Lucille Mary Groves, 80, of Goshen, died at 5:52 pm on Friday, December 14, at Goshen Health Hospital.

She was born on November 19, 1938 in Kendallville, to Samuel Sr. and Clara (Bauman) Bushong. On October 24, 1964, in Syracuse, she married Gordon Groves; he survives.

Survivors in addition to her husband are two daughters, Meribethe Lawton of Goshen, Carijo (Erik) West of Denver, CO; son, Randall Groves of Goshen; step grandson, Freddie Lawton; step great grandsons, Matthew and Colton Lawton; sister, Linda (Stan) Nicolai of Syracuse; brother, Sam Bushong, Jr. of Warsaw. She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Robert Lawton; three brothers, Garry, Larry, and William Bushong.

Lucille was a member of First United Methodist Church in Middlebury where she had served as church secretary. She was a 65 year member of Grange and served as the state Women's Activity chairman. She was a homemaker, a building aide for 23 years at Heritage Middle School and the score board operator for 20+ years at Northridge High School.

Lucille was also a 4-H leader for 33 years and served as past president of the Elkhart County Extension Homemakers.

Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Friday, December 21 at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 22 at First United Methodist Church, Middlebury.

Burial will be in Cornell Cemetery, Goshen.

Memorials may be given to Lake Grange or First United Methodist Church.

Irvin R. Bushong, 60, of 1148 Holtwood Road, Holtwood, died unexpectedly Saturday morning at the Roper Hospital in Charlestown, South Carolina.
He retired on 31 December after 26 years of employment with Westinghouse Electric Company in Hunt Valley, Maryland.
He served with the United States Army Corps of Engineers in Germany during the Korean War.
He was the husband of Betty Collars Bushong. They were married 36 years on 25 July.
Born in Baltimore, he was a son of the late George and Emma Mosberger Bushong.

---------------------------. Irvin and Betty were neighbors as children, both residing on Sydney Avenue in Baltimore (at 2247 and 2245 respectively) by 1940. Two months before her 17th birthday, Betty married Alexander Kallay on 30 July 1947, and together they had three children: Sandra, Alexander and Charles. Later, Betty would marry Irvin (25 July 1958) and he would legally adopt these three children. Betty recounted that when she went to Kallay he was incarcerated, and that he signed over his parental rights while in the jail cell. Robert Lee (1957) and Patricia Lynn (1958) were the only biological children of Betty & Irvin. For some additional information, Irvin was very creative, and loved woodworking and painting. I have many animals, shelves, stools, etc. that he built and painted, and I also have his desk that he painted at during my childhood. He loved animals, and my mom grew up surrounded by ponies, donkeys, mules, goats, etc. My mom actually experienced that "wake up on Christmas morning to a pony under the tree" moment, and later rode said pony around the living room. He loved cars, and my uncle Bobby still has his Model T. Irvin suffered a heart attack (his third) while on vacation with Betty in South Carolina.

Katherine was born in 1917 in Kentucky. She and Drewa Gladwell ("Red") Bushong were married. She died.

I don't know a lot about my ancestors, but want to find out all I can. My father's parents owned land in Glasgow KY and were farmers. They sold their land and moved to Indiana in 1950. My grandfather's name was Willie Bushong, his wife was Gertie Bushong. My father's name was James William Bushong and my mother's name was Dorothy Ellen (Jackson) Bushong .

Wilbur C. Bushong, retired Staff Sergent USAF, 69, died 22 December 1999. Survived by his wife Carol; sons, David (Bunny) Bushong and Bud (Toni) Howard; daughter, Rita Bushong; grandchildren, Amanda Bushong, Colleen Coss and Bridget Alese, Tony and Daniel Bushong and Dylan Howard; uncle, Gilbert Holinghaus (Nelda) and aunt, Wilma Roberts of Mount Vernon, IL, and many cousins. Wil was a kind and soft spoken gentleman, with a great sense of humor. His blue eyes sparked when he smiled and you couldn’t help but smile back at him. We’ll miss you, Wil, but your smile will remain in our hearts always. The family would like to express many, many thanks to the staff of the VA Hospital, Nursing Home and Hospice for their care and support. Cryptside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, 29 December 1999 at 11:00 a.m. in East Lawn Palms Mausoleum of Good Shepherd with Military Honors by the Disabled American Veterans. John E. Bushong age 82 of Galesburg, Illinois passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 12:40 AM at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois.

John was born the son of Arvid C. and Leona A. (Stronquist) Bushong on April 12, 1930 in Galesburg, Illinois. He married Roberta L. "Bertie" Hatch on September 17, 1950 in Knoxville, Illinois. She preceded him in death on January 7, 2006. He later remarried.

Surviving are his three daughters: Mindy (Roger) Thurman of Abingdon, Illinois, Jolene (Doug) Albright of Knoxville, Illinois, Amy (Gary) Walker of Gilson, Illinois, two sons: Lindsay (Kelly) Bushong of Pekin, Illinois and Brian (Annette) Bushong of Germany. He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one sister Cardyn McLaren of Knoxville, Illinois.

John was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister, Jane Peterson.

John was very proud of his military background he served in the United States Army during the Korean War Conflict. He received many medals including the Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal and the UN Service Medal. John was also a lifelong member of the American Legion

John truly loved watching his grandkids play school sports and he attended as many events as possible. He coached little league baseball in Abingdon for many years and he was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Bulls fan. In his spare time he enjoyed collecting baseball memorabilia.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Knoxville Cemetery in Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. Judy Doyle will be officiating.
