EMMA BARTLEY BUSHONG, 94, died Friday night, 14 January 1983, at her home,
Rt. 3, Tompkinsville.
Born 25 February 1888, the daughter of the late Martha Susan Bartley Hume,
she spent her entire life in the Mt. Gilead community of Monroe County. On
29 September 1904 she was married to Hudson Kirkpatrick Bushong, who died
in 1955. She was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald Bushong. She was a
member of the Liberty Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Dr.
William R. Bushong and his wife Sue, Tompkinsville; a daughter in law,
Grace Bushong, with whom she lived; a sister, Mary Rush, Waynetown IN; a
brother, Joe Hume, Tompkinsville; 7 grandchildren; Blanche Trimble and
Carolyn Jordan, both of Tompkinsville; Bill and Paul Bushong, both of
Lexington; John Bushong, Madisonville; Susan bushong, Nashville TN; and Bob
Bushong, Glasgow. there are 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services were
conducted by Rev. Gary Embry and Rev. Billy Burton at the Yokley Funeral
Home Chapel on Sunday afternoon, 16 January, with burial at the Mt. Gilead
Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bill, Paul, John and Bob Bushong; John D. Jordan
and Joe Trimble. The family has requested that memorials be in the form of
donations to the local library or to a favorite charity. (Tompkinsville,

FOREST -- Thomas O. Jolliff, 88, of 406 E. Gage St., Forest, died at 1:10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000 at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton. He was born Feb. 27, 1912 in Williamstown to Merlin J. and Bessie B. (Bushong) Jolliff. He married Ruth M. Cole on Oct. 30, 1932, and she died Sept. 27, 1972.
Surviving are a son, Allen of Forest; three daughters, Virginia Lawrence, Bessie Tracy and Mrs. Gordon (Alice) Brown, all of Forest; 18 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Florilla Snyder, Arlington. He was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
Mr. Jolliff was a retired farmer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shields Funeral Home, Forest, with Joe Shields officiating. Burial will be in Hueston Cemetery, Forest.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
