Frank Hope,62,was found dead in bed Monday Morning,at his home on Fourth Street. Mrs. Hope discovered that her husband had succumbed during the night. He had been in ill health for the past five yearsfollowing a stroke, and had been in a worsened condition about a week. Simon Thomas Norman was born on 1 May 1828 in Monroe County, Kentucky. He and Nancy White were married on 25 April 1852 in Monroe County, Kentucky. He died on 8 January 1911, at age 82. He was buried in Mt Gilead Cemetery, Mt Gilead, Monroe County, Kentucky.

SIMEON T. NORMAN was born May 1, 1828, in Monroe County, Ky., near his present residence. At the age of twenty-one years he went to Texas County, Mo., where he remained for about six months, when he returned to Monroe Courty for a short time, and then went to Illinois on a trading rip. The next year he spent largely in Indiana. The remainder of his life has been spent in Monroe County, except a short period passed in Alabama. His father, Caleb Norman, was born October 12, 1800, in North Carolina. At the age of about twelve years he removed to Monroe County; first to the portion which was then a part of Cumberland and later to the farm on which is located "Rock Bridge" over the head waters of Little Creek. He was the son of William Norman, who was born about 1775 in North Carolina. He came West at a very early day, probably about 1812, and was among the first settlers of Monroe County. He was by trade a millwright, and for several years owned and operated a mill on the waters of Rockbridge of Little Creek. He was a son of William S. Norman, who was born while his parents were crossing the ocean. Caleb Norman married, about 1819, Sarah, daughter of George Bushong. From this union sprung five sons and two daughters, of whom Simeon T. is the fifth child. He married April 25, 1852, Nancy, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Payne) White, of Monroe County. She was born July 18, 1831. To them have been born Galespa, Ingram T., Sarah E. (deceased), Martha E., Lindsey D., and Malinie A. Mr. Norman is a natural arithmetician and a first-rate mental calculator. He has by his own ability and industry become the possessor of nearly 500 acres of good land. He is a member of the Christian Church, and in politics is an unswerving Democrat. He is a self-made man, and is numbered among the solid men of his section.
