Mable Russell, 84, of Gainesville, MO passed away on 15 November 2013 at the West Vue Nursing & Rehab Center in West Plains, MO. She was born on 27 May 1929 in Hiwasse, AR to William “Bill” and Nettie (Bushong) Scribner.
Mable married John Russell on 2 September 1954. Mable was a Christian and loved to sew, crochet and embroidery. She also loved animals, especially cats, and enjoyed feeding the deer and birds.
Mable is survived by ten nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John; four brothers and two sisters.
A Graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, 18 November 2013 in the Smith Chapel Cemetery with Halbert Smith officiating. Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. He was a Sargent with the 6th Infantry Division, 1st Regiment.
Travis Bushong was awarded the BRONZE STAR for "meritorious achievement" against the Japanese on Luzon for action from January 9th to April 21. Sgt. Bushong was a section leader of a heavy machine gun platoon. Under his leadership, the section inflicted many casualties on the enemy. When his platoon was attacked by an enemy force estimated to be about 50 men, Sgt. Bushong, with utter disregard for his own safety, left his foxhole and personally directed the fire of all the machine guns, rifles and mortars that were available, successfully repulsing the enemy attack.
Married Helen "Louise" Whitsell in 1946.
After the war Travis Bushong worked for Steele Dairy and Meadow Gold and Hiland Dairy.

Funeral services for Eva Jessie Featherston, 90, Red Bud, Illinois and formerly of West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 12, 2014 in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Featherston died 5:38 a.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Oak Hill Nursing Home, Waterloo, Illinois. She was born August 26, 1923 at Hoxie, Arkansas to Gardner Houston Whitsell and Jessie Florence Little Whitsell. On July 15, 1950, she was married at Salem, Arkansas to Donald Ray Featherston who preceded her in death on January 29, 2007. During World War II, she worked at an ammunition plant and later she attended beauty school to become a beautician. Mrs. Featherston enjoyed crocheting and loved to cook and entertain family and friends. She was a member of the Church of God, Brandsville, Missouri.
She is survived by two children, Patricia Robert, husband, Carroll, Red Bud, Illinois and Steve Featherston, wife, Terri, Eagle Rock, Missouri; four grandchildren, Christopher Robert, wife, Jaime, Annette Rau, husband, Nathan, John Paul Robert, wife, Lindsey and Tracie Sipes, husband, Aaron; four great-grandchildren, Ava Rau, Hazel Rau, Lilly Robert and Luke Robert; one sister, Georgia Acklin, husband, Don, West Plains, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, one brother, Raymond Whitsell and wife, Mabel, and two sisters, Reva Blackshear and husband, Everett and Louise Bushong and husband, Travis, precede her in death.
Visitation will be from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 11th at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Union Hill Cemetery near Brandsville, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Hill Cemetery, Brandsville Church of God or Alzheimer’s Association and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Hazel E. Hurst, the daughter of Marion and Nancy E. (North ) Bushong was born Feb. 4, 1917 in Brixey, MO and passed to heaven on January 23, 210 at the age of 92 years, 11 months, and 19 days.

Hazel was a resident of Souder, MO for most of her life. She had lived in the Mtn. Grove area for the past 17 years. Hazel and Lee Hurst were united in marriage on July 31, 1935 in Gainesville, MO.

Hazel and Lee were blessed with three children. Hazel was a housewife and liked cooking, gardeneing and quilting. She was a member of the Souder Church of Christ in Souder, Missouri.
Hazel was preceded by her parents and husband Lee, and all of her brothers and sisters, she was the last of 10 children. Hazel is survived by two sons, Elmes and Shirley Hurst of Mtn.Grove, Argene and Judy Hurst of Mulvane Kansas, and daughter Mrs Eilene Partee and husband Curtis of Bull Shoals Arkansas, 6 Grandsons and 2 Granddaughters 15 Great Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Hazel will be Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Souder Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 26, 2010 from 1 till 2 P.M. in the funeral home. Officiating will be E.J. Hampton. Memorials may be made to Souder Cemetery. Max D. Bushong, 80, of 18600 16 Mile Rd., Marshall, died at his home Wednesday, June 5, 1991, following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Bushong was born April 26, 1911, in Hudson, MI, to Ernest Bushong and Lulu Clark.
He was raised in Albion and was a graduate of Albion High School. He lived in Albion until his marriage to Rachel G. Bryant of Marshal in Bryan, OH. the couple lived at their Marshall address since then.
Mr. Bushong worked as a core maker all of his working life at Gale Mfg. in Albion until they closed in the early 1970s.
He was a life member of the Marshall Historical Society. He also worked many volunteer hours at the Governor's Mansion on S. Marshall Avenue for the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Surviving are his wife, Rachel: a son, Tom Bushong of Kankakee, Ill: three grandchildren, John Bushong, Eric Bushong, and Pam Bushong: a great-granddaughter, Stephanie Bushong: three brothers, Leland of VanWert OH, Robert and William of Albion; three sisters, Laura Kiefer of Leslie, Barbara Miller of Springport, and Zelda Sibal of Albion; and nieces and nephews.

Leland D. "Lee" Bushong, 79, died at 5:11 a.m. 24 October 1994, at Lutheran
Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born 21 December 1914 in
Hillsdale, Michigan to George E. and Lulu Clark Bushong. On 21 August 1943, he
married Grace L. Mellencamp, who died 1 August 1992. Mr. Bushong was a former
owner of the Bushong Ford Dealership in Van Wert until 1960 when he built the
Edgecreek (now Woods) Golf Course, Van Wert, which he operated until his
retirement in 1982. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Van
Wert. He was a World War II Army Veteran, having served in the Pacific
Theater. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Van Wert. Survivors
include a daughter, Janet L. Smith of Van Wert; two brothers, Robert Bushong
and William Bushong, both of Albion, Michigan; three sisters, Laura Kiefer
of Leslie, Michigan, Barbara Miller of Springport, Michigan, and Zelda Sibal
of Albion, Michigan, and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by
four brothers. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Alspach-Gearhart
Funeral Home, Van Wert. The Rev. Dr. H. Thomas Wilson will officiate. Burial
will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, the Van
Wert County Heart Association or to the Van Wert Area Visiting Nurses
Association. Occupations:
1. First job in 1933 peddled bread in the country.
2. Worked in corner gas station from noon until 9:00 p.m. 7 days per week. Got off at 6 on Thursdays. Was paid $5.00 per week.
3. Albion Malleable Company for 3 1/2 years doing casting inspection.
4. Workded at the Gale Mfg. Co. as a core maker for over 4 years
5. Worked in Dowagiac running a gas station for 1yr for Sinclair
6. Then bought a used 1 1/2 ton truck and workde as a freight handler for 5 trucklines (they unloaded and he did local deliveries)
7. Went back to work at Gale Mfg. Co. working from 8:00p.m. to 4:00 a.m. Hired a kid to make his freight pickup and he did the deliveries.
8. Went in the army and sold the trucking business.
9. After army went to work for Lonergan as a time study for 3 years (made space heaters) He and brothers Lynn and Bill all got laid off at the same time right before X-mas. Lynn went to Detroit, Bill to Post Office and Lee to Timkens for 3 1/2 years.
10. Went to Willow Run at Ypilanti as an industrial Engineer (time study man) for
11. Worked in a window air conditioning plant - didn't get along w/ plant mgr.
12. Sold Real Estate for Stanley Travoile in Jackson, MI (lived at Vandercook Lake)
13. Moved to Van Wert, Ohio and bought a Ford Dealership with brother Clark. Worked as the service manager for 5 years. (1956-1961)
14. Sold real estate for Bob Logan

CARL RAYMOND SCHOENAUER

LEIPSIC – Carl Raymond Schoenauer, 94, of Leipsic died 3:35 p.m. Tuesday,
September 22, 2009 at his residence.
He was born September 19, 1915 in Columbus Grove to the late Verlin and
Alice (Bushong) Schoenauer. On August 15, 1934 he married Zelma Myers and she
died June 19, 2004. He is survived by a son: Richard (Carolyn) Schoenauer
of Leipsic; a daughter: Sharon Peck of Leipsic; 6 grandchildren; 15
great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister: Helen Vogel of
Dixon, IL. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Jim Peck; and 2 brothers:
Charles Bushong and Bob Schoenauer.
Mr. Schoenauer was the owner/operator of Schoenauer’s Confectionary in
Leipsic and was retired from the N & W Railroad. He was a member of First
Christian Church, Leipsic, Leipsic Commercial Club and Leipsic Grange.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2009 at
Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Leipsic with Rev. Tim Eding officiating. Burial
will follow in Sugar Ridge cemetery, Leipsic. Visitation will be from 4 to 8
p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials can be made to the First Christian Church or Putnam County
Hospice.

Harriet Louise Bogart was born about 1852 in Ohio. She and Joseph Thomas Bushong were married on 22 February 1914 in Putnam County, Ohio. She died on 14 May 1937, at age ~85. She was buried in Miller Cemetery, Allen County, Ohio.

WOMAN IS REMOVED TO HOSPITAL IN ILLNESS

COLUMBUS GROVE, 19 November -- Mrs. Thomas Bushong, who has been ill for
some months, was removed Wednesday to Lima City Hospital, Lima, where she
was subjected to an operation for gall stones. The transfer was made in the
R. C. Harris invalid coach.
Mrs. Bushong was taken to the hospital two weeks ago for treatment, but
recovered and was brought here. It was decided Tuesday night the operation
was necessary to save her life, and she was taken to the hospital
Wednesday.
Mrs. Bushong is 75 years of age. She was the widow of William McElderry
before her marriage to Bushong.

Mary May Bushong was born on 25 May 1873 in Madison Twp., Hancock County, Ohio. She and Christian P. Welty were married on 26 July 1899 in Hancock County, Ohio. She and William Murry Holl were married on 24 December 1907 in Hancock County, Ohio. She died on 30 November 1930, at age 57, in Basswood, Colorado. She was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Sterling, Logan County, Colorado.
