James Robert "Bummy" Bumgarner, 52, of Marysville died Saturday March 22, 2008, surrounded by family at the Kobacker House, Columbus, following an extended illness.

He was a retiree of the Marysville Goodyear Tire and Rubber Plant having been employed for over 30 years and was a member of the Ohio Steel Workers' Union. He was an active member of the Marysville Moose Lodge #1651 having served as Prelate in 1995 and Junior Governor in 2001. He earned the Degree of Legion in 2000, and in 2002 earned his fellowship degree and became a member of the 25 club. He enjoyed being a teen advisor and helping children through the Moose Family Center. Bummy was a familiar face at the Marysville Eagles #3506 and The Landing at Russells Point. He was a 1973 graduate of Marysville High School. People closest to him will remember his love for fishing, bowling, and collectables, especially baseball cards. He had many friends and will be greatly missed.

He was born April 22, 1955 in Marysville, to Robert and Margaret Ann Adelsberger Bumgarner. His father preceded him in death and his mother, Margaret Ann McKitrick, survives in Marysville. He married Linda Bushong on June 11, 1977, and she preceded him in death on February 3, 1989.

Along with his mother, survivors include his children, Tony Bumgarner, Columbus; Megan (Jeffrey) Tornberg, Delaware; and Brittnie Bumgarner, Marysville; two grandchildren, Zoey & River Tornberg; two brothers, Steve Bumgarner, Delaware; and Mark (Roxanne) Bumgarner, Columbus; his sister, Kathy (Paul) Parmenter, Marysville; his mother-in-law, Jacqueline Bushong, Marysville; a brother-in-law, Ed (Becky) Bushong, Milford Center; two sisters-in-law, Teri (Stephen ) Davis, Destin, FL; and Connie Neibarger, Hilliard; nieces, Renea Poling, Kadie Guldan, Kasey (Chas) McCutcheon, Angie Bushong, and Jennifer (Dell) Sikes; two nephews, Colin and Joel Bumgarner; and countless friends.

Services will be held Thursday, March 27, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Mannasmith Funeral Home, Marysville. Father Dean Mathewson will officiate and burial will take place at Raymond Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home where the Moose Ritual Team will conduct a memorial service at 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in care of Mannasmith Funeral Home to fund several charitable acts and projects that were near and dear to Jim's heart. Robert “Bob” Carol Bushong, age 87, of Marysville, died peacefully Thursday, August 2, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. He retired as a horticulturist from O.M. Scott and Sons after 35 years. He was a member of Scotts 20-Year Club. During his retirement, he was a maintenance associate for 10 years at the Marysville First United Methodist Church. He was a 1948 graduate of Chuckery Darby High School. Following high school, he became certified at Davey Tree School as a tree surgeon. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1950 and served in the Korean War. He also served years later in the Ohio National Guard. Upon his discharge from the Army, he returned home and worked with his family well-drilling business and in the stone quarry. He enjoyed playing golf and euchre, watching TV and telling stories. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and for many years, volunteered with his wife for Memorial Hospital’s Mobile Meals. He was born November 9, 1930 in Dublin to the late Clair and Helen Berringer Bushong. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Jim, Ernie, Ed, Clair Jr., Dick, Burt and Marilyn. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Barbara F. Bradford, whom he married December 1, 1951 in Paso Robles, California; his children, Dennis (Viviane) Bushong of Dublin, Daniel (LaDonna) Bushong of Marysville, Denise (Lawrence) Dunn of East Liberty, Dana Bushong of Ostrander, Daunitta (John) Oates of Ostrander, Darin (Lori) Bushong of Marysville, Diana (Clay) Hales of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee and Danyal (Mark) Marsh of Marysville; his grandchildren, Tara, Jessica, Jennifer, Jay, Jenny, Bob, Christopher, Elizabeth, Andrea, Logan, Nicholas, Amanda, Amy, Adam, Maranda, Stacey, Shaun, Joshua, Cole, Colin, Gavin, Javan, MacKenzie, Tiffany, Josh, Courtney, Tyler and Justin; many great-grandchildren; two sisters, Harriett Magers and Phyllis McKinley; four sisters-in-law, Pearl Bushong, Arlene Hoover, LaVona Styn and Maryetta (Jim) Dulcich; a brother-in-law, Earl (Yvonne) Bradford; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where military honors will follow the service provided by the Union County Military Honor Guard. A luncheon will follow at the Catholic Community Center. The Rev. Fr. Kevin J. Kavanagh will officiate. Interment will be held 2 :30 p.m. Tuesday at the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Loving Care Hospice or to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
