Clara Marie Beery, 95, died at 9:21 a.m. March 28, 2008, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 17, 1913, in Monroe Township to Ellsworth L. and Chloe Bushong Michael, who preceded her in death.

On July 26, 1935, in Lima, she married Virgil "Pete" Beery, who died July 22, 1983.

Mrs. Beery had worked at the Allen County Clerk of Courts and Board of Elections offices. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She attended Prairie School, Monroe Township, was a 1929 graduate of Beaverdam High School, and attended Northwester Business College.

Survivors include a daughter, Sara J. Beery, of Longmont, Colo.; a sister-in-law, Carmen Michael, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; four nieces, Marcia Winkelmann, Karen Michael, Joyce Davis and Vonda Beery; and four nephews, John Murray, Greg Moser, Robert Michael and Kevin Michael.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray, Donald and Robert Michael; an infant sister, Helen Madelle Michael; her stepmother, Effie Bassitt Michael; a stepsister, Edythe Conaway; and her foster parents, Noah and Mattie Spitzer.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. David Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Cairo East Cemetery, Cairo.
Friends may call one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.

The body of former Army Pvt Ronald Dan Bushong will be returned to Kingsport late Wednesday afternoon for burial. Pvt Bushong, 22 formerly of Chestnut St., died in a crash Dec 30 in California. Born in Kingsport, he had been in Pasadena for five months He was stationed at Fort Ord, Calif. Survivors include his wife Christine Bradley Bushong of Kingsport, but now living in Pasadena Calif; his mother Mrs Lena Green of Florida; a half sister, Miss Patricia Green of Florida; and his grandmother, Mrs Lucy Bushong of Chestnut St. Arrangements will be announced later by Dobson Funeral Home.
