EDNA BUSHONG WAS VOLUNTEER
Edna K. Bushong, 90, of 122 S. Broad Street, Lititz, died Friday afternoon at Lancaster General Hospital following a brief illness.
She was the widow of Arthur W. Bushong Sr., who died in 1946.
Mrs. Bushong was retired from Woodstream Corp., Lititz, where she worked for more than 25 years.
She was a mamber of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lititz, serving as a volunteer in the church office. She was a member of the Lititz Springs Chapter 499 Order of the Eastern Star, and Lady Rebekah Lodge 435, Lititz.
She was also a volunteer with Meals on Wheels in Lititz and with Faith Venture Visuals, Lititz. She enjoyed crocheting and was a member of a Pokeno club.
Born in Strasburg Township, she was the daughter of the late Maris Huber and Emma Huber Stauffer.
She was preceded in death by three children, Arthur J. Bushong Jr., who died in 1995, Nancy Ann Troutman, who died in 1971, and Robert G. Bushong, who died in 1953.
She is survived by five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Arthur W. Bushong, Jr., was born on 30 December 1926 in Landisville (Lancaster County), Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He and Nancy R. Steffy were married on 23 February 1946 in Winchester, Virginia. He died on 15 March 1995, at age 68, in Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He was buried in Machpelah Cemetery, Lititz, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

Arthur W. Bushong Jr., 68, of 221 W. Woods Drive, Lititz, died Wednesday at
Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Landisville, he was a son of Edna K. Bushong of Lititz and the late
Arthur W. Bushong.
A graduate of Lititz High School, Class of 1944, he attended Lehigh
University, Lock Haven University and Millersville University.
He was the owner and president of Multiple Brokers Insurance Agency Inc. of
Lancaster. He founded and headed the agency for 31 years.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
A member of the Pennsylvania Insurance Agency Association, he belonged to
American Legion Post 56 in Lititz, Manheim Lodge 587 of Free and Accepted
Masons, Lancaster Lodge of Perfection, Lancaster County Scottish Rite Club,
Lancaster County Shrine Club and the Rajah Temple in Reading.
He was also a member of the Slumbering Groundhog Lodge of Quarryville and
the Nittany Lion Club.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Surviving besides his mother are two sons, A. William of Lititz and James E.
of Lancaster; two daughters, Patricia A.E., wife of William Darras of Leola,
and Barbara J. Bushong of Los Alamos, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and one

Undertaker--E. S. Miller. This Will was not your ordinary Will. It had several different aspects to it
that turned out to be very informative and quite interesting. It concerned
the Estate of Anna Moyer Bushong, widow of Philip Bushong. Anna Moyer Bushong
died 5 June 1879 according to her daughter Leah M. Connard's testimony.
Anna's Will was filed, and because an administrator was not named in the Will, the
Court appointed Anna's daughter Leah M. Connard to be the Administratrix of
the Will. The son of George W. Bushong, deceased, Philip A. Bushong objected
to a woman being made administrator. His objection was overruled by the
Register of Wills and Leah, the daughter served as Administratrix.

I, Anna M. Bushong of the city of Reading in the County of Berks and
State of Pennsylvania, widow, being of sound mind memory and understanding do
make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void
all former wills by me at any time heretofore made and FIRST I desire that
my body be decently interred in the Charles Evans Cemetery and that my funeral
be conducted in a manner corresponding with my Estate and situation in life.
As to such estate as it has pleased God to intrust me with I dispose of
the same as follows, viz:
ITEM: I give, devise and bequeath to my daughter-in-law Magdalena Bushong
the sum of One Thousand Dollars.
ITEM: I give, devise and bequeath to my daughter-in-law Magdalena Bushong
in trust the sum of Three Thousand Dollars that she shall do put and place
the same out at interest on good real security and use the interest thereof
towards the support and education of her son George Ralph Bushong, and to pay to
him the said principal sum on his becoming twenty-one years of age.
All the rest and residue of my personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever
of what nature kind and quality soever the same may be and not herein before
given and disposed of (after paying my debts, legacies and funeral expenses)
be divided into parts or shares as follows:
One sixth part or share of my residuary estate I give devise and bequeath
to my step-daughter Elizabeth G. Vaughn:
One sixth part or share of my residuary estate I give devise and bequeath
to my step-daughter Maria L. Jacobs:
One sixth part or share of my residuary estate I give devise and bequeath
to my daughter Leah M. Connard:
One sixth part or share of my residuary estate I give devise and bequeath
to my daughter Sarah Ann Hahs:
One third part or share of my residuary estate I give devise and bequeath
to the children of my son George W. Bushong, deceased, viz: Lizzie K; Lillie
M; Anna M; and Philip A; share and share alike; should the share of the said
Lizzie K; Lillie M; Anna M; and Philip A; exceed Three Thousand Dollars the
sum herein before bequeathed to my daughter-in-law Magdalena Bushong in trust
for George Ralph Bushong then in that event the amount in trust shall be
increased out of the one third part given to Lizzie K; Lillie M; Anna M; Philip
A; so as to have George R.; share alike with Lizzie K; Lillie M; Anna M; and
Philip A.
The Register of Wills of Berks County shall grant letters of
administration with this will annexed to same suitable person according to law.
In witness hereof I, Anna M. Bushong the testatrix have to this my will
written on one sheet of paper set my hand and seal the 15th day of April A.D.
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine.

daughter of Mrs. Harry Bushong Hahs of the Warwick, to Ellwood Irwin Beatty Jr.,
son of Mr. and Mrs. E. I. Beatty of Wissahickon, at St. James's Church
here on 25 April. The Rev. Dr. Joseph Fort Newton will perform the cememony.
Other attendants will be Miss Charlotte Upton Darling, Miss Marian
Adams McAllister, Mrs. Robert Montgomery, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss

Herbert Bushong, forty-five, Ephrata, Route 3, who was found dead from
carbon monoxide fumes in his auto, parked in a hitching shed at the
Weavertown Amish Mennonite Church, two miles east of Bird-in-Hand, at 7:15 pm,
Friday, was born in Leola, a son of Emma M. Sonon Bushong, and the late Neri M.
Bushong. He was formerly employed by the Lancaster Transportation Company,
and later by the Shirk Motor Express Company.
In addition to his mother of Ephrata, Route 3, he is survived by his
wife, Leah G. Graybill Bushong of Leola; a son Donald, and a daughter
Geraldine, both at home; also two sisters Ruth S. wife of Harlan Reitz, Lititz,
Route 4, and Arlene B., wife of Howard L. Sensenig, Ephrata, Route 3.
Strictly private funeral services were held from the Funeral Home of
Fred F. Groff, Inc. Lancaster, on Monday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock. Interment
