SOUTH BEND ---- Investigation of bribery charges against two St. Joseph
county constables will be undertaken by the grand jury. Prosecutor George
Ruilson said the jury will reconvene Monday. Otto M. Sweltzer, constable of the
justice court of Charles Wills in Portage township, and WILLIAM BUSHONG of
the justice court of A. Noel DuComb, Clay township are charged by five
witnesses, four of them proprietors of liquor dispensaries, with collection of
protection money totaling $199 in ten days.

South Bend, Indiana, 26 December (AP) --- A St. Joseph county grand
jury indicted WILLIAM BUSHONG and Otto Switzer, township constables, late
today on charges of conspiracy, accepting bribes and impersonating state
officers. They are accused of accepting from $300 to $400 from liquor store
proprietors after threatening raids.

Burrel Parker and his wife Katherine Ann Parker came to Texas from the state of Mississippi in 1839. and settled in what is now Marion County near the town of Jefferson. The family moved from Jefferon to Kaufman County, now Rockwall County, in 1849. and settled on what was then the P. B. Harrison farm, where R. H. Hays now lives. In the year 1851 they moved from Harrison farm to Parker Branch about six miles from Rockwall which at the time had not been named. The family consisted of three boys and five girls, to wit: George Marion, Burrell Bryson, and Joseph (one son died in infancy) Martha Nancy, Ester, Kate and Sarah. I was well and personally aquainted with the entire family. Indeed they were our nearest neighbors for the most of my boyhood, and young manhood days. They moved out of Rockwall to what is now know as the Graner place about one and a half miles northwest of the town. There they resided until the year 1890. when they moved to the place where Mr. Lee Adams, now lives, and never moved again. Both the Father and mother died at this place. Their remains being placed in the Parker graveyard. It has been my pleasure to be personally aquainted with all of the children of this early pioneer family, as well as most of the families of children who have grown up in our community, and I am glad to be able to announce that none of the Parker children were ever known to be guilty or even accussed of anything unlawful or unbecoming good people. May the hand of God rest lightly and with especial favor upon those of the family left behind.

Samuel King and his wife Martha King came to Texas from the state of Tennessee in the year 1845. The settled on the Samual King headright of land now about two miles north of the town of Rockwall, the grant of land having been made to Samuel King in the year 1850. I have heard Aunt Martha, as she was commonly called, say that she had often scared the wolves from her cabin doorin the early days of Texas and that she had combat with a Panther, this is surely the life of a pioneer. The family consisted of one girl and one boy to wit: Nancy Ann and William J, both of these children were my schoolmates, and like the Parker children were good and one would well seek their association. I well remember them with great pleasure, revert to the times when I saught the company of these children for play on the creek and the hills and hollows of which are almost resoundingly with their voices yet. George MArion Parker was born Mar 9, 1832. Nancy Ann King was born Oct. 4, 1842. These two became husband and wife on Jan 3, 1861. Nancy Ann Parker died Aug. 20, 1907. and George Marion died Sept. 27, 1907. Just 37 days later. The following compose the family of childre. towit; Samuel, Monroe, Burrell (Bose) ThomasE., W. Valentine and John Wylie. There was one girl, died in infancy. Of these children all remain, but one Roe, or Monroe. Children let me admonish you who remain to so live that when the final summons come you will be ready to meet your Father and Mother; together, with that goodly host of pioneer settlers on the other side of the riverand in the land where parting comes no more. In the year of 1862 the bugle sounded for war and I think I can hear the Parker boys answering back to the call of their country. "Here we are, send us" they all went and served to the end. It has been reported that no more braver ever went to meet the foe. Of course Marion had to leave his boy babe Samuel behind. The others left Father, Mother, and sisters. No two families any where in this community did more for the support of the Confederate cause. Furnishing cloth made at home for the soldier boys, then the Parker and King family. The old time wheel and loom was in their homes long after the war. Now one more of the soldier boys comrades is laid away to answer again, and I think I hear him saying once more "Here I am. Send me." Only a few weeks ago we paid our last respects to the wife of this man. Both are buried out of sight. May they rest in peace. - E.C. Heath[3]

(birth dates and locations of his children). After finding the 1850
census( which I misplaced) 1834 date should change to 1836 or 7 and
the 1838 should be 1839.
