Sara Bushong
BUSHONG
Sara "Sally" Bushong, the most loving wife, mother, grandmother and great
grandmother, passed away at 2:05 A.M. on Saturday the 13th of December, 2008 at
the age of 88 due to complications from a fall that broke her arm. Sally was
born September 20, 1920 on a family farm in Blaine KY. She is the wife of
Herbert Harry Bushong, retired Air Force. They met in 1938 at Booth Business
School in Ashland, Kentucky. She later traveled to Washington D.C. to follow
Herb and they were married in 1940. They both held government jobs in the
General Accounting Office. Herb joined the Army Air Force after Pearl Harbor was
attacked. Due to Herb's military career, Sally and Herb lived in many
different states and countries including Germany, Luxemburg, France and England. She
worked various jobs as she moved around including the NCO Club at Rhein Main
AFB, Germany. She retired from Kings Daughters Hospital in Ashland, KY and
after retirement worked as the manager of Marisol resort on South Padre
Island, TX. She is survived by her husband, Herb, of 68 years. Also surviving her
are two sons, John and Perry Bushong, four daughters, Bonnie Cherrington,
Angela Sparrow, Sonya Bushong, and Cheryl Cummins, fifteen grandchildren and
eleven great grandchildren scattered across KY, TX, WA, and FL. Grandma will
surely be missed this Christmas. A memorial service will be held at a later date
on her farm in Kentucky. My Father, Herbert Harry Bushong, was born November 14, 1916, to set the record straight. He and my Mother had 6 children. He is still living, at the age of 95, in a nursing home in Ft. Worth, Texas. All of his siblings are deceased. My Mother's middle name is Etta.

John Nusum Bushong was my Grandfather and we took care of him until his death at the age of 98. It was unfortunate that he was not a story teller because I would have wanted to know about his life, being born in 1874.

Thank you again.
