I am trying to find relatives of my Great Grandmother, Fontella Opal Bushong. She was born June 12, 1908. She was married to Ralph Morgan Waters before 1933. I have looked on numerous websites and don't know where to search from there.
I believe she has a sister Danella or danielle...and they have ties to Idaho and Missouri.
and a follow up......

Parents
Biography
Mary Bessie Feller was born on 28 March 1866 in Woodstock, Shenandoah County, Virginia. She and
Charles W. Wickes were married on 3 December 1888 in Shenandoah County, Virginia. She died on 15 July 1966, at age 100. She was buried in Saint Matthews Cemetery, New Market, Shenandoah County, Virginia.
Her married name was Mary Bessie Wickes. Mary Bessie Feller was a Genealogist. Mary Feller Wickes - the legendary Bushong genealogist and researcher. Mrs. Wickes charted much of the Bushong line before the 1920's. Her research paved the way for Bushong researchers and though she made many mistakes she also made many correct and significant discoveries that are now part of the Bushong Family Tree. One of her mistaken beliefs was that the Bushong family is descended from Beauchamp of France - a myth that has not been completely dissipated. Edward M. Bushong once remarked that she went to her grave believing the Bushongs were Beauchamp. Harry Long of New Market, Virginia is said to have her original research material.

NEW MARKET COUPLE CELEBRATE GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
New Market. Dec. 4---Fifty years ago C. W. Wickes and Miss Mary B. Feller,
at the age of 32 and 22, were married in the M. E. Church by the Rev. H. D.
Bishop. The church had been decorated by Mrs. S. G. Goode, Mrs. T. M. Clinedenst
and Mrs. John Rice. Mrs. F. L. Wickes played the wedding march. The bridal
couple left immediately for Washington.
Saturday afternoon, C. W. Wickes, Jr., their only child, gave an at home
party for them in celebration of their fiftieth wedding anniversary. He was
assisted by Mr. and Mrs. A. R. O'Roark and Miss Ethel Holland, of Washington.
Mrs. Wickes was born near Woodstock and after qualifying as a teacher,
taught at Columbia Furnace, Criglerville and New Market, where she met Mr.
Wickes. They were married Dec. 3, 1888, Mrs. Wickes entered the services of the
government as assistant postmaster under her husband on June 20, 1897, serving
in this capacity continuously until Sept. 1912. In April, 1918, she was
appointed to a position in the War Department, Washington, where she served
efficiently, being one of twenty-five workers in her division to be awarded a
certificate by the government for meritorious service.
She returned to New Market, December, 1922 and again became assistant
postmaster under her husband. In April, 1925, she was appointed postmaster and
was confirmed January 13, 1926. She served in this capacity until her
retirement on May 31, 1933. Mr. Wickes was owner and editor of the Shenandoah Press, a
Republican newspaper established July 4, 1883, which was discontinued 19
years later. In 1897 he was appointed Postmaster and served continuously until
1912. He spent four years as a clerk in the veterans Bureau, Washington,
leaving there to again become postmaster here in January 1922. In 1925 he was
succeeded by his wife. He was always active in local politics and still retains a
keen interest in public affairs.
The refreshments were served buffet style, with Mrs. S. G. Goode and Mrs.
R. H. Zirkle, of Harrisonburg; Mrs. W. W. Williamson, Mrs, N. B. Goode,
Misses Abbie Henkel and Elizabeth Williamson pouring coffee.
The punch was served by Mrs. F. H. Morehead, Mrs. G. A. Woods, Mrs. B. A.
Guard, Mrs. S. Z. Pickering, Mrs. H. B. Moyer and Mrs. J. E. Amiss. The table
was decorated with a replica of the church with the "bride and groom"
walking to a waiting coach. Novel sandwiches, relishes, nuts, mints and a large
wedding cake surrounded the attractive center piece. As favors the guests were
given gold foil covered chocolates in the shape of coins.
Mr. and Mrs. Wickes received many lovely gifts and telegrams of
congratulations. Mrs. Wickes presented the ladies that served with gifts.
Out-of-town guests who called during the afternoon included Mr. and Mrs.
J. D. Kynaster, of Fort Worth Texas; Warren French, of Woodstock; Charles
Fake, of Luray; Mrs. S. G. Good, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Zirkle and daughter, Betty
Lee, John Burke and Henry New, of Harrisonburg; Philip Heathcote, of Bridgwater
College; Rev. and Mrs. R. D. Hottel, of New Market; Miss Ethel Holland,
George Mader and Allan O'Roark, of Washington. The Bushong Bulletin: Spring 1999
A letter received by Mary Feller Wickes, New Market, Virginia, dated 9 Nov 1928, came from the Archives et Bibliotheque, de la Ville de Strasbourg, France:
"Madame, In answer to your letter which has been transmitted to us by the City Hall, we have made searches in the registers of the people in the 18th century including the people emigrated to Strasbourg. We have found there only one family responding ALMOST
to the name in question. JEAN BUCHAIN, a tailor, a native of Canton, Guienne (probably Condom), Department Gers. He acquired, the 5th of December 1722, the right cited for himself, his wife BARBE FOLTZ de HAGUENAU and four children by name, MICHEL, ANDRE, PIERRE, & BARBE. The difference in orthography does not oppose itself to the identity of that family which you are searching, only the names of the children could cause some doubt. On the contrary, there is a possibility that the three boys mentioned are dead or did not emigrate with their parents, and that these, after their arrival at Strasbourg, had the three other children which you named. Now I could, if you desire, make the researches necessary in the registers of baptisms from 1722 to 1731, and in this case, I would beg you to send us the amount to defray expenses, amounting to 50 francs, without guarantee, however, for positive results. The Director, ...Delabache."

Naomi R. White was the catalyst who brought together the Bushong researchers with the publication of the first two issues of the Bushong Bulletin. She said that living on Marco Island, Florida made it difficult for her to do research in the many libraries around the county, but she could do her part by publishing a newsletter. We were all grateful that she agreed to handle its publication. Now that Naomi is no longer with us, the rest of us will carry on. Naomi joined her ancestors June 6, 1985. We will miss her.

Emma O Dell F 8y Indiana. He was the son of James H. McKinney and Caroline V. Bushong. He married Adda Belle McNeal in April 1882 in Benton County, Indiana.
"A Fatal Fall - Geo. McKinney, an employee at the Williamsport stone quarry, fell over the ledge of rock a distance of 29 feet into the pit below Tuesday. He fell on the solid rock floor below and one side of hs face, skull and body were bruised in a horrible manner. He lived but three hours after the accident. McKinney was handling the boom of the derrick and lost his balance, going over into the pit.
He was an honest, hard working man, and leaves a wife and five small children. He was about thirty-eight years old. The funeral took place at the Dunkard church in Williamsport Sunday forenoon at nine o'clock, Rev. Studebaker officiating." - Fountain-Warren Democrat, August 13, 1896
"George McKinney met with a fatal accident at Williamsport about 2 o'clock last Friday afternoon. McKinney was in charge of the derrick at the stone quarry used to raise rock from the bottom of the quarry to the top and load them on the push car. A rope is attached to the arm of the derrick with which it is swung around.
McKinney had just loaded a large rock and gave the rope a hard pull to swing the derrick back. He was standing near the ledge. The rope was not securely fastened and when it slipped loose from the derrick arm the force of the pull precipitated McKinney backward over the ledge. He fell a distance of twenty-nine feet, first striking on a ledge twenty feet below and then falling nine feet to the bottom of the quarry.
He was horribly bruised and mangled and was picked up unconscious. His skull was broken open on the left side and the brain protruded there from. The unfortunate man never regained consciousness, but died shortly after the accident.
McKinney was raised in the vicinity of Rainsville, this county, and was 41 years of age. He had resided in Williamsport some twelve years and had been working at the stone quarry for several years. A wife and five small children are left in destitute circumstances by his sad death.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Wilmer and the remains interred in the Williamsport Cemetery.
McKinney was an industrious and hard working man and the death is indeed a hard blow to his family. We understand the stone company has expressed a determination to make some provision for the family and the people of Williamsport will no doubt do their part." - August 1, 1896 (Obituary found in the collection of the Fountain County Genealogy Society.) Adelaide Bushong Houghton-Daily
Adelaide Bushong Houghton-Daily, age 96, died on November 26, 2016 at the home of her son, Arthur Clifton Houghton II, in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Since 2013, she had lived in New Bern, North Carolina, near the home of her daughter, Elinor Houghton Kelly Wilson. Mrs. Houghton-Daily was born on September 12, 1920 at Warren Hill in Leesburg, Virginia, the home of her grandfather, James Andrew Warren. Her father, Virgil Silman Bushong, was a farmer and large landowner. Her mother was Elizabeth Warren Bushong of Middleburg, Virginia.
Mrs. Houghton-Daily grew up in the circa 1810 Bushong House in Leesburg. The Bushongs, one of the First Families of Virginia, emigrated in the early 1700's to the Shenandoah Valley from France and England. She was also descended from President Zachary Taylor.
Mrs. Houghton-Daily graduated from Leesburg High School and American University in Washington, D.C. with a degree in English. After her graduation, she worked as a Capitol Hill reporter. In 1943, she married Worthington Bowie Houghton, who captained an LST ship in World War II and saw action in the Philippines. In the late 1600's, the Bowie family settled in what is now Prince George's County, and became prominent planters and politicians. Mr. Houghton was also descended from other old Maryland families including the Clagetts, the Worthingtons and the Ishams. His paternal ancestors included the Houghtons of Houghton Tower in Lancashire, England, where his cousins still reside.
After her marriage to Mr. Houghton, Mrs. Houghton-Daily became a realtor in the Houghton family real estate business. The Houghtons moved to Boonsboro, Maryland, but maintained their real estate business in the Washington, D.C. area. Mrs. Houghton-Daily was active in the DAR, the Women's Club of Hagerstown, the Hagerstown AAUW, the Washington County Farm Bureau and the Boonsboro Historical Society. After Mr. Houghton's death in 1982, Mrs. Houghton-Daily bought and renovated several old houses, finally settling in Keedysville, Maryland.
Mrs. Houghton-Daily married Henry Richard Daily in 1990, fifty years after they first met at American University. Mr. Daily served in the Merchant Marine in the World War II, and later worked in marine insurance for many years. The couple divided their time between Keedysville and Kilmarnock, Virginia, where they owned a waterfront property. Mr. Daily died in 2007.
Mrs. Houghton-Daily is survived by her son, Worthington Bowie Houghton, Jr. of Calgary, Canada, her daughter Elinor Houghton Kelly Wilson of New Bern, North Carolina, her son Arthur Clifton Houghton II of Martinsburg, West Virginia, and two grandsons, Worthington Bowie Houghton III of Costa Mesa, California and Christopher Houghton Kelly of Leadville, Colorado.
Mrs. Houghton-Daily's life will be celebrated in a graveside ceremony and reception in Leesburg, Virginia in April 2017. Then she will be laid to rest in Union Cemetery, where her parents and grandparents are buried. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, West Virginia 25430.
