Hollace Klahr Basinger, 85, of Findlay, passed away at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2013 at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay. He was born on February 10, 1928, to the late Waldo E. and Ruth M. (Grabow) Basinger in Findlay. He married Rhoda Nelle Bushong on June 4, 1950, and she survives.

Hollace is also survived by his son, William E. (Linda) Basinger of Auburn, IN; daughters: Cynthia (Robert) Arrington of McComb and Sara (Jim) Smith of North Baltimore; sister: Genevieve Wittenmyer of Findlay; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Hollace was also preceded in death by a sister, Connie Zook.

Hollace worked for and retired from Cooper Tire and Rubber Company in 1990. He was a member of Howard United Methodist Church, Findlay. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, fishing, and feeding the squirrels and birds.

Visitation will be from 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 19, 2013. Pastors Jennifer Burns and Marianne Higley will officiate and burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay. Memorials may be made to Howard United Methodist Church. Gwen J. Bushong, 83, of Findlay died at 3:56 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Blanchard Valley Hospital. Gwen was born August 3, 1934 in Lima, Ohio to the late Harvey G. and Erva (Miller) Wilkins. On September 29, 1963, Gwen married Raymond H. Bushong and he survives in Findlay. Gwen is also survived by her sister, Linda (David) Price of Toledo. She is preceded in death by her son, Steven Lee Bower; brother, Robert (Effie) Wilkins and sister, Shirley (Bob) Stutzman. Gwen was a 1952 graduate of Lima Central High School. She loved to golf and travel with her husband, Raymond. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2017 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay with Pastor Rick Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-4 and 5-7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. --Linda was called back to the Father in Heaven on the evening of December 7th 2016, being admitted at Pleasant Valley Hospital for a respiratory infection.
--She had been struggling for some years with breathing difficulties, but with the help of additional oxygen, her iPad, and Facebook she was able to enjoy the company of friends and family and keep up with her grandkids.
--Gratefully the illness in her last days was brief and the end came quickly. Now she is at rest with the Saints.
--Linda was born on December 5th, 1945 in Sand Creek, Michigan.
--She attended school and spent most of her childhood with her family in Adrian Michigan.
--Linda's parents, Gayle and Mary Gardner have proceeded her to be with the Lord, as well as her sister Reva Heckert.
--Her brothers Darrell and Glen Gardner remain with us to await reunion with her in the next life.
--"Gramma", as she was known to many is survived by "Poppa", Jim Bushong, her devoted husband of 50 years.
--Linda left home and everyone she knew in Michigan to accompany Jim, her new husband, a farmboy from Calhoun County Michigan and a freshly minted Seabee, to the faraway city of Port Hueneme, California in 1967.
--Jim was sent to Vietnam, and Linda worked at the Bank of A Levy in Oxnard while she waited for his safe return.
--When he got home in early 1969 they went to work building a home, family and business. They eventually settled in Somis in 1979.
--There they raised their boys, and were ever present for their grand kids who have all reached adulthood with Gramma and Poppa by their side.
--Linda never let an opportunity to volunteer in the community pass her by. The list of work she
did is too long for a brief description, but it included Somis Pony League Baseball, Somis School Script program and along with Jim they opened their home to Foster children transitioning between homes.
--Those who knew Linda know that no mere list of deeds can adequately describe the depth of the impression left by her on the Somis community.
--Truly, Linda never viewed this as work, her Midwest values and love of the Lord simply compelled her to live this way.
--Many will remember Linda's remarkable handwriting that although she was left handed slanted perfectly and looked more like art than writing.
--She was also a prolific crafter whose many works are treasured by friends and family. She had an impeccably steady hand and artful style of Toll Painting. While she was always very humble about them, her Toll Painted woodcut
pieces (all wood equally as artfully cut by Jim), were exceptional in quality and beauty.
--Along with her needlepoint, knitting, and crochet (all patiently taught to any child who wished to learn)
Linda was a great American crafts woman of a bygone era.
--Tearfully mourning Gramma's departure are her grandchildren Elsie Brown, Wednesday Bushong and Olive Jones. Alongside them are Keely Brown and Bob Jones, members of Gramma's extended Somis Family.
-- Linda also leaves behind her sons, John (wife Kim)
Bushong of San Diego, CA, and Clint (wife Shannon) Bushong of Denton, TX.
--A memorial for Linda will be held at Horizon Baptist Church located at 4098 Calle Tesoro,
Camarillo, CA 93036 at 10 am on Thursday December 15th. Services will be presided over by Pastor Brian Leversee.
--Jim and Linda are early members of Horizon Baptist Church and consider the fellowship there to have been one of the greatest Blessings of their life.
-- Jim thanks the Lord for the prayerful support he has received from he and Linda’s wide ranging extended
family at Horizon Baptist, Southland Sod, The Topa Topa Flywheelers, the Somis community, and so many others too numerous to name them all here, during the difficult years since the onset of Linda's illness..
--In lieu of flowers, the family asks that charitable donations be made in Linda's name to the charity of one's choice.

Dolly Frances Bushong, 13 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Bushong, 608 North Ochoa Street, died on Sunday evening after a lengthy illness. Death was due to heart trouble. The funeral will take place this afternoon at 4:30 o' clock.
