Helen was born April 19, 1922 in Monmouth, Ill. a daughter of William and Jessie Needham Watts. She was raised in Keithsburg and attended Keithsburg Schools. On November 17, 1964, she married Julius “Blackie” Bushong in Keithsburg. He died Sept. 26, 2000. They owned and operated the Hi-Way Tap & Café in Keithsburg for 25 years. The Bushong’s made many friends over the years. Helen loved her family dearly and enjoyed being with them, especially on holidays.

Survivors include her children: Janet (Earl) Smith and Dennis (Pat) Diehl; grandchildren: Jeff (Judy) Smith, Rodney (Kim) Smith, Steve (Marnie) Diehl, John (Liza) Diehl and Delena (Eric) Buenaflor; great grandchildren: Meridith, Alison, Cheyne, Aryn, Tyler, Ericka, Justin and Lauren; great great grandchildren: Parker, Griffin, Noah, Caitlynn, Layne and Hayden and sister: Dorothy Bliss.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 5 sisters and 4 brothers
