George M. Taft, 77, Was Lifelong Resident Of The Vicinity
Roscoe. - George M. Taft, 77, a lifelong resident of Roscoe, and for 18 years town supervisor, died suddenly in his home at 10:45 o'clock this morning. Mr. Taft was taking a bath, after returning from the business district, when he was stricken.
Mr. Taft was born in the old Taft homestead near Roscoe on Feb. 6, 1855. He has lived in Roscoe on 30 years. On Nov. 23, 1876, he was married to Miss Cora Carpenter, who died several years ago.
Surviving relatives are three daughters, Mrs. Helen McColl, Rochelle; Mrs. Edith Buchanan, Roscoe, and Mrs. Edna Morse, Monterey, Calif.
No funeral arrangements were announced today.

Mrs. Luella Smith Dies In Roscoe
Roscoe. - (Special) - Mrs. Luella Gregory Smith, aged 71, died here at midnight Thursday, having been in frail health for several years since the death of her husband., Jarvis [Jerald] R. Smith, on Jan. 22, 1924. Mrs. Smith had lived with Mrs. Sarah Ransom since then, and she died in the Ransom home.
She was born in Roscoe, Jan. 15, 1856, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Gregory. Her father was one of the early settlers of this section. She was married to Jarvis Smith in 1880 and they made their home at various times in Montana, Michigan and North Dakota, returning in their more advanced years to live here.
Mrs. Smith is survived by two children, Mrs. Richard Phelps, of Denver, Col., and Harry Smith of Roscoe, and by seven grandchildren.
The Rev. E.S. Nicholas will conduct funeral services in the Roscoe Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be in the cemetery here.
