John Bushong and Jessie Mae Bledsoe (1915-1996) were married in November of 1930 in Pryor, Mayes County, Oklahoma. They raised three children. It wasn't until after WWII that John Bushong found his true calling, working as a mason in the construction business. John did this kind of work for about twenty years. The family moved about thirty miles south to Chelsea, OK where they would stay for many years.
Some of the projects John worked on during those years were fire boxes for Power Plants, the Oologah School, the Allawee School, many buildings for the Mental Hospital in Vinita, the armory in Tulsa, the Will Rogers Turnpike gates, and numerous more buildings and structures.
When John Bushong was sixty years old the doctors diagnosed him with Lupus. John lived with this disease for almost thirty years. Five or six years later in 1972, the couple decided to move to Nampa, Idaho. John died of pneumonia in October of 1994 at the age of eighty-eight. His son and grandson's family buried him and his wife next to his parents James & Samantha Bushong in the Chelsea Cemetery.

Joseph Samuel Bushong Jr.

Joseph Samuel BUSHONG Joseph Samuel Bushong, Jr. was born on February 2,
1925, in Burdette, SD; the first child of Joseph and Verda Bushong. After Joseph
Sr’s sudden death, the family moved to Miller, and then to Huron, SD. Joe
joined the Army in 1944, serving in the Pacific Theater until 1946. He returned
to South Dakota and worked for the railroad. He married Marilyn (Schiltz)
Schroeder in 1961 and moved to Renton, Washington where Joe worked as a
machinist for The Boeing Company for 25 years. Joe was an active man in his personal
and family life, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping, Boy Scouts, and
traveling, recently spending winters in Arizona and California. He is survived by
his wife Marilyn; brother Robert (Beryl) Bushong; step-sons Gary, Gordon
(Marsha) and Tim (Hollie) Schroeder; son Wynn (Shannon) Bushong; daughter Sandy
(Tim) Hubbard; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Memorial
Service will be held Thursday, March 13, at 10:00 a.m. at Cross & Crown
Lutheran Church, Renton, WA. Interment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent,
WA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church.

OSA BUSHONG, 82, DIES AFTER ILLNESS
MIDDLETOWN ----------"Osa W. Bushong, 82, of R. 1 Middletown, died Tuesday
in St. John's Hospital, Anderson, after an illness of several months.
A native of Henry County and a lifelong resident of the Middletown
community, he was the son of Andrew Jackson and Emma Lewis Bushong. He was a
veteran of World War I and a member of the United Methodist Church here.
Surviving are his wife, Gretchen; one daughter, Mrs. Shirell (Harriet)
Collis, and one sister, Mrs. C. P. Fleming, both of Middletown; two
grandchildren and one niece.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Ballard and
Shirey Funeral Home here by Rev. Morris Howell. Burial will be in
Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present

Mrs. Fleming was a member of Middletown United Methodist Church, its
WSCS, Middletown Home Economics Club and WCTU,
Survivors include her husband, Clancie; a daughter, Mrs. Dale Neese of
Milwaukee, Wis.; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Fleming will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Ballard
and Shirey Funeral home with Rev. Harold Chattin officiating. Burial will be
in Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 5
p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today."

MIDDLETOWN--------"Gretchen Bushong, 85, R. 1 Middletown, died Sunday
evening in Ball Memorial Hospital. She had been in failing health for three months.
Born Aug. 16, 1888, to George and Cora Spence Swain, she had lived in the
Middletown area all of her life. Her husband, Osa Bushong, preceded her in
death.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Middletown, the Athene
Literary Club and the Ammincis Class.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Shirell Collis of Middletown; two
grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in
Ballard and Shirey Funeral Home in Middletown where services will be at 10:30
a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Harold Chattin will officiate. Burial will be in
Mechanicsburg Cemetery."

MIDDLETOWN----"Clancie P. Fleming, 88, former resident of Middletown, died
Wednesday morning at Bradley Convalescent Center, Milwaukee, Wis. He had been
in failing health for several years.
Mr. Fleming was a member of the United Methodist Church, Middletown,
Middletown Masonic Lodge and Chapter. For many years he was superintendent of
Middletown Utilities and formerly had been employed by Delco Remy, Anderson.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Dale (Betty Ellen) Neese, Milwaukee,
Wis.; two grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Mechanicsburg
Cemetery with Rev. William Tressler officiating. There will be no
visitation. Ballard and Shirey Funeral Home is in charge of the services. Memorials may
be made to favorite charity."
