He died on 16 November 1926, at age 76, in White Shop, Culpeper, Culpeper County, Virginia. He was buried in Bushong-Hawkins Cemetery (Waylands Mill Rd), Culpeper County, Virginia.

Isaac Newton Bushong was a Carpenter. Hand written note to County Clerk:
"The honorable clerk of rappannock County will please issue licens for the
marriage of my Daughter Jermima Summerville Hawkins to Newton Busshong and this
shall be your sufficient warrant given under my hand this 16th day of Dec,
1872."

According to the Certificate to Obtain A Marriage License for the couple it
stated that the groom Isaac Newton Bushong was born in Augusta County, the
son of Isaac A. and Sarah Bushong. He was now a resident of Rappahannock
County, was age 22y 4mos and was single and his occupation was that of a carpenter.
The bride Summerville Hawkins was born in Rappahannock County, the daughter
of Benjamin F. and Mary Jane Hawkins. She was now a resident of Culpeper
County, was 19y, and was single.

"Mr. Henry Bushong, an aged resident of Culpeper, died suddenly at his
apartment in town at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Kilby, on Wednesday morning
December the seventeenth. The body was taken to the Reaguer funeral
establishment where late yesterday afternoon arrangements for the funeral had not been
completed.
Deceased is survived by his wife and four children. L. C. Bushong. J. W.
Bushong. Mrs. G. F. Garret of Washington. and Miss Blanche Bushong of Culpeper;
also by eighteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Henry Bushong
was the son of the late Isaac A. Bushong, a well known citizen of Culpeper in
former days, and besides his immediate family is survived by five brothers and
a sister. Messrs. Charles L. and Arthur Bushong, and Miss Amanda Bushong, of
Culpeper county, W. C. Bushong, of Petersburg. David and James Bushong of

With much pleasure, I embrace the present opportunity to write to you. I
got home safely, the following day, after I left your house. I have no news,
that would be interesting, to write to you. I found them all well at home. I
am now going to school at Locust Dale Academy, which is about eight miles from
home. I like the school very much; but, don't like the boys, all very very
much. I think there are some of the grandest rascals at this school, that can
be found in old Virginia.
You must write as soon as you get this letter, for I want to hear from
you. I have to study very hard, in order, to keep up with my classes, I am
studing, in addition to the English, French and Latin.
I want to finish several of my studies this session. We have very good board
and lodging. He has about thirty boaders, together with the day schollars,
making about fifty in all. You must write soon, and, give me all the news.

was placed in jail today about noon charged with lunacy. He had spent the
night so neighbors say, praying and screaming and finally this morning
began breaking the furniture in his room. When the officers arrived it was with
great difficulty they got him in the carriage to carry him to jail. The
exact cause of his present condition is not known. He was for some time a
prominent teacher here, and an accomplished and scholarly gentleman. Recently,
however, he has been studying and reading a great deal and had become very
much interested in the planchette, claiming he could call up departed
spirits and have them write answers to his questions.

MEET 52-YEAR OLD BROTHER FIRST TIME, TEXAN RETURNING TO VIRGINIA HOME,
FINDS RELATIVE.

PETERSBURG, VA.---For the first time in their lives two brothers met at Colonial Heights, Chesterfield County, just across the Appomattox River from Petersburg. They are L. D. Bushong of Lake Eye, Texas, 68 years old, and W. C. Bushong, 52 years old. The two saw each other for the first time at the store of W. C. Bushong. The man from Texas without making his identity known, entered the store and engaged his brother in conversation. later he told who he was.

The greeting that followed was most affectionate. L. D. Bushong was born in Augusta County, this state. When he was 16 years of age and before his brother was born, he left his home in Culpeper County and started West, and finally located in Lake Eye, Texas. This is his first visit to is native state in 52 years. W. C. Bushong is prominent in Chesterfield County. He is a member of the County School Board. Unknown Newspaper

LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF J. W. BUSHONG

"I, J. W. Bushong, being of sound mind do make and publish this my last
will and testament hereby revoking and making void all wills heretofore made.
1st: I, direct that all of my just debts, and funeral expenses be paid, as
soon after my death as maybe practicable out of any moneys, which I may die
seized and possessed.
2nd: I, Will devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Ada Bushong a one sixth
undivided interest in my home place, and the place on which I now reside
containing one hundred, and eighty nine acres more or less, I will devise and
bequeath to her a one third interest in all of the sheep, cattle and hogs, now
on the farm, I also devise to her all of the poultry on the farm, I give devise
and bequeath to my said wife all wheat, corn, and bacon on hands at the date
of my death, and all of my interest in the growing crops on the farm. I give
devise and bequeath to my said wife, one suite of furniture, the one in the
living room, one radio, one victrola, one ice box, one large wardrobe, all
new silver ware, one dinner set with the pink flowers on it, and all glass ware
in the china closet, one drugget, the one in the parlor, one cream
separator, all bed linen which has been made by my said wife since she has lived here,
and all bed linen otherwise belonging to her, one Ford Automobile, also all
dining room furniture in my home, all the small rugs in the home, My said
wife has been at the expense of buying shrubbery for the yard, and I give and
grant to her the privilege, any and all such shrubbery or so much of the same
as she may desire, I also devise to her all, window shades, curtains, and
drapery, or draperies in my home, or that part of same that she may desire, also
one parlor suit, one traveling bag and one suit case. I have heretofore made
and delivered to my said wife Ada Bushong a deed to my house, and lot in
Bristol, Tennessee, and located at 818, 5th Street of said city, and I mention
this in my will in order that there maybe no question concerning it.
3rd: I will devise and bequeath to my beloved daughter Mrs. I. C. Peters, a
one sixth undivided interest in my farm heretofore described, and one suit of
furniture.
4th: I, will devise and bequeath to my beloved son Walter G. Bushong, a one
sixth undivided interest in my said farm heretofore mentioned, also his
grandfather's enlarged picture, one book case, and all books, and one old family
bible.
5th: I, will devise and bequeath to my two grandchildren, Thomas Rutledge,
and Vivian Rutledge, children of my daughter Ada Rutledge, deceased, jointly a
one sixth undivided interest in my said farm heretofore mentioned.
6th: I, will devise and bequeath to my beloved daughter Mrs. G. Mack Hodges,
a one sixth undivided interest in my said farm heretofore mentioned, one
piano, one suit of furniture, and one enlarged picture of her mother.
7th: I, give devise and bequeath to my beloved son John D. Bushong, a one
sixth undivided interest in my said farm heretofore mentioned, one suite of
furniture, my watch, one enlarged picture of himself, and one new bible.
8th: All of the money on hands at the date of my death, and in bank, after
paying all of my just debts, and funeral expenses, I will and direct that it
shall be divided as follows: one sixth to my wife Ada Bushong, one sixth to my
daughter, Mrs. I. C. Peters, one sixth, to my son Walter G. Bushong, one
sixth to my grandchildren, Joe Thomas Rutledge, and Vivian Bernice Rutledge,
jointly, they being the children of my deceased daughter [Mrs.] Julian Rutledge, and one
sixth to my daughter, Mrs. G. Mack Hodges, and one sixth to John D. Bushong.
9th: It, is, my will and I so direct that my said farm shall be divided, as
above directed among my devisees, and that they do the same, if they can
agree, and it my desire that they do so, if possible, and grandchildren Vivian
Bernice Rutledge, and Joe Thomas Rutledge, being minors, and incompetant of
acting for themselves in the partition of said lands; in accordance with the
terms of this my will, I hereby appoint, authorize, and empower my executor
hereinafter appointed, and named as such, to act for them in division and
partition of my said farm lands, and I hereby empower, and authorize my said executor
to make, execute and deliver all deeds necessary in making said partition,
and to accept for the said minors the deed to their part of said land made to
them jointly, I leave all horses and all farming implements to be used by all
of the heirs.
10th: I hereby nominate and appoint my good friend and neighbor A. A. Weaver
as executor of this my last will and testament.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto signed my name on this the 5th day of
January, 1935."
