Charles Roy Bushong was an Electrician. * Charles's lineage is uncertain, he's listed as a grandson with Thomas and Mary in the 1920 census, and on his death records his parent are stated to be Charles Franklin Bushong and Alice Bushong. There is a Charles Franklin Bushong of about the correct age, but he is accounted for, having a son Charles Franklin Bushong III. So I'm not sure. Just to make it more interesting, for the 1920 census, the father's place of birth is listed as Kentucky.....?

Page 499. No doubt you've gotten lost trying to figure out Charles Roy Bushong's full lineage. It is very mixed up - from period statements, not just bad genealogy. I've tried in the past and had to leave Charles' father as "name not stated" but I gave it another shot when you inquired.

Let's list all the facts to see what is there.

The first thing we can say as fact is: that Charles was a son of Alice and a grandson of Thomas Joseph Bushong and Mary Elizabeth Glancy.

Alice married Frank Rezende on May 13, 1912 and three years later married on April 29, 1915 Verlin R. Schoenauer.

Charles' birth record has not been found as Charles Bushong or Rezende, but from other records, Charles was born on November 16, 1912 in Putnam County, Ohio. His date of death on April 17, 1984, in Bowling Green, Wood, Ohio

Charles married first unknown and second Wilma Taylor on January 26, 1935, in Whitley County, Indiana, and third Mary Ruth Graham on July 13, 1946, in Wood County, Ohio. Note on the 1935 marriage record Charles stated he had been married one time previously.

Charles and Wilma had two daughters, Bonnie Jean in 1936 in Ohio and Patricia Ann on July 11, 1937, in Lucas County Ohio.

Charles and Mary had an unnamed son on May 23 1948 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio, who died the same day.

There could be other children.

No other Bushongs that could be the father were living in Pleasant Twp., Putnam County, Ohio in 1912 except Alice's Uncle James Alfred Bushong, (1871-1943), husband of Julia Marks. Of their six children, the first four were girls and the two sons were too young in 1912.

Now here are the confusing statements:

Charles states on his 1935 marriage record with Wilma, that his father was Thomas Bushong and his mother was Alice Allstater. For this, he is obviously calling his grandfather his father and using his aunt Lou Emma Bushong's married name as his mother's maiden name.

Charles states on his 1946 marriage record his father was Franklin P. Bushong and his mother was Alice M Bushong. Note: it was not Franklin P. Bushong, (as per FindaGrave) who died in a drowning accident on May 14, 1914. But he was married to a Sarah Marie Brenvan and lived in Girard, Trumbull County, Ohio, over 200 miles away from Pleasant, Putnam County, Ohio. On Charles' death record, his wife Mary states Charles' father was Charles Franklin Bushong.

So allowing that Mary was told by our Charles his father was Charles Franklin Bushong, then he stated three different fathers. This leads us to the possibility Charles either didn't know who his father was or was trying to hide it. However, it can be imagined that using Franklin P. as a father might have been Alice's idea since the drowning death would explain his absence and Alice certainly would have seen the newspapers reporting it.

Then here's an interesting coincidence. Alice and her brother, Charles Edgar, were rush-married two weeks apart, first Alice on May 13, 1912, and her brother on May 28, 1912. They both had children just six months later, Alice, had Charles on Nov 16, 1912, and Charles Edgar a daughter on Nov 3, 1912.

Could the father's name be Charles Edgar Bushong? Perhaps. But on the other hand, it might just be easier to just say his father's name was "not stated" rather than take and educated guess?

No other Bushongs that could be the father were living in Pleasant Twp., Putnam County, Ohio in 1912 except Alice's Uncle James Alfred Bushong, (1871-1943), husband of Julia Marks. Of their six children, the first four were girls and the two sons were too young in 1912.

Now here are the confusing statements:

Charles states on his 1935 marriage record with Wilma, that his father was Thomas Bushong and his mother was Alice Allstater. For this, he is obviously calling his grandfather his father and using his aunt Lou Emma Bushong's married name as his mother's maiden name.

Charles states on his 1946 marriage record his father was Franklin P. Bushong and his mother was Alice M Bushong. Note: it was not Franklin P. Bushong, (as per FindaGrave) who died in a drowning accident on May 14, 1914. But he was married to a Sarah Marie Brenvan and lived in Girard, Trumbull County, Ohio, over 200 miles away from Pleasant, Putnam County, Ohio. On Charles' death record, his wife Mary states Charles' father was Charles Franklin Bushong.

So allowing that Mary was told by our Charles his father was Charles Franklin Bushong, then he stated three different fathers. This leads us to the possibility Charles either didn't know who his father was or was trying to hide it. However, it can be imagined that using Franklin P. as a father might have been Alice's idea since the drowning death would explain his absence and Alice certainly would have seen the newspapers reporting it.

Then here's an interesting coincidence. Alice and her brother, Charles Edgar, were rush-married two weeks apart, first Alice on May 13, 1912, and her brother on May 28, 1912. They both had children just six months later, Alice, had Charles on Nov 16, 1912, and Charles Edgar a daughter on Nov 3, 1912.

Could the father's name be Charles Edgar Bushong? Perhaps. But on the other hand, it might just be easier to just say his father's name was "not stated" rather than take and educated guess?

Mary Ruth Graham was born on 30 April 1915 in Athens, Athens County, Ohio. She and Charles Roy Bushong were married on 13 July 1946 in Wood County, Ohio. She died on 22 July 1990, at age 75, in Bowling Green, Wood County, Ohio. She was buried in Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, L:ucas County, Ohio.

Luther Wayne Pendleton, 68, Eldon, died Wednesday at St. Mary’s Health
Center. He was born April 30, 1927, in Iberia, the son of Luther and
Edith Grosvenor Pendleton. He was married March 26, 1983, in Palmdale,
Calif., to Noma Pitchford, who survives of the home.

A Marine Corps veteran, he worked as a structural assembler with
Lockheed Aircraft in Palmdale and Burbank, Calif., from 1971-1990. Upon
retiring, he moved to Eldon. He was a member of Oak Street Church of
Christ.

Other survivors include: two sons, Barry Pendleton, Tehachapi, Calif.,
and Bruce Pendleton, McCall, Idaho; four stepsons, LeRoy Bushong, San
Fernando, Calif., James Bushong, Burleson, Texas, Corbin Bushong, Lee’s
Summit, and Mike Bushong, Pekin, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Nina Mack,
Ferndale, Calif.; one brother, Paul Leo Pendleton, Salisbury, Md.; one
sister, Ina Allen, Florissant; 17 grandchildren and 23
great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.
Minister Jeff Little will officiate. Burial will be in Smiths Chapel
Cemetery, Gainesville. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday.

NINA SUE (BUSHONG) MACK

Nina Sue (Bushong) Mack was born on 8 August 1943 in Gainesville, Missouri and passed away peacefully at home in Ferndale, California on 9 August 2013, at the age of 70.
She fought a long battle with Lyme's disease and many other ailments.
Nina shared the home 32 years with her husband Patrick Mack.
Nina has a surviving daughter Brenda Russell and a son, Shane Leland and one deceased daughter.
Nina also has 4 surviving sibling brothers: Leroy Bushong of Southern California, James Bushong of Burleson, Texas, Corbin Bushong of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Michael Bushong of Pekin, Illinois. Nina also has 9 nephews and 6 nieces and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Nina loved to split and stack firewood for many years as her husband worked in the woods logging and always brought home wood almost every day to keep them supplied with plenty of wood for winter. Nina always had a smile on her face, no matter how much pain she was in. Nina was cremated as requested and two memorials were held for her, first on 17 August 2013 and second on 24 August 2013, attended by many friends and family. We will all miss you dearly.
Arrangements were under the care of Goble's Fortuna Mortuary.

Doran Livingston was born. He and China Bell Bee Bushong were married. He died after 2013.
