BRISTOL — Sarah Katherine Bushong Gross, age 77, of Bristol, TN, went to be
with the Lord Friday, February 1, 2008, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.

She was born February 1, 1931, in Ohio, a daughter of the late Walter and
Irene Hood Bushong. She has lived in the Bristol area all of her life and was a
former employee of SE Massengill. Mrs. Gross was a member of West Highlands
Church and was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Bushong Rosenbaum.

Survivors include: Husband of 57 years: Floyd W. Gross; Sons: Jerry Gross
and wife, Teresa, Jeff Gross and wife, Diane; Grandchildren: Frank Blackstock
Jr. and fiancée, Rebecca Osborne, Emilee Shepherd, Sara Gross;

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Sarah Katherine Gross and Barbara E. Rosenbalm.

MARY ROSE BUSHONG

Oquawka — Mary Rose Bushong, 76, Oquawka, died at 10:10 a.m. Thursday, Jan.
22, 2009 at OSF St.Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
Bushong was born Feb. 27, 1932 in Prairie City, and was the daughter of Loren
L. and Mona Bell McMahill Smith. She was raised in Prairie City and
attended schools in Prairie City and Biggsville.
She was married to Paul J. Bushong on April 9, 1950 in Gladstone. He
preceded her on Feb. 3, 2006.
Bushong was first employed as a seamstress at Formit in Monmouth. She later
worked at Sylvania in Burlington, Iowa for a time. She was a devoted
homemaker and mother to her family and enjoyed traveling. She and her husband lived
in Japan for three years and also visited the Holy Lands twice. She was a
member of the Oquawka United Methodist Church and the Quad City Walk to Emmaus.
She also is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Oquawka.
Bushong loved flowers and especially Orchids, shopping and her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Bushong, Galesburg, and Lori (David)
Freed, Osceola, Iowa; one son, Tony (Vicky) Bushong, East Moline; four
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren; three
sisters, Catherine Adair, Little York, Laura Marie (Homer) Renwick, Albia, Iowa,
and Margaret Patlan, Biggsville; two brothers, Jim (Vallie) Smith, Biggsville,
Bob (Betty) Smith, Stronghurst; and a number of nieces and nephews and other
relatives are also surviving. In addition to her husband, she is preceded by
her parents, and two nephews.
A memorial service is planned at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26 at Turnbull Funeral
Home in Oquawka. Cremation has been accorded. Her family plans to be at
Turnbull Funeral Home on Monday for the hour prior to the service 10-11 a.m. A
private burial of her ashes is planned at a later date.
A memorial fund is being established for St.Judes Hospitals in her memory.
