Lowell R. "Bud" Bushong, 94, of Bryan passed away Wednesday morning at his home. He was born on June 14, 1919 in Madison Township, Ohio to E. Bert and Bertha J. (Fox) Bushong. Bud graduated from Pioneer High School in 1938. After high school he married Betty M. Caulkins, and she preceded him in death in February 2011. Bud proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II, in the Battle of the Bulge and in the Battle of the Hurtgen Forest.

Bud was a Madison Township farmer and owner of Bud's Supermarket in Pioneer for 21 years, retiring in 1973. He then worked at Wilco Machine and Tool in Bryan for 11 years, retiring again in 1984. Bud was a lifetime member of the Pioneer American Legion.

Bud is survived by two daughters, Sandra (James) Rupp of Pioneer and Sharon (William) Burrows of Port Huron, Michigan; daughter in law Joyce Bushong of Calhoun, Georgia; nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, son Bill Bushong in April 2012 and one sister Doris Turrittin.

Interment will follow at Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer with military rites provided by the Pioneer Veterans.

Predeceased by her husband, John. Survived by her children, John, Veryl, Gayle and Donna. Also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Anabelle studied voice and music at Oregon State University. She was a member of the Redwood City Fun After Fifty. She volunteered in different capacities, the longest being the pianist for the Club.

Private family service was held. Internment at Skylawn Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials may be made to Pathways Hospice Foundation, 395 Oyster Point Blvd., Suite 128, South San Francisco, CA 94080.

Charles Edward Bushong, age 75 of West Liberty, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Morgan County Appalachian Regional Hospital in West Liberty, Kentucky.

Charles was born August 18, 1933 in Glasgow, Kentucky in Barren County.

He was a retired farmer and served in the U.S. Army.

Surviving is his wife Janette (Burks) Bushong, West Liberty, KY and six children, Elizabeth Jean Hazel of Maine, Sullivan Junior Settlemires of Georgia, Jenny Rebecca Settlemires of Flemingsburg, KY, Ashley Nicole Settlemires of West Liberty, KY, Mary Louise Bushong of Florida, Charles Douglas Bushong of Florida and several grandchildren.

Funeral services will be condcuted 1:30 pm Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Chapel with Bro. Manford Wright officiating. Burial in the Bushong Family Cemetery in West Liberty, KY.

Visitation will be after 6:00 pm Friday at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home, West Liberty, Kentucky.

Pallbearers: Family & Friends

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Morgan County D.A.V.
