Charles Franklin Bushong, of Chicago, Illinois, died March 18, of heart
disease. Those surviving him are one son, Charles Franklin Bushong, Jr.,
of Canton; two grandchildren; two sisters, Miss Verna Bushong, of Chicago,
Illinois; Miss Carrie Bushong, of Circleville; two brothers, Scott Bushong,
of Streeter, Illinois and Elmer Bushong of Kingston.

Charles Franklin Bushong was born in 1866 in Kingston, Ross County, Ohio. He and Helen Josephine ("Nellie") Hitchcock were divorced. He and Helen Josephine ("Nellie") Hitchcock were married on 28 November 1889 in Cook County, Illinois. He died on 18 March 1934, at age ~68, in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. --The funeral services for Charles Franklin Bushong of Chicago, Ill son of William and Pheba Jane Bushong deceased were held at the Shannon Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. V C Stump officiating.
--Mr Bushong was born in Kingston on August 20 1864 died March 18th 1934 at his home in Chicago, Ill from a heart disease.
--He moved to Chicago when a young man and operated a barber establishment in Chicago to 40 yrs.
--He leaves to mourn his loss a son, Charles Franklin second and two grandchildren, Virginia and Charles Franklin Bushong third: a sister Carrie Bushong of Circleville, two brothers, Scott Bushong of Streeter, Ill and Elmer Bushong of Kingston and a host of other relatives and friends.
--The pallbearers were: Harry Wright, MH Buchwalter, Edward Dunkle, Tom Hoover, Jack Brundige and Ed Sims
Interment was made in the Mt Pleasant Cemetery, Kingston under direction of H B Shannon.

KINGSTON THE HOME OF MAN FOUND AT REESE'S

Was Half Paralyzed and Evidently Died of the Effects of Exposure -Name Was Bushong.

Columbus Ohio Dec 29.

--The dead body of the unknown man found in the stable of J C Peters at Reese Station yesterday morning was identified as that of W Berton Bushong age 41 Kingston by his brother Elmer, who viewed the body at Shaw's morgue last night.
--A card bearing the "W.B. Bushong" Kingston" led to his identification. It was found in the lining of his vest.
--The discovery of the dead man was made by Mrs Peters, who summoned her husbands, a car repairer, and he with the assistance of neighbors carried the body to the telegraph station of the Norfold and Western Railroad, where every effort was made to revive him.
--Corner Haines yesterday pronounced death due to starvation and exposure.
--Bushong was a farmer and was on the way to London to get work,
He was partially paralyzed on the left side and his speech was effected.
--It is thought, as he had been seen around Reese Station for several days, that he became starved and weakened owing to his inability to make himself understood.
--Bushong had five fingers and a thumb on each hand and six toes on each foot.
--He is survived by nine brothers, and six of whom are likewise outfitted, as was also his father>
--The body will be shipped to the home of this mother, Mrs Phoebe Bushong this afternoon and the burial will take place tomorrow in Kingston..

Elmer Bushong

Elmer ( Larkey) Bushong 76 who had 5 fingers and a thumb one each hand and six toes on each foot, died at noon Sunday in Chillicothe hospital whee he had been admitted Friday following a stroke.
A native of Kingston where he was born June 10 1873 he had lived here for five years.
At the time his death, he resided at 12 East Water Street.
The son of William and Phoebe (Mattix) Bushong he never married.
Surviving is a sister Miss Verna Bushong Kingston.
The Rev Charles Elkjar will officiate at the service to be held a t 2 pm Tuesday from Le E Hill Funeral Home, Kingston.
Burial will be in Mr Pleasant Cemetery.

Walter Scott Bushong was born on 30 January 1877 in Kingston, Ross County, Ohio. He and Mary Teresa Dooley were married on 28 October 1908 in Colorado Springs, El Paso, Colorado. Walter S. Bushong, 72, former local resident, died in the Shady Elms rest home in Chillicothe February 22, 1949 following an illness of seven months. His home was at 340 S. Eighth Street in Chillicothe.

He was born in Kingston, Ohio, January 30, 1877, a son of William Anderson and Phebe Jane (Maddox) Bushong. He married Mary Dooley in Colorado Springs, Colorado on July 16, 1907. She died here on January 21, 1939.

Four children were born to the couple who remain and are: Richard Bushong and Mary Coots, both of Chillicothe; Fred Bushong of Beecher; and William Bushong of DeKalb. There are three grandchildren; and a sister and brother: Verna and Elmer Bushong, both of Kingston, Ohio.

He was a telegraph operator for the Santa Fe railroad in this city for 30 years, moving to Chillicothe a few years ago.

"The funeral services over the remains of Dr. C. P. Bushong, who died at his home in Mt. Moriah on Thursday, May 12, were conducted on last Thursday by Rev. Richardson, pastor of the Christian Church at Ridgeway, who was a particular friend of the deceased. The burial was at the Goshen Cemetery, being according to the beautiful ritualistic ceremonies of the Masonic Fraternity. Dr. Bushong was a member of Mercer Lodge No. 35, A.F.& A.M., of this city, and about twenty-five of his brethren were present at his funeral.

Dr. Bushong was well known as a successful physician in North Missorui. He came to Mercer County in March, 1877, from Noble County, IN. He was born on Jan 4, 1844, in Columbiana County, OH. He made his home here for two years teaching school in connection with his medical practice. At the end of that time he located at Mt. Moriah, where he remained for one year and then returned to Mercer County, locating at Modena, where he remained for many years, re-locating at Mt. Moriah a number of years before his death. On October 13, 1881, he was married to Miss Susie Perkins, youngest daughter of Reuben and Maria Perkins. To this union four children were born, three of whom with their mother are left to mourn the deah of their father and husband."

C. P. Bushong, M. D., was born January 4, 1844:, in Columbiana
County, Ohio, and is the second of a family of six children born to
Jacob and Rebecca (Briggs) Bushong. In 1854 the parents moved
to Williams County, Ohio, and in 1859 left that county and moved
across the line into Noble County, Ind., where the father purchased
a farm three miles south of Rome City. In the spring of 1876 they
immigrated to Mercer County, Mo. , and settled upon a farm in the
northern part of Madison Township, where he engaged in farming
until his death in February, 1887. The mother is now a resident of
the same place. C. P. was educated at the common schools of Ohio
and in Kendallville, [Ind. , and at the age of seventeen began life for
himself. He worked upon a farm, clerked in a general store at
Kendallville, attended school at intervals until nineteen years of
age, and then taught school a number of terms in Noble County, Ind.
He then began the study of medicine under Dr. W. H. Franks, at
Kendallville, with whom he read for two years, after which he studied
with Dr. W. F. Endley at Brimfield in the same county for two years.
In the fall of 1867 he attended lectures at Eush Medical College,
Chicago, and after the close of the session, commenced to practice
his profession at Brimfield. At the expiration of two years he
went to Napanee, Elkhart Co. , Ind. , where he resided until 1877
engaged in the practice of his profession. In the spring of that year
he located with his parents in Mercer County, Mo. , and made that his
home for two years, teaching in connection with his medical practice.
During the two temas of 1879-80 and 1880-81 he attended the
College of Physicians and Surgeons at Keokuk, from which insti-
tution he graduated and received his diploma. He then spent one
year at Mount Moriah, Harrison County, and then returned to Mercer
County, soon after permanently locating at Modena, where he now
enjoys a fine practice. Susia A., daughter of Reuben and Maria
(Rhea) Perkins, was born in Mercer County March 4, 1862, and
married to Dr. Bushong October 13, 1881. To this union two chil-
dren have been born : Etna Blanche and Jacob Earle. The Doctor is a
successful and well-to-do citizen, and has established a good practice
in Mercer, Harrison and Grundy Counties. He lives in a pretty
house in Modena, and although he has not long been a resident in
Mercer County, is well known and one of the popular physicians of
the county. He is a Republican, and cast his first presidential vote
for U. S. Grant in 1868. He is a member of Mercer County Lodge,
A. F. & A. M. and Princeton Lodge, I. O. O. F.
