JACK BROWN BUSHONG

Jack Brown Bushong, 91, of Scottsville, Ky., passed away Sunday, Aug. 17,
2008, at Highland Ridge Assisted Living in Glasgow, Ky.

Jack was born and raised in Tompkinsville, Ky. He and his wife, Phyllis,
moved to San Luis Obispo in 1938. Over the years he owned the Texaco gas station
on the corner of Santa Rosa and Marsh, was ranch manager for Warren
Sinsheimer and the Sinsheimer Bros. and owned Bushong Realty. Jack enjoyed farming
and ranching in San Luis Obispo County. He was an active member of the
Caballeros and enjoyed horseback riding. He also enjoyed golfing and most of all,
spending time with family and friends. Jack and Phyllis moved back to Kentucky
in 2002.

Jack married Phyllis Marie Wilson on June 19, 1938, and they recently
celebrated their 70 years together with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Bushong; daughter Susan (Howard)
Franklin; grandchildren Lori (Jim) Stickley and Matthew (Keara) Franklin;
great-grandchildren Jimmy and Sam Stickley and Breanna and Katie Franklin.

Burial was at the Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Tompkinsville, Ky., the site of the
Bushong family farm.

ASBERRY WHITE was born in Monroe County, Ky., December 1, 1827, where he grew up and now resides. His father, Thomas White, was born about 1799, also in Monroe County. He was a son of Thomas White, Sr., who was born in Ireland; was a soldier in the Revolutionary war, and at an early day
immigrated to Kentucky, and settled in Crab Orchard, where he resided until about 1790, when he removed to Monroe County, and here he died. Thomas Sr., was a son of Peter White, who was also a native of Ireland. Thomas White, the father of our subject, married about 1825, Elizabeth,
daughter of Daniel and Martha (Frazer) Payne, of Monroe County. From this union sprang Jorden, Nancy (Norman), Martha (Jackson), Elizabeth (Bushong), Amanda (Hope), Sarah (Gillentine), and John T. Asberry White married, October 19, 1865, Parmelia S., daughter of George W. and Nancy
(Bryant) Bushong. To them have been born George T., Clayton G. and Birche O. Mr. White has by close economy and untiring industry, and without other assistance than such as was afforded by strong arms and a good constitution became the owner of 300 acres of well improved and
