EMMA LEE BUSHONG

Funeral services for Emma Lee Bushong, 89, who died at 7:30 PM Saturday
in her home, 2408 Avenue P, will be held at 2 PM Monday in the memorial
room of Broadway Funeral Home with the Rev. Compton Riley, pastor of the First
Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Galveston Memorial park.
Mrs. Bushong, the widow of George A. Bushong, was a Galveston resident
since 1922. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Irl Schlegal of Monterrey, Mexico;
four sons, Frank D. W. Gordon and George A. all of Galveston, and John C. of
San Francisco; two sisters Mrs. R. A. Cate and Mrs. J. S. lamb, both of
Chattanooga, Tennessee, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews
and other relatives.
Active pall bearers will be William Lee, Arthur Giese, John
Christensen, Frank Bavoux, Jack O'Toole and Homer Dee. Honorary pall bearers will be

FRANK D. BUSHONG
Funeral services for Frank D. Bushong, 77, of 2116 25th Street will be
at 3:30 PM Saturday in the Broadway Funeral Home, the Rev. John T. McCrea,
Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in
Galveston Memorial Park.
Mr. Bushong, a resident of Galveston for the past 40 years, died Friday
morning at John Sealy Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was a
carpenter and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Services include his wife; a sister, Mrs. Earl Schlegel of
Montmerrey, Mexico and a brother John Bushong of San Francisco. After his father died...

GEORGE BUSHONG

George Bushong, 58, a resident of Galveston for 35 years died at 9 am
Friday in John Scaly Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Bushong was a prominent local club pianist. he was born in
Chattanooga, Tennessee, 15 December 1903.
He was a resident of 503 21st Street, Apartment 17 and was a member of
the musicians Local and of the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Audrey Bushong of Galveston; a
daughter Mrs. Diana Lee Guynes of El Campo, Texas; a son Donald Bushong
of SAC USAF of Frances E. Warren Air Base, Wyoming; a sister Mrs. Irl
Schlegal of Monterrey, Mexico; three brothers Frank of Galveston, Gordon of
Houston and John C. Bushong of San Francisco, California; a grandchild, nieces,
nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday in the memorial room of
Broadway Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Will R. Johnson, pastor of the First
Presbyterian Church officiating.
Burial will be in the family plot in Galveston Memorial Park. Stone photo present

Hazel Catherine Connelly was born on 15 March 1913 in Coleman, Coleman County, Texas. She and James Andrew Bushong were married on 1 September 1934. She died on 22 March 2011, at age 98, in Odessa, Ector County, Texas. She was buried in Ector County Odessa Cemetery, Odessa, Ector County, Texas.

ODESSA Hazel Catherine Bushong, 98, of Odessa, passed from this world to her heavenly home on March 22, 2011.

She was born on March 15, 1913 in Coleman County, Texas to T. S. and Lola Mae Connelly. She married Jim Bushong on September 1, 1934. They moved to West Texas in 1940 and raised five children.

Hazel was a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother as well as protector and spiritual example. She loved her Lord and her children with all her heart. She spent these many years loving, laughing and praying with and for her family and others brought into her life.

She will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful person who cooked her way into others lives. Most often seen around home wearing an apron, she always met guests and family with a smile and the offer of a meal. She was a servant to all. She will be sorely missed but is today already attending a large homecoming. She stored her treasures there.

Those left to cherish her memory are three sons, George A. Bushong and wife Louellen, Gerald R. Bushong and wife Debbie, all of Odessa, and Lewis W. Bushong of Abilene, a sister, Marie Walker of Mc Camey, 16 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James A. (Jim) Bushong, a son, James W. (Jimmy) Bushong and a daughter, Mary H. Sanders, five brothers, three sisters, two great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, March 24 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 25, in the Hubbard-Kelly Chapel, Rev. David Henry officiating with interment following at the Ector County Cemetery.

James William "Jim" Bushong was born August 17, 1935 in Coleman County, Texas. He passed from this life on May 31, 2010. Jim married the love of his life and soul mate, Shirley, on October 12, 1956. He attended Odessa High School and Odessa College. He worked in the oilfield for 40 years, and retired as Production Foreman from Ocean Energy in 1999. Jim was preceded in death by his granddaughter Norma Jean Bushong, great-grandson Brandon Clay Jackson, and his father James Andrew Bushong. Known as hard-working, honest, and a faithful Christian, Jim was also fun-loving and mischievous to those who knew him best. He was a dependable and caring husband, father, and grandfather who was always there when we needed him. Jim loved motorcycles (in his younger days), sports (especially the Odessa Broncos), gardening, genealogy, and traveling. He loved the Lord and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a Texas Master Gardner, which brought him so much pleasure. Survived by: wife Shirley Jean Bushong, daughter Jackie Gilbreath and husband Don, son Doug Bushong and wife Kelly, daughter Gail White and husband Doug, son Randy Bushong, daughter Sandy Nease. Grandchildren Melissa Williams, Chris Jackson, Tina Myers, Jamie Gilbreath, Justin Jackson, Kourtney Mewhorter, Renee Pettigrew, Makailey Pittman, Lyndsey Bushong, Jason Bushong, Tyler McCann, Tara Bushong, Cassie Bradley, Ryan White, Brandon and Lauren Crosby and 15 great-grandchildren. Mother Hazel Bushong, brothers George Bushong and wife Louellen, Lewis Bushong, Gerald Bushong and wife Debbie, sister Mary Sanders. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Loved dearly by all, including his brother-in-laws Tim, Wylie, and J.D. Hokett and his sister-in-law Greta Campbell. The family will receive friends at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 from 6 pm to 7 pm. A celebration of Jim's Life will be on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 10 am at Calvary Baptist Church 8644 Andrews Hwy., Odessa, Texas with Pastor James Bishop officiating.
