CHRISTENING: From the 'Record of the Peaked Mountain Church': "1763, the following children were baptized in this church at the 'Pinquit Moundyn,' in Virginia, on Wednesday, August 3, after the sermon: John Peter Risch of Charles and Maria Elisabeth, nee Suess". However, no birth date is given with the baptism record.

BIOGRAPHY: According to Dick Shorr and Thomas Burke of the Ohio state Auditor's Office, John Rawles and JOHN RUSH first filed on land in Ross County in the Northwest Territory (this portion laterbecame Ohio) on July 9, 1801. They listed their residence at time of entry as Ross County (which later became Pickaway County.) They paid $2 an acre for all of Section 12 and most of Section 13, Township 3, Range 22, Worthington Survey. The land totaled 1,183 acres. Their initial payment was $591.80. This was 1/4 of the total due--the balance was $1775.40. This land was later to become part of Pickaway County when it was incorporated in 1810.

George Rush bought 350 acres in Lincoln County, North Carolina, June 17, 1785 on the North East side of south fork of Catawba River for 200 pounds. Home site near an excellent spring on property. Grave stone near spring engraved, "Sacred to the Memory of Molly Rush who died 12 November 1799, aged 41 years." Sometime after 1820, George Rush and some of his married children moved to Western North Carolina 8 March 1823, bought 295 acres (Grant #9 Cherokee division) on West bank of Tennessee River. Recorded in Book B, p. 125 Haywood County, now known as Macon County, grant cost $1,230.65.
