Patsy Ann Ames, 63, of Macon, MO, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2013, at Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon. Patsy was born on October 22, 1949, in Marked Tree, Arkansas the daughter of Orville A. and Tessie Marie (Bushong) Dawson. She was united in marriage to James Ames on March 20, 1970, in Macon. Patsy attended the Gospel Center Church and enjoyed crossword puzzles, listening to music, watching television and riding her scooter. Patsy is survived by one daughter, Susan Marie Ames of Moberly, MO, several brothers and sisters, George “Joe” Franklin Dawson, Orin “Jackie” Austin Dawson, Betty Sue Yount and her husband Jim, Tommy Dawson, Donald “Donnie” Ray Dawson and his wife Janette, Barbara Lynn Burkhart and her husband Clifford, Robert Dale Dawson and his wife Sandy, Joyce Marie Allen, and several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and several brothers and sisters, Jennie Lynn Braman, Neonie Dawson, Billy Gene Dawson, Judy Dawson, James Edward Dawson, and Larry Austin Dawson. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, March 1, 2013, at the Gospel Center Church in Macon with Rev. Elaine Allred officiating. Robert Conrad 'Bob' Cowan
Robert Conrad "Bob" Cowan, 86, of West Mansfield, died Tuesday, April 30,
2002, at Hardin Hills Nursing Home, Kenton, following an extended illness.
He was born in Bloomington, Ill., on Dec. 6, 1915, a son of the late Adair
and Ida Conrad Cowan.
On Jan. 23, 1941, he married the former Rebecca Bushong in Cincinnati, just
prior to his departure for the military. She survives.
Raised in Horton, he lived his entire life in Logan County. He owned and
operated Bushong and Cowan Plumbing and Heating with his father-in-law for
nearly 30 years and was the third generation to be engaged in the
well-drilling, plumbing and heating business.
Upon his retirement in the mid-1970s, he became a plumbing instructor with
Ohio Hi-Point Joint Vocational School, where he taught until 1982.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in Europe and Africa
from 1941-1946, achieving the rank of captain with the Signal Corps and
receiving the Bronze Star.
A dedicated citizen of West Mansfield, he gave 18 years of service as a
village council member and was a former mayor. He was past commander and
adjutant of the West Mansfield American Legion Post 603, a member of the West
Mansfield United Methodist Church and was a charter member of the West
Mansfield Lions Club.
He was a former member of the West Mansfield Conservation Club, an original
member of the Bokescreek Volunteer Fire Department and was an avid HAM
radio operator with the call letters of KE8FB.
He enjoyed fishing and hosting fish fries for family and friends at his
summer cottage at Indian Lake. He and his wife traveled throughout the country
and especially enjoyed taking trips with other local couples on chartered
bus tours. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing and his family.
Along with his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Penninah (Jim)
Smith of Kenton, and Melody (Donald) Warman and Connie (Bill) Troop, both of
Bonita Springs, Fla.; a son, Jack (Judy Crawford) Cowan of Lima; five
grandchildren, Laura Croutwater, Kyle (Lisa) Croutwater, Kellie Smith, Teresa
Smith and Ashley Cowan; one great-granddaughter, Nicole Croutwater; a sister,
Helen (Jonathan) Elliott of West Mansfield; a brother, Richard (Mildred)
Cowan of Bellefontaine; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Donnabelle Jacobs and Nellie
Vernon, and a brother, Dale Cowan.

Bonita L. (Bushong) Eckman, 66, of Strasburg, died Monday, February 11,
2008, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born June 12, 1941, in Lancaster, she
was the daughter of the late Roy and Elizabeth (Auker) Bushong. Mrs. Eckman
is survived by her husband, Robert E. Eckman, of Strasburg.
Mrs. Eckman was a member of the Mount Eden Evangelical Lutheran Church.
She worked as a cook at Betty's Drive-in Diner as well as the Lancaster Host
Farm Resort. Additionally, Bonita was a Past Matron of the Robert Fulton
Chapter #446 of the Order of the Eastern Star. In her free time, she enjoyed
traveling with her loving husband Robert.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Eckman is survived by two brothers: Jay
and Curt Chambers; and two sisters: Sunnie Dee Hamilton and Lynn Joy
Plantholt.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2008,
at the Gundel Funeral Home, 415 North Duke Street, Lancaster. The viewing
will be from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m., at which time final rites will be
accorded by her Order of Eastern Star Chapter. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to the Robert Fulton Chapter #446, O.E.S, c/o
