Mr. Editor: On the 2nd day of August 1855, in Cass County, Texas, Mrs. Bushong, late of Pickens county, Alabama gave birth to a female child having two distinct heads and faces. The heads are united at the earls, only one ear being visible between them. The eyes are blue, stand wide open, and one pair are crossed. The next is very short, the body well proportioned in length, but one third broader than usual across the chest. The heads are bare except a slight streak of hair across them from ear to ear. The child's birth was premature, supposed to have been caused by exposure in travelling to Texas. It was dead when born, and I presume may be seen at any time, at Dr. B. Y. Patterson's Cherokee settlement, Cass County, Texas (who has it preserved in alcohol) where I saw it myself, a few days ago.

Mrs. Helen E. Bushong, 55, of 1768 Mansfield - Lucas Rd., wife of Robert E. Bushong, died early Sunday morning in Mansfield General Hospital following an extended illness.
Mrs. Bushong was born May 2, 1915 in Altoona, Pa. and lived in this area for the past 30 years.
Surviving besides her husband are her mother: Mrs. Cleo Thurman of Marion; her father: Louis LaBell of Highland Park, Mich,; and one brother: Robert Hartzer of Marion.
Services will be held at the Wappner Funeral Home, Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Zion Bloom Cemetery, Hancock County.

William E. Jones (Bill) 1923 - 2010 Bill was born February 26, 1923 in Conway, Arkansas. He was the youngest son of John Samuel and Dorothy Jones. Grandpa went home peacefully and within minutes of his final cherished visit with his girls on February 28, 2010. Bill proudly served his country in the Army for 21 years as a medic. His adventures carried him around the globe to Germany, Korea, Thailand and England with intermittent stops across the US. While stationed in Kansas 1952, Bill met the love of his life, Virginia. They were married in July 1953, and together raised their three children, David, Warner and LaDon. After retiring from the Army in April 1966, the family settled in Bakersfield, California. Bill's post retirement versatility served him well. Ever the people- person whose unwavering personal ethics were his trademark; he took pride in each of his positions as a security officer, sales representative, office clerk and as a transport driver for the Kern County Coroner's office. Bakersfield College and Mobile Chemical Company were among Bill's former employers. Bill became a Christian in the early 1970'S. With his Savior as his foundation, Bill's life centered between his family and many friends at Highland Church of Christ on Rosedale Hwy. His ministry included driving the Joy Bus for the church, safely delivering the children to and from Sunday school for many years. He also enjoyed his self-appointed status as the man-in- charge of the "Secret Sister "gift exchange, gently reminding the ladies not to forget the importance of their friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and John Samuel Jones; his son, Warner Allen White; his brothers, Emmett and Carl Jones. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia Jones; his son, David Jones; his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Orville Scholl; granddaughter and husband, Tammy and Mike Patterson; granddaughter and husband, Melissa and Donnie Britt; grandsons, Allen and Clinton White; great grandchildren, Jeffrey, Shelby, Kendra, Austin, Dylan, Tyler, and Emma. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was loved by everyone who knew him, and he never met a stranger. We love you grandpa, you have filled our lives with so many loving memories. We'll miss you! Visitation for Bill will be Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 4:00-8:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary (9109 Kern Canyon Rd.).
