He is survived by ...five sisters, Brenda (Bob) Fearson, Judy (Louie) Murphy, Gerrie Bushong, Vicky (Bernie) Cluskey, and Tammy (the late Rich) Kalb; and four grandchildren. Judy Lynn Murphy, 69 of rural Sparland, IL, passed away on Thurs., Nov. 30, 2023, in her home with her husband by her side. She was born Oct. 29, 1954 in Peoria, IL to Richard “Jerry” Bushong and Eva Lee “Gayle” Conrad.

On Mar. 6, 1971, she married her best friends and adventure partner, Louis Murphy. They shared over 52 years together and raised two children, Riley “Scott” Murphy and Regina Murphy, both of Sparland. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Kailee Cordes of Dekalb, Chloe (Ryan) Bogner of Lacon, Riley Murphy of Sparland, and McKayla Martin of Princeville; and six great-grandchildren, Addison, Ayla, Ridge, Mallory, Bellamy and River.

In life, Judy shared her gifts of baking, gardening, painting and quilting. Many Christmas trees feature her annual, personalized Christmas ornaments that she created for over 40 years. Her family and friends have been blessed by the many quilts and quilted gifts she lovingly made. For many years, she sold her painted creations at craft sales and in small stores.

For over 50 years, Judy was an active member at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lacon, IL. She spent 11 years as the 4-H Youth Development Coordinator for Marshall-Putnam Counties through the University of IL Cooperative Extension Service, followed by assisting Bob Summitt Photography for 11 years. She was known for her creative problems solving, strong organizational skills, and love of working with youth and teens.

Judy is survived by Louis, Scott and Regina; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; seven sisters and one brother, Cathy (Dan) Bushong of Globe, AZ, Brenda (Bob) Fearson of Peoria, IL, Gerrie Bushong of Metamora, IL, Russell (Angela) Conrad Jr. of Poplar Bluff, MO, Corinna (Roosevelt) Jones of Battle Ground, WA, Vicky (Bernie) Clusky of Mapleton and Tammy Kalb of Hanna City; her step-father, Russell (Bobbie) Conrad of Middleburg, FL; multiple brothers and sisters through marriage; and many nieces and nephews.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother; and her brother, Richard “Jerry” Bushong Jr.

Visitation was from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Mon., Dec. 4, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Church, Lacon, IL. A funeral mass followed at 12 p.m. Cremation rites will be accorded and a private family burial will be held at a later date. Grace Evelyn Roberts was born on 11 September 1931 in Louisiana. She and Morris Lee Bushong were married on 11 May 1979 in Harris County, Texas. She died on 24 April 2004, at age 72, in Sante Fe, Galveston County, Texas. She was buried in Mount Rose Cemetery, Livingston, Polk County, Texas.

LIVINGSTON – Grace Evelyn Bushong, 72, of Santa Fe, died Saturday, April 24, 2004, at her residence.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, April 27, at Mt. Rose Cemetery near Livingston, with Pastor Dale Touler officiating.

Mrs. Bushong was born on Sept. 11, 1931 in Pleasant Hill, La. to parents William and Florence Beehan Roberts.

She was a retired upholsterer and former area resident.

Survivors include five children, Gene Wilson of Coventry, Conn., Darryl Wilson of Freddysville and Andrew Rash Jr. of Santa Fe, Melissa Welch of Dickinson and Cynthia Jowers of Santa Fe; two brothers, William Roberts of Livingston and Donny Roberts of Baton Rouge, La. and eight grandchildren.

Arrangements were by Pace Funeral Home.

MT. VERNON — Roy Nordin, 87, died on July 9, 2011, at Summit Place in Mooresville, N.C. He was born on Aug. 20, 1923, in Mt Vernon. He was the son of Robert Nordin and Clary (Heintz) Nordin.

He is survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Evelyn Nordin, who lives in Mt. Vernon; his daughters, Carolyn Nordin Bushong (and mate Alan Errickson) of Denver, Colo. and Ruth Krueger (married to Ron Krueger) of Cornelius, N.C. He is also survived by his grandson Brett Krueger and great-grandson Cameron Krueger of Charlotte, N.C. His nephews Mike Nordin and David Nordin still reside on what was the original Nordin family farm property just outside Mt Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Rudolph, and his sisters Alice Nedderman and Lucille Reed.

Mr. Nordin grew up on a farm purchased by his parents when they moved to the area from Sweden and Norway over 100 years ago. He lived on that same property for over 80 years. He moved to Mooresville, N.C. about 6 years ago to be close to his daughter and grandson.

While in Mt Vernon Mr. Nordin owned his own trucking business, specializing in construction work. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his friends and family. He was well known for always being willing to help and for raising tomatoes and giving them away to his many friends.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Mt Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel on Wednesday with Pastor Josepha Leche officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Hospice was a blessing to Mr. Nordin and his family at the end of his life in North Carolina and his family suggests that memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Good Samaritan and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
