Notes for ELIZABETH EVANS MITCHELL:
In 1824, John and Rosanna "Rosa" Beard had "Elizabeth ("Eliza") Mitchell. She married James A. Willett, and probably had no children. She died at the age of seventy eight, in an "old ladies home" in New Albany, Indiana. She was placed there by her younger brother John Beard Mitchell (1835 - 1915) (1835 - 1915) . After her death she was "taken to her former home in Chillicothe for interment." ("Eliza" probably married before 1840, since she was not living with John and Rosanna "Rosa" Beard when the census was made in 1840.)

In 1838, fourteen year old "Elizabeth ""Eliza"" was received "on trial" into the Walnut Street Methodist Church on the nineteenth of February 1838. She was accepted into full membership on October 15, 1838. Her surname was later changed to Willett in the church records.

This year, 1881, "Elizabeth (""Eliza"") Mitchell Willett, at age 57, removed from membership in the Walnut Street Methodist Church, and was listed as having "lived on Fourth". "Eliza", later in old age, was probably moved to an "old ladies home" in New Albany, Indiana by her Brother, John Beard Mitchell, but at this time she was only about 57.

Rebecca Mitchell was born about 1822 in Lot 107, Fourth St., Chillicothe, Ross County, Ohio. She died on 2 June 1824, at age ~2, in Chillicothe, Ross County, Ohio.

In 1822, four years later, Rebecca Mitchell was born. She died only two years later. She died on June 2, 1824. She may have been originally buried at the old Methodist Church cemetery, which is no longer in existence. It was near their home at the time, and Rosanna "Rosa" Beard was Methodist. Those buried in the old Methodist Church cemetery were removed to the Grandview cemetery in ‘em. The site of the old cemetery is now that of a hospital.

Notes for MARY JANE MITCHELL:
In 1818, the first child was born to John and Rosanna Beard at their residence on Fourth Street. The first child was Mary Jane Mitchell. Mary Jane was probably named after her mother’s sister Mary Jane Beard.

In 1836, Mary Jane Mitchell died. As was the case with two year old Rebecca, Mary Jane may also have been originally buried at the old Methodist Church cemetery, which is no longer in existence. It was near their home at the time, and Rosanna was Methodist. Those buried in the old Methodist Church cemetery were removed to the Grandview cemetery in ‘em. The site of the old cemetery is now that of a hospital.
Mary Jane and Rebecca were re-buried in the Grandview cemetery in the same grave.

The "Pioneer Record" of Ross county gives the following names as representing early established families in west Scioto: William Rogers, Andrew and George Pontius, Peter Porter, James, Robert, Joseph, Jacob and William McDill; Michael, Thomas and Robert Adams; James McCrea, Joseph Clark, William Robinson, Enos and John Pursell, Jacob Grundy, Richard and John Acton, Thomas, Robert and William Brown, William Poole, James Danans, John and George Recohs, Daniel Dixon, Robert Worthington, Thomas Shields, James Pryor, Hugh and James Cochran, Samuel Smith, Daniel Augustus, James Carr, James Armstrong, Thomas Earle, Thomas Junk, and Thomas Arthur. The last named lacked but a few months of rounding out a full century on life's tempestuous journey.

this is probably referring to Sarah's relatives, haven't tracked them down yet. Died before 1870, because not found in the 1870 Census...

This census would put Elizabeth's birthdate at 1807...I believe she is in the 1840 census living with William, thus making her birthdate between 1811 and 1825 (3 females in the hh).

On Sep 13, 1999, this compiler visited the Ross County Courthouse where he copied the land desciption in the above deed in Volume 20, page 59 signed by his step-father, John Bushong and his mother, Elizabeth Bushong who signed with an "X".
All that tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county of Ross and State aforesaid, being part of Scotts survey Beginning at four sycamores at the mouth of Pattons run running S55W72 poles to a sugar tree, Thence South 66 degrees 166 poles to a white oak thence 59 1/2 W 64 poles to a white oak, thenece North 11 degrees E 84 poles to a hickory, thence N65 degrees E 108 poles to a hickory, thence S51 degrees E 38 poles to a dogwood thence 70 degrees E 42 poles to a white oak thence 33 degrees East 61 poles to a sugar tree, thence in a direct line to the Scioto River thence with the meander of the river to the place of Beginning, containing by computation two hundred and thirty and a half acres, be the same more or less.
