Rachel (Bryant) Bushong, age 90, of Marshall, died at her home on Tuesday, October 21, 2003.

Mrs. Bushong was born Dec. 4, 1912 in Marshall Township to Joe and Kate (Hassebrock) Bryant. She has lived in the Marshall and Convis Township areas all of her life. She graduated from Marshall High School.

She was married on July 5, 1941 in Bryan, Ohio to Max D. Bushong. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1991. Mrs. Bushong was well known for her knowledge of antiques. She did many appraisals, and also recently taught a class in antiques for Marshall Community Education. She had also worked at Dreamers Furniture.

She was a member of the Marshall Historical Society, and the Mary Marshall Chapter of Daughters Of The American Revolution. She was very active as a volunteer during many annual Home Tours, and also actively cared for the Governor's Mansion on S. Marshall Avenue for many years. Of course she loved antiquing, and her home. Surviving are 3 grandchildren, John Bushong of Marshall, Eric (Cathy) Bushong of Crest Hill, IL, and Pam Bushong of Bourbonnais, IL; 2 great-grandchildren, Stephanie Bushong and Anna Bushong; and a special niece Margaret Parker and her family of Marshall, who have helped care for Rachel during her illness; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death also by her son, Tom Bushong, her sister, Lois Maisner, and brother, Joe Bryant.

Friends may call at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Thursday from 3PM to 6PM. Private services for the family will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to Oaklawn Hospice. Assistance with memorials is available at Kempf Funeral Home.
