Beloved wife of Joseph J. Heine, died Saturday, 10 April, in Doctors
Hospital, Lake Worth, after an extended illness. Alice was a member of St.
Luke's Catholic parish, and came to Lake Worth with her family 27 years ago,
from Laureldale, Pennsylvania. As a registered nurse, she was Director of
Nurses for the County Home & Hospital for many years. Graduating from Johns
Hopkins School of Nursing in Baltimore, Maryland, Alice followed her career in
Nursing from the Navy Nurse Corps and the U. S. Public Health Department,
Washington, D. C. Most recently her professional life took her into Generic
Nursing, the latest being at Lake Worth Health Care Center. She was a
member of Johns Hopkins Alumnae Association, The Auxilliary of DAV. Chapter 42,
and the Auxillary VFW, Post 3588, Lake Worth. Also a member of the American
Red Cross Nurses and Civil Defence Board, Palm Beach County. She is
survived by her husband Joseph J. Heine, Lake Worth; one son, Captain Joseph
Philip Heine, U. S. M. C., Hawaii; two daughters: Sister Alicia Joseph, S. C.
of Convent Station, New Jersey, and Mrs. Susan Donaldson, Aurora, Colorado;
one sister Mrs. Adelaide Houghton, of Maryland, and four grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held 9:30 A.M., Wednesday, 14 April at St. Luke's
Catholic Church, Lake Worth. Rosary services will be 8 P.M. Tuesday (today) at
the E. Earl Smith & Son Funeral Home, East Chapel, 1032 North Dixie
Highway. Friends may call 2-4 and 708 PM Tuesday at the Funeral Home, East Chapel.

Funeral services were held yesterday at 2 p.m. at the Blackstone Funeral home in Girard for Henry Bushong Sr., 64, of 3803 Virginia St., Gary, Ind. Mr. Bushong, a former Mcdonald resident, died last Sunday at the Gary Methodist Hospital after an illness of three weeks. Mr. Bushong was born in Girard Jan. 24, 1891, a son of Mr. & Mrs. Frank Bushong, and lived in Girard and McDonald before moving to Gary 16 years ago. He had been employed as assistant superintendent by the U. S. Steel Corp. for 48 years before retiring. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Gary, the Gary Elks Lodge and the Niles Masonic Lodge for 42 years. Mr. Bushong leaves his wife, the former Hazel Eaton , whom he married 18 years ago; four daughters, Mrs. Robert Nelsm of Turtle Creek PA., Mrs. Clarence Meyer of Maywood Ill., Mrs. Don Barney of Gary and Mrs. Robert Henson of Milton Fla.; a son, Henry H. Bushong Jr. of Youngstown; a sister, Mrs. Wilford McCauley of Lancaster PA; a brother, Martin Paul Bushong of Hemet Calif., and 18 grandchildren.

RETIRED NAVY YARD FOREMAN

James J. Bushong Jr., 77, of East Lansdowne, a retired general foreman with the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, died on Monday at Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Upper Darby.

Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Bushong had lived in East Lansdowne for 42 years. He worked at the shipyard for 42 years and had been retired since 1969.

Mr. Bushong was a veteran of the U.S. Naby and served as a chief petty officer during the Korean War. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and was a past president of the National Association of the Retired Government Employees and past vice president of the Machinists Union Local 687. He also belonged to the Vereran Boxers Association and served as a Democratic committeeman in East Lansdowne.

His borough activities also included service as a fire marshal and housing officer for 16 years, from which positions he retired in 1985.

Surviving are his widow, the former E. Christina McCloskey; three sons, James J. Bushong 3rd of New York City; John F. Bushong of Williamstown, NJ; and Jerome P. Bushong of Twin Oaks; a daughter Christina M. Brett of West Chester; a brother Joseph F. Cape May, NJ; and six grandchildren.

Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Cyril's Church, 153 Penn Blvd., East Lansdowne, where therre will be calling hours from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Marple.

Esther R. Bushong, 91, of West Chester, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at Chester County Hospital.
She was born in Lititz, the daughter of the late Samuel H. Schreiber and the late Ida W. Yost Schreiber.
She lived in West Chester most of her life. She was a former member of Calvary Lutheran Church in West Chester. She was a homemaker. Surviving are daughters, Sylvia B. Hesson of Lutherville, Md., and Molly Kaigler of Anchorage, Alaska; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A private service and interment will be held at Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Good Fellowship Ambulance Club, P.O. Box 361, West Chester, PA 19380. Arrangements are being handled by the Boyd Funeral Home Inc. of West Chester.

Margaret Beard Snyder Bushong, 90, of 5 Beard Lane, Newmanstown, passed
away December 12, 2004 at Pleasant View Retirement Home, Manheim.

She was born February 6, 1914 in Lebanon, daughter of the late Howard K.
Beard and Catherine Bamberger Beard.

She was the Valedictorian of Schaefferstown High School, Class of 1932,
and was a 1936 Penn State graduate.

In 1940 she married Samuel Snyder, a United Methodist Minister. Rev.
Snyder passed away in 1974, and in 1976 Margaret married H. Ray Bushong. She and
Ray lived on his farm on Pine Hill for 20 years. After Ray s retirement in
1996 they moved to 5 Beard Lane.

She taught at Annville High School, was a home economics and special
education teacher in Westminister, MD and also was a substitute teacher in the
Eastern Shore of MD and DE. She was an active member of St. Luke s United
Church of Christ, Lititz, where she sang in the choir, was a Sunday school
teacher, and provided help and comfort to any and all who needed it. She was
a 4-H Club leader, Girl Scout leader and Boy Scout leader. She was a member
of the Grange, American Association o University Women Trust for Historic
Preservation and acted as a guide at the Schaefferstown Farm Museum. She
enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, flower and gardening, reading, bird
watching and visiting with family and friends.

Surviving in addition to her husband is a son, David W. Snyder, and his
wife Beverly Christener Snyder of Richmond, VA; a daughter, Catherine M.
Snyder of Dover, DE; 4 step-children, Carol, the widow of J. Nevin Bushong,
Barbara and her husband Bill Hazlett, Neil and his wife Linda Bushong and Ned
and his wife Lynda Bushong, all of Lititz; 2 grandchildren, David W. Snyder
of IA and Christopher A. Snyder of VA; 12 step-grandchildren, Eric Bushong,
Duane Bushong, Todd Hazlett, Dr. Timothy Hazlett, Chad Hazlett, James
Bushong, Dr. Shayne Bushong, Tonille English, Ned Bushong, Christian Bushong,
Jill Nelson, and Kurt Legerlotz; 15 great grandchildren; a niece, Dr. Mary
Ann Beard; a nephew David Beard; her sister-in-law, Martha Beard. She was
preceded in death by a brother James A. Beard.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2005 at 2:00 PM
at St. Luke s United Church of Christ, 222 North Broad Street, Lititz, PA
with the Reverend Lyn Reith officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125,
Lancaster, PA 17604-4125 or to St. Luke s United Church of Christ, 222 North Broad
