Walter Ray Swink was born 30 Jan 1895 in Macon County, Missouri, the son of Anna (n Kiefer) & Charles E. Swink.

According to William C. Hall's "Thomas Gorsuch Genealogy" The Swinks moved to Montezuma, Iowa about 1899 where he attended Montezuma Garfield Grade School and several other rural schools. His mother died when he was 9 years old and he was raised in the home of his uncle and aunt, Mr. & Mrs. Wes Rath. He became a member of the Methodist Church in Iowa.

Mr. & Mrs. Swink moved to Salem, Oregon in 1940 and they transferred their church membership to the First Evangelical United Brethren Church of Salem, Oregon.

Mr. Swink was a farmer for 45 years and when they moved to Oregon he became an employee of the State Hospital in Salem.

There were two children from his marriage: Max Ray and Leslie Clair.

He died 28 Jun 1980, in Salem, Marion, Oregon.
