"Liberty Township. Leah Shaub was born January 11, 1817 in Lampeter township,
Lancaster county Pennsylvania. She remained with her mother, her father
having died when she was quite young, until she was about twenty years of age. She
married Jacob Shaub October 27, 1836, and in the spring of 1837 they emigrated
to Ohio, locating about one mile west of Newark, May 1st, where they remained
about 18 months, and in December 1838, they moved to Liberty township, where
they have remained ever since. Jacob Shaub, her husband, was born Feb. 15,
1815 in Lampeter township, Lancaster Co., PA. He worked on the farm until he was
sixteen years of age, when he served an apprenticeship as a shoemaker at which
he spent his evenings and rainy days. When the Shaub estate was settled he
fell heir to 37 acres of land, which he disposed of about 1849, and made a
purchase of 100 acres, to which he continued adding until he possessed 174 acres,
which he placed in a high state of cultivation. They had 9 children- 3 boys and
6 girls- only two of whom are living: Emma, born April 30, 1838; Elizabeth,
born April 27, 1839. The latter married George W. Barstow Dec. 9, 1867, and is
living with Mrs. Shaub. Mr. Shaub Sr. died Jan 19, 1878, at an advanced age,
loved by his family and respected by all who knew him. He was a member of the

The Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity was organized in 1730, after
worshipping in a small stone church, the congregation began construction of the
present Georgian-style, brick church in 1761. A Memorial Wall and garden,
which showcases thirty-six tombstones from the original church cemetery are
located next to the Sanctuary.

The Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity was organized in 1730, after
worshipping in a small stone church, the congregation began construction of the
present Georgian-style, brick church in 1761. A Memorial Wall and garden,
which showcases thirty-six tombstones from the original church cemetery are
located next to the Sanctuary.

Located 31 South Duke Street, Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Originating a half-century before the Declaration of Independence, Holy
Trinity is the oldest congregation in Lancaster and one of the oldest in
Pennsylvania. Trinity's beautiful sanctuary stands today as one of America's

Ivin G. Bushong, fifty-seven, of Brunnerville, died at 4:30 pm Sunday at his home after an illness of six months. He operated several stores in the community. Surviving are his wife Bessie Miller Bushong; four children, Eva wife of Adam Eckert, Lititz; Grace wife of Edwin G. Bigler, Lancaster; Warren M. with the United States armed forces in the South Pacific; Roy. N. of this borough; his mother Mrs. Maria Bushong, Lititz, two brothers Omer K. and Paul B. both of Lititz; two sisters Mable R. and Edna, wife of Cullen Carpenter, Lititz; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the Spacht Funeral Home Lititz, at 2 pm
yesterday (Thursday). Interment was made in the Rothsville Lutheran Cemetery.

Paul Bushong
Paul P. Bushong, a 90 year old retired mailman, who lived at 120 E. Main St., Lititz, died at 11 p.m., Tuesday at Lancaster General Hospital, following an illness of one week.

He lived in the Lititz area all his life, retiring in 1958 after having been a rural letter carrier for 45 years.

He was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Lititz. He also was a charter member of the Warwick Lions Club, a 50 year member of the International Order of Odd Fellows, and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

He was the husband of Mary Ritter Bushong, The couple celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in June.

Born in Warwick Township, he was the son of the late Samuel E. and Maria Plasterer Bushong.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by the following children; Samuel E., West Chester: H. Ray, Jacob R. and Myrtle, wife of Guy Snyder, all of Lititz: Mary Jane, wife of J. Simon Hartman, Denver, Colo; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
