BUSHONG RITES HELD

Tom T. Bushong of Gatesville died 20 July while visiting in Aransas
Pass. He was 81.
Funeral services were held at 2 PM last Thursday in the Marshall
Funeral Home Chapel of Aransas Pass with Rev. Dan Profitt officiating. Burial was
in Prairie View Cemetery at Aransas Pass.
Mr. Bushong was born in Aransas Pass and lived there many years. He had
lived in the Gatesville area for over 20 years and had made his home in
Gatesville the past three years.
Survivors include his wife Mrs. Margaret Bushong of Gatesville; six
sons, John Bushong and Jess Bushong of Gatesville, Tommie Bushong of Route 4
Gatesville, James Bushong of the United States Air Force at Montgomery,
Alabama, Morris Bushong of Houston and Philip Bushong of Fort Worth; eight
daughters, Mrs. Lucille Henry of Odessa, Mrs. Ocie Mae Trentham and Mrs. Ann
Dixon, both of Aransas Pass, Mrs. Marie Stanger and Miss Mary Bushong both of
Gatesville, Mrs. Isabelle Babbitt of Vernon, Mrs. Hazel Owens of Rockport
and Mrs. Ellen May of Houston; one stepson Ronnie Brown of Gatesville; one

Services for Mrs. Neva A. Bushong, 85, of 3815 Arlington Avenue, will be at
10 a. m. Friday in Chalfant-Perry-Klaehn Funeral Home. The Rev. William
Meddock will officiate and burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery. Mrs.
Bushong died at 6:30 p. m. Monday in Lutheran Hospital where she was a patient
only 8 hours. She was a member of Christ Methodist Church, and Past Matron
and a member of Chapter 432, Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are a son,
William B. Bushong, Erie, Pennsylvania; two granddaughters and two
great-granddaughters. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 until 4 and 7
until 9 p. m. today and from 5 until 9 p. m. Thursday.

William Blair Bushong was born on 16 July 1907 in Crestline, Crawford County, Ohio. He and Gertrude A. Allward were married on 5 July 1930 in Indiana. He died in 2001, at age ~94. He was buried in Curlew Hills Memory Gardens, Palm Harbor, Pinellas County, Florida.

or maybe Minnesota. Grandpa died November 19, 1954, in Dayton, OH. He was 62 -
born January 23, 1892 in Bellfountain, IN. The family Bible has Alfred H.
Bushong, born May 6, 1861, marrying Mary Evans, born October 15, 1859, on May
29, 1880, and then marrying Nora J. Franklin, born July 26, 1873, on February
25, 1890. The Bible lists the births of Robert Melvin Bushong on April 5,
1881; Isaac Elmer Bushong on May 30, 1883; Della Myrtle Bushong on July 21,
1887; Glenwood Oscar Bushong on January 23, 1892; Idona Ethel Bushong on March
17, 1894; Rosco Anderson Bushong on April 15, 1901. There is a part of the page
between Idona and Rosco that has been torn out of the Bible so I don't know
if there were more children. I think the first three were from Alfred and
Mary and the last three or more were from Alfred and Nora. Robert died August 2,
1886 at the age of 5; Mary died May 2, 1888; Isaac died in 1924 at the age
of 41; Alfred died August 1, 1935. Nora Bushong is shown as "Nora J. Faller ne
Bushong" and dying September 25, 1939, age 66.

Mary C. Bushong, wife of Alfred H. Bushong, died 2 May 1889, aged 29
years 6 months, and 18 days. She was born in Delaware County, Ohio, where she
lived until 1865, when her parents moved to Cumberland County, Illinois.
Her father died in 1877 of consumption, and shortly afterwards she came to
Jay County, Indiana where she resided until her death. She was married to A.
H. Bushong, 29 May 1880. Her eldest child died 2 August 1886. She leaves a
husband, two children, five brothers, and
one sister to mourn. She joined the United Brethren Church in 1886, and lived
a consistent Christian until death. She was sick 8 months with that dread
disease, consumption, but bore her affliction with Christian fortitude,
often wishing for death to come and release her from suffering. About fifteen
minutes before her death, she said to her husband, "I am going soon. It is
all right with me. I am going to see little Robbie. Good-by."

Della Myrtle Bushong, daughter of Alfred H. and Mary C. Bushong, was born
21 May 1887, and died 13 July 1904, aged 17 years and 23 days. She united
with the U. B. Church at Providence Chapel in the winter of 1903, and died
trusting in Jesus. The funeral was conducted by s. L. Beougher.

John Charles Faller was born in 1894. He and Retha Malere Bushong were married. He died in 1971, at age ~77. He was buried in Calvary Cemetery, Erie, Erie, County, Pennsylvania.
