I, Bettie Bushong being of sound mind do make this my last will and testament, revoking all other wills by me whensoever made.
1st: I devise to my beloved Nephew J. W. Bushong all of my real estate situated in the County of Botetourt Virginia.
2nd: I will to my friend Sallie Britt, wife of Robert Britt, a bed and all of my wearing apparel.
3rd: I will all of my household and Kitchen furniture to my Nieces, Julia Moomaw, Sallie Bushong, and Sallie Painter and direct that it be equally divided between them.I will to my beloved Nephews Henry Clay Bushong, J. W. Bushong, and my Nieces Julia Moomaw, Sallie Bushong, and Sallie Parish all of the money notes, Bonds or bills of credit which I may have at my death, and not requested to pay my debts, doctor bills or burial expenses, to be equally divided between them. 28th Infantry Regiment completed its organization at Lynchburg, Virginia, in June, 1861. Its members were raised in the counties of Botetourt, Craig, Bedford, Campbell, and Roanoke. Many were captured at Sayler's Creek, and 3 officers and 51 men surrendered on April 9, 1865. The field officers were Colonels Robert C. Allen, Robert T. Preston, and William Watts; Lieutenant Colonels Samuel B. Paul and William L. Wingfield; and Majors Michael P. Spesard and Nathaniel C. Wilson. [1]

CYCLISTS RIDE INTO THE RAPIDS

EDWARD BUSHONG HAS AN EXCITING EXPERIENCE AT NIAGARA FALLS.

NIAGARA FALLS, NY, 17 August -- Edward Bushong had a starling experience yesterday at the falls. He was riding a bicycle across the reservation, headed for the bridge to Bath Island. There is quite a grade leading to the falls end of the bridge, and Bushong rushed down it at high speed. About 150 feet from the bridge he took his fee off the pedals and coasted. The wheel rushed onto the bridge and struck the railing, and both man and wheel went over into the rapids. At this point the waters rush to the falls with terrific speed, and the spectators expected to see the young man swept over the cataract, but fortunately, he scrambled to the bank, where he fell in a heap.
He received a gash on the head from contact with a rock when he went into the rapids. He was dazed by his adventure and had to be taken home in a carriage. The bicycle struck about ten feet from the place where Bushong did and was recovered. One of the wheels was knocked to pieces, and the iron of the bridge that was struck by the wheel was broken.

Minnie Undril Holland was born in 1876 in Virginia. She and Charles Edward Bushong were married on 25 November 1915 in District of Columbia, Maryland. She died on 12 June 1926, at age ~50, in District Of Columbia. She was buried in Orlean United Methodist Church Cemetery, Fauquier County, Virginia.

ST MARK'S CHURCH IS SCENE OF WEDDING
St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Lappans, was the scene of a pretty but
quiet wedding on Monday afternoon, 29 March, at 4:30 o'clock, when Miss Helen
Louise Raines, daughter of Mrs. Williams, of Fort Waxahachie, Texas, became
the bride of Mr. Jacquelin Holland Bushong, son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Charles E. Bushong, Breathedsville. The ceremony was performed by the Rev.
Walter B. McKinley and Mrs. McKinley played the nuptial music.
The bride wore a gardenia corsage on her light blue dress. Brown
accessories completed her outfit.
A small reception followed the ceremony at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E.
Stuart Bushong, Lappans.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Bushong are employed in the State Department,
Washington, D. C., where they will reside. Mr. Bushong was graduated from the
Hagerstown High School, St. John's College and is attending law school in
Washington.

Elkins College and the law school at George Washington University. Ann M. Bushong

WILLIAMSPORT - Ann McKinley (Fritzi) Bushong, 86, of 154 N. Artizan St., Williamsport, Md., died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at Williamsport Retirement Village.

Born Jan. 19, 1917, in Westernport, Md., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Walter B. McKinley and Kitty Mariah Stigers McKinley

She was preceded in death by her husband, E. Stuart Bushong, in 1968.

She was a graduate of Hagerstown High School in the class of 1932 and a graduate of Hood College in 1936 with a bachelor of arts degree. In her senior year, she became a member of the Frederick Female Seminary Alumni Association in English. She was president of her class at Hood College from her sophomore through senior years, and a member of the American Association of University Women.

She served on the vestry at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. She was active in many community and civic organizations. She was the founder of the Teen Club at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. She was an avid golfer and tennis player. She served on and chaired several committees as a member of Fountain Head Country Club.

She is survived by a daughter, the Rev. Ann Brooke Bushong of Brooklyn Heights, N.Y.; a son, the Rev. Edward Stuart Bushong Jr. of Chester, Va.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Anne O. Weatherholt and the Rev. Charles R. McGinley will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mark's Church Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 18313 Lappans Road, Boonsboro, MD 21713-1918.
