to read. Dot was a member of the Tabernacle United Methodist Church, not
being able to attend, but always on their prayer list.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Barbara J.
Timar and her husband, Lester, of Vermilion, Ohio; sister, Lois Janssen of
Walnut Creek, Calif. ; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, in the
assembly room at Highland Farms with the Rev. Bel Campbell officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery in Vermilion, Ohio.

Born at Crawfordsville, he was the son of W. Dean and Dorothy (Stewart) Bushong.

He was a 1971 graduate of North Putnam High School.

He married Clarice G. Roberts, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Bret A. Bushong and Matthew R. Bushong, both of Aurora, Ill.; his father, Crawfordsville; and brothers Kim Bushong and wife Donna Kay, Peoria, Ariz., Scot Bushong and wife Terri, Russellville, and Eric Bushong and wife Sandy, Schererville.

He was preceded in death by his mother and stepmother Ardith Bushong.
