JOHN A. BUSHONG
John A. Bushong, 64, of 1922 Pryor Avenue, died Tuesday morning in a
local hospital. He was a retired truck driver, life long area resident and
veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret, two daughters, Mrs. Sue Crandall
of Honolulu and Mrs. Debra Lincks of Fort Smith; three sons, Bill of St.
Louis, John Thomas of Covington, Tennessee, and James David of Honolulu;
three sisters, Mrs. Rennah Thompson, Mrs. Eleanora Cate and Sallie Bushong, all
of Fort Smith; two brothers, Harvey of Fort Smith and Spratt of Texas;
seven grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Fentress Mortuary.

Rennah Mae Bushong was born on 11 January 1914 in Arkansas. She and Harvey Boyd Thompson were married. She died on 13 November 1999, at age 85, in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas. She was buried in Fort Smith National Cemetery, Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas.

Sallie Bushong, 68, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, 6 April 1988, in a
Fort Smith hospital. She was retired after 21 years of service as Army
sergeant first class and a member of Church of Christ.
Graveside services will be 2 pm Friday at United States National
Cemetery under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.
She is survived by a sister Rennah Thompson of Fort Smith; and several
nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.

Charles L. ("Charlie") Bushong was born on 21 September 1876 in Jefferson County, Illinois. He and Daisey Neona Lennington were married on 31 December 1895 in Blissville, Jefferson County, Illinois. He died on 18 March 1923, at age 46. He was buried in Linwood Cemetery, Paragould, Greene County, Arkansas.

West Mansfield Man Succumbs at Home Monday Evening.

Leon Doyle Bushong, 40, died at his home in West Mansfield, Monday at 5:30 p.m., following an illness of two weeks duration.

He was born June 12, 1907, in Williamstown, Hancock county, a son of Simon B. and Mary Park Bushong. The family moved to Logan county in 1915, and the deceased was a graduate of the class of 1927 from West Mansfield high school. He was never married.

Until his illness Mr. Bushong was a drill operator for J. & L. Snouffer, Inc., of Dublin.

He is survived by his parents, six sisters and five brothers. They are Mrs. Gail Fish, Ridgeway, Mrs. Noble C. (Cuba) McFarland, Bellefontaine, Mrs. Glenna Brown, Osborn, Mrs. Mary Tallman, Columbus, Mrs. Betty Furbush, Sandusky, and Miss Charlene Bushong, at home; Dwight Bushong, Dayton; Cloyce Bushong, Rushsylvania high school basketball coach, Foy Bushong, West Mansfield; Robert C. Bushong, Bellefountaine, and Everett Bushong, Coshocton. Remaining also are a half-brother, Lowell Bushong, of West Mansfield, and two half-sisters, Mrs. Cecil Musgrave, of Columbus Grove, and Mrs. Bessie Brayton, of Carey.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, at the West Mansfield Church of Christ, A.L. Buyers officiating. burial will be made in the cemetery at Williamstown.

The body will be taken late Tuesday evening from the Ballinger funeral Home, West Mansfield, to the family residence where friends may call until time for the services.

Dwight Dale Bushong was born on 1 April 1910 in Madison Twp., Hancock County, Ohio. He and Cora E. Chase were married. He died on 5 November 1971, at age 61. He was buried in Calvary Cemetery, Kettering, Montgomery County, Ohio.

Dwight D. Bushong, 61, 5301 Driftwood Circle, Dayton, died at 5 a.m. Friday in Good Samaritan hospital where he had been a patient several weeks.

He was born in West Mansfield, April 1, 1910, a son of Simon B. and Mollie Parks Bushong, was a retired school teacher and prior to his death was associated with the Mutual of New York Insurance Co.

The deceased was married to Cora Chase who survives with a son, Dale, Brookville; four grand-children; six sisters, Mrs. Earl Fish and Mrs. Earl Tallman, in Florida, Mrs. Bob Elliott, West Mansfield, Mrs. D. Lee Brown, Mrs. Noble C. McFarland and Betty Furbush, all of Bellefontaine; four brothers, Foy and Cloyce Bushong, West Mansfield, Everett Bushomg, Coshocton, and R. C. Bushong, Bellefontaine.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Calvary cemetery Dayton, by Rev. Richard Vantine. The funeral procession will form at 1 p.n. at the Baker funeral home, 5555 Philadelphia drive, at route 48.

He was born March 12, 1912, in Williamstown to Simon and Mary (Park) Bushong. He married Marcella Cahill in Bellefontaine Sept. 28, 1939, and she survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Jean Ann Bushong at home; five sisters, Mrs. Noble (Cuba) Mc Farland of Bellefontaine, Mrs. Lee (Glenna) Brown of West Liberty, Mrs. Earl (Mary) Tallman of Lake Worth, Fla., Betty Jane Furbush of Bellefontaine and Mrs. Robert (Charlene) Elliott of West Mansfield; two brothers, Everett of Coshocton and Robert of Bellefontaine.

Four brothers and three sisters are deceased.

He was a member of the West Mansfield Church of Christ, a retired farmer and retired bus driver with the Benjamin Logan Local schools. My wife Chelle, and I have just started researching the Bushong name and probably have some information that could be of some help. My Granddad was Everett Lee Bushong. Born Oct. 21, 1915, in West Mansfield, Ohio. He was one of twelve (12) children born to Simon B. Bushong and Mary L. Park. Mary was actually Simon's second wife, and there were three (3) children born of the first marriage to Rebecca Arnonld. Simon was born on Feb. 10, 1861, and is buried in Williamstown Cemetary, (Ohio?) Simon married his first wife Rebecca Arnold, June 6, 1891. After having the three (3) children Rebecca Arnold died in 1897.

Simon B. Bushong was the son of Isaac Bushong and Mary Clingerman. Isaac was born on December 19, 1826, Columbiana County, Ohio. Isaac married Mary Clingermon on March 4, 1858. Isaac Bushong is one of the six children born to my Great Great Granddad, Augustine Bushong and Barbara Keller. Augustine was born in 1787. Barbara Keller was born in 1792 in Germany. Augustine died sometime prior to Aug 7, 1830.

According to my notes. Barbara Keller remarried an Abraham Myers on March 25, 1834. There is no mention of any children from this marriage. All the research we have done seems to suggest a breakdown in the information around this time period. This information is taken from a written account by my Granddad's sister Cuba Bell Bushong, born March 6, 1904. This should be enough to get the ball rolling, we also have much more info that may finally solve and help connect some missing links. Based on dates and time period for both, as well as the info I just saw on this posting, Hannah Keller and Barbara Keller could very well be sisters. Let us know,

Robert C. Bushong 63, of Hilltop, a real estate broker who with his wife Lois owned and operated the Fish and Farm Market here, died at 2;32 a.m. today, Dec. 2, (1986) in Mary Rutan Hospital.

The former owner of the Bushong Real Estate Agency, Mr. Bushong had opened the market on Ohio Route 540 in 1984. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Indian Lake Community Church in Russells Point and BPOE #132 in Bellefontaine. He was a former high school basketball official.

Born July 27, 1923, in West Mansfield, he was the son of the late Simon and Mary L. Park Bushong. He was united in marriage with Lois Ebbecke on June 22, 1947, in this city, and she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters and one son, Mrs. Michael (Therese) Kerns of St. Marys, Mrs. Donald K. (Tamara) Miller of Reynoldsburg and Charles Bushong of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren; one brother, Everett Bushong of Coshocton; and five sisters, Mrs. Cuba McFarland and Mrs. Betty Jane Furbush, both of Bellefontaine, Mrs. Glenna Brown of West Liberty, Mrs. Earl (Mary) tallman of Lake Worth, Fla., and Mrs. Robert (Charlene) Elliott of West Mansfield.

Five brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

The Eichholtz Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements and the family will receive friends there Thursday from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with burial to follow in the Bellefontaine Cemetery.

Charlene Elliott. CHARLENE BUSHONG ELLIOTT
Charlene Bushong Elliott, 78, of West Mansfield, died Friday, Jan. 12,
2007, in the emergency room at Mary Rutan Hospital.
She was a beloved and treasured wife, mother, and grandmother and a
devoted homemaker who dearly loved her family and her God.
She was a member of the West Mansfield Church of Christ, where she was a
former Sunday school teacher and member of the Ladies Aid Society,
serving as treasurer and as a former secretary. She was a 55-year member
of the Kings Daughters & Sons in Starlight Circle in West Mansfield and
was a 1946 graduate of West Mansfield High School.
She enjoyed laughing and enjoyed many moments teasing those she loved.
Her faith in God and her playful, fun-loving spirit touched and
encouraged everyone who had the privilege of being with her.
She was born June 12, 1928, in West Mansfield, the youngest child to the
late Simon B. and Mary L. Park Bushong. She also was preceded in death
by six brothers, Leon, Dwight, Foy "Whitey," Cloyce "Bucky," Everett and
Robert Bushong; five sisters, Gail Fish, Cuba McFarland, Glenna Brown,
Betty Jane Furbush and Mary Elizabeth Tallman; her half-brother, Lowell
Bushong; and two half-sisters, Cecil Musgrave and Bessie Smith.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Robert D. "Bob" Elliott, to
whom she was married June 11, 1950, at the West Mansfield Church of
Christ by Frank Roberts; her three children, Debra (Garry) Lloyd of
Rushsylvania, Mark (Carol) Elliott of West Mansfield, and Robin (Robert)
Titus of Bellefontaine; seven grandchildren, Dustin (Kim) Freeman,
Laramie Freeman, Natalie Elliott, Mathew Elliott, Hillary Titus,
Brittany (Nick) Nye and Kyle Titus; three great-grandchildren, Shae and
Ryan Freeman and Viola Nye; a step-granddaughter, TJ (Jeremiah)
Defibaugh; a step-great-grandson, Briggs Defibaugh; a sister-in-law,
Marjorie Bushong of Coshocton; numerous nieces and nephews, and her
church family.
Services were held today at 11 a.m. at the West Mansfield Church of
Christ. Pastors Willis Moe and Cory Savage officiated and burial took
place at Hathaway Cemetery, West Mansfield.
Mannasmith-Schnurrenberger Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the West Mansfield Church of
Christ Ladies Aid in care of the funeral home.

Ozena Grace Bushong, 86 of Cainsville died February 22, 1978 at the Princeton Care Center. Funeral services were held at the Greenlee-Martin Funeral Chapel in Princeton with the Rev. Oren Cossey officiating. Burial was in the Goshen Cemetery.

Mrs. Bushong was born April 13, 1891 in Mercer County, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Gase. She was married February 15, 1914 to William Bushong who died in February 1962. She was a lifelong member of the the High Point Methodist Church.

Survivors are one step-daughter, Mrs. Wilma Bane of Princeton, one brother, Sidney Gase of Creston, Iowa, one sister, Ermagine Thorton of Ottumwa, Iowa, one step-granddaughter, Lois Jones of Memphis, Tennessee, two step-grandsons, William Roberts of Princeton and Leslie Roberts of Ottumwa, Iowa, one niece, Opal Dall of Creston, Iowa, three nephews, Bulford Gase of Creston, Kenneth Gase of Phoenix, Arizona and Tom Thorton of Davenport, Iowa.
