EAST FORSYTH — A fatal, single-vehicle crash after midnight on New Year’s Eve was one of three wrecks over the holiday travel period in Forsyth County, authorities said.
The driver of a BMW, 27-year-old Forrest Bushong of Cumming, was pronounced dead Thursday at the scene on Samples Road after he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree near Mashburn Elementary School.
The collision occurred about 5:30 a.m., said Robin Regan, a spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. The road was shut down for several hours in the aftermath, with the vehicle suffering “extensive damage.”
No one else was in the BMW, which Regan said traffic investigators estimated was traveling at 116 mph in a 40 mph zone. Alcohol and drugs are suspected factors.

Mrs. Patricia Renee' Parker Bushong, age 35, of Lexington, Indiana, entered this life on April 5, 1972, in Jefferson County, Indiana the daughter of Clarence E. & Donna C. Grubbs Parker, both of whom survive. She was a graduate of Madison Consolidated High School and attended Ivy Tech, studying for a business administration, where she had scholastic honors. She was united in marriage on July 23, 1988 to Michael Durocher and to this union arrived one son: Daniel Curtis to bless their home. She was later united in marriage on January 1, 2000 to Danny Bushong. She was employed with the Madison Courier in the advertising department earlier in life. She had worked in home health care for the past fifteen years and was last employed with Maxim Health Care in Jeffersonville. She was a professional tattoo artist and could draw anything. She was recently engaged to Terry Romans and they were planning their life together. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in downtown Madison. She enjoyed collecting carrousel horses, unicorns, angels, wizards and she loved music. Renee' was a very loving and kind person who would give you anything she had. Renee' died Friday, February 22, 2008 at 9:30 pm in a multiple vehicle accident at the Intersection of SR 256 & Coffee Pot Curve Road, West of Austin, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Everett & Lorena Grubbs; Ruth Haviland & Thomas Parker; her God parents: Pauline & Nathan Hunt.


FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 11:00 am, by the Rev. Randy Crutchfield, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery near Moorefield, Indiana.
