Harrison Sayre, of Co. G, enrolled Oct. 16, 1861 in Springfield by Capt. Cuppy as a Private; mustered in Nov. 22, 1861 in Ft. Wayne by Lt. Stansbury at age 23. He was 5Œ 5.50 tall, dark complexion, black eyes, and dark hair. Born Mar. 1839 in Jackson Co., VA, employed as a carpenter, married, resident of Kendallville, in Noble Co., IN. Mustered out at the end of the war Sep. 14, 1865 in Nashville, TN with rank of Private. Notes: Son of Jacob and Mary from VA. Transferred from Co. E to G Jan. 2, 1862. Fought at Shiloh, Stone River. General Court Martialed Mar. 26, 1863, for refused guard duty Mar. 9, 1863; lost pay for 2 months ($26) and to wear a barrel 4 hours per day for 15 days. Received gunshot wound to left leg at Chickamauga; sent to Nashville Hospital Sep. 25, 1863, and on furlough Oct. 29, 1863. Reenlisted Jan. 1, 1864. In Nashville Hospital Aug. 11, 1864, for gunshot wound to left eye. Promoted Corporal Dec. 1, 1864, and returned to Private May 31, 1865, at his request. Married Lucinda Bushong 1871 in Noble Co., IN and Verona E Weber 1896. Harrison H. Sayre filed Invalid Pension Application to receive Pension Certificate #152092 Dec. 1, 1876. They claim that one Jacob Bushong, late of said couonty deceased, was seized of this tract, and by will , "to his 3 sons, Joseph, Benjamin, & James, tho be equally divided between them." Petitioners state that said Margaret Taylor, late Bushong, is the daughter of the said Jacob Bushong and sister of full blood to Rachel Vezey, late Bushong, and Elizabeth Vezey, late Bushong, and sister of the half blood to the said Joseph, Benjamin, & James. Petitioners state that said James, since the death of his father Jacob, died siezed of 1/3 of the tract, leaving his heirs: Margaret Taylor, Rachel Vezey, Elizabeth Vezey, Joseph Bushong and Benjamin Bushong, all of whom reside in Fayette Co., and that Joseph & Benjamin are minors and that their mother, Esther Bushong, is their guardian.
