A large number of friends of Mr. Nat Bushong and wife, of Gordonville,
congregated on Wednesday evening, and proceeded to take them to a genuine
surprise party, and to say that it was a complete one is no exaggeration. The
Liberty Cornet Band of this place marched over and helped to enliven the occasion
with some of their excellent music. Mr. Bushong has accepted a position as

BUSHONG RESIGNS TO TAKE UP AUTOMOBILE BUSINESS
John H. Bushong has resigned from the publicity department of Deere and Company to enter the automobile business as partner of A. J. Ostlund. He will assist in the management of the garage conducted in the past by Mrs. Ostlund on Fourth Avenue between Thirteenth and Fourteenth Streets. The firm will carry the Buick line of cars.
Mr. Bushong has been in Moline 12 years. He is a Cornell man and was famous as a baseball player some years back. Formerly he was advertising manager for Deere and Mansur Company and when Deere merged, he entered the office under Frank D. Blake, now head of the publicity department.
For two years Mr. Bushong has been financially interested in the Ostlund garage. His resignation becomes effective 1 February. Name: Jacob Henry Bushong

J H BUSHONG IS FOUND DEAD ON SAUKIE COURSE.

Believed to have suffered a heart attack while playing golf alone on the Saukie Links , J H Bushong 60 residing at the LeClarie Hotel , Moline was found dead at 430 pm Tuesday.

The body was found by Frances Sinnett 1537 Thirty-ninth street Rock Island, a steel worker who immediately notified officers of the golf club.

Dr Joseph De Silva was summoned to the club and the physician pronounced the man dead about a half hour.

Mr Bushong was well known in Moline having been former assistant manager for Deere a & Co and later sales manager for Auto Service Co of Moline retiring in 1930

Mrs Bushong the widow related today that although her husband had not complained of heart trouble he often seemed to suffer from the effects of a goiter operation performed almost two years ago.

Mr Bushong was an enthusiastic golfer. He remarked to his wife yesterday noon that he had decided to play his last game of the season. yesterday afternoon before the winter set in.

He invited his wife to accompany him for a game she said, but she declined due to the cold weather.

Mr Bushong lived in Moline more than 25 years.

He was born in West Grove Pa October 8 1876 and attended Cornell University three years.

He married in 1930 to Mrs Glade Reichers, widow of H.F Reichers who was principal of Manual Arts school and who died in 1927.

Mr Bushong was for many years and active member of the Masonic fraternity being a member of No 1014 AF & AM and a former member of the Moline Consistory.

Surviving are the widow, a daughter Mrs Elizabeth Cook of South Pasadena Calif, born by a previous marriage, two grandchildren and two brother Jesse Bushong of West Grove PA and Morton of Pa.

MONROVIA, Jan. 13.---------At a prettily appointed bridge luncheon given
Tuesday, December 30, at the home of Mrs. Edith Bushong, 2424 Birch street at
Alhambra, a former popular Monrovia girl, announcement was made of the marriage
of Miss Elizabeth Bushong to Jesse Cook of Los Angeles. The wedding took
place August 2, 1930 at the Oneonta Congregational Church, with the Rev. Holland
Burr officiating. Friends of the young couple Miss Elizabeth Banks of San
Marino and William Hacker, Jr., of Pasadena witnessed the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs.
Cook spent their honeymoon at Oceanside and San Diego.
Mrs. Cook is a graduate of the University of Southern California, College
of Music, and is affiliated with Mu Phi Epsilon, national music sorority;
Phi Phi, honorary fraternity, and the Honorary Music Club. Mr. Cook will
receive his degree from the University of Southern California in June, and is a
