His parentage is established by several family land transactions.
On 8 July 1715 Samuel Brush drew a man's wages for harvesting at Lloyd's Neck, according to the account books of Henry Lloyd.
In 1715 he served in Capt. Edward Higbee's militia company
He appears first in the land records on 18 May 1722, when he and Isaac Brush were partners in Neguntatague lands. In 1725 he purchased land from Stephen Brush, in 1727 from Josiah Foster, and on 6April and 20 May 1730 he bought land from Joseph and Jonas Platt, respectively.
Samuel joined the Huntington church 29 July 1730.
Among deeds from his father is one dated 21 January 1739/1740 which conveyed West Hills property, land at Gentils Hollow and at Huntington South. "It is difficult to understand the suit between Samuel and Isaac Brush in January 1739/1740 over the maintenance of their father, then 86 years old.... While they were young men he gave them much land, and perhaps their action was for a final settlement of his estate while he was yet living."
Samuel served as a trustee of Huntington repeated 1734-1759. He was the first highway commissioner under the new law of 1740, and held that office for many years.
He was executor of Joseph Wood's will in 1747. On 29 August 1759 Samuel Brush was named executor in the will of his brother-in-law Ananias Carll. In 1761 he deeded his homestead at West Hills to his son Ananias Brush. That property remained in the family for many years.
The will of Samuel Brush was dated 17 March 1764 and proved 18 April 1764. It mentions a wife but does not name her; daughters Bersheba Brush, Phebe Fleet and Elizabeth Conklin, to whom he left one cow and 1/4 of the moveables. He mentions his grandchildren, Hannah and Mary, the children of deceased daughter Mary, wife of Jesse Plat, to whom he left 1/4 of his moveable estate. He also mentions"my three sons Ananias, John and Jesse Brush; " land given to son John Brush, home farm to son Jesse Brush, John Brush an executor. Samuel Brush

Phebe ("Carll") Carll was born about 1700.¹ She died in 1761, at age ~61.

In 1748 she was mentioned in the will of her aunt Phebe Tredwell, childless widow of Col. John Tredwell.

Martha Oldfield was born on 13 August 1714 in Queens County, New York. She and Samuel Brush were married on 30 December 1761.¹ She died on 24 August 1798, at age 84, in Huntington, Suffolk County, New York. She was buried in Old Burying Hill Cemetery, Huntington, Suffolk County, New York.
