Mary Elizabeth Hotchkin died on 16 March 1960 at Muskegon, Muskegon County, MI, USA, at age 55. She died of a Brain Tumor at Hackley Hospital at 3:40 am. She had been ill since October 1959..2 She was buried at Muskegon, Muskegon County, MI, USA.

The children were adopted by Donald Bushong and took his name. Her son says that she was educated at Western Michigan University and was a school teacher.
