Daniel B. Garber was the son of Abraham Garber and Anna Miller. He was born

1888 he married Edna Ellen "Ella" Bushong who was born 25 March 1869. His

Catharine Jane Ryman. Many of these people are buried in Rader's Church
Cemetery near Timberville, VA.
Ella Bushong was born 25 March 1869 and died in 1969. She lived a very long
life.
Many of these people are mentioned in Mattie Bushong Good's Diaries. The
lineage is:
John Bushong (Will of 1831 in Lancaster County, PA)
Peter Bushong married to Barbara Wenger
Philip Bushong married to Mary Knupp
Abraham Bushong married to Catharine Jane Ryman
Edna Ellen "Ella" Bushong married to Daniel B. Garber
Note: Daniel's brother John H. Garber was a very well know Brethren
minister in the Valley who died in 1930. Mattie Bushong Good's entry for Monday,
8 September 1930 mentions John H. Garber's death.
Monday, Sep. 9---"Cloudy and gloomy all day sprinkled a little. Mr. John H.
Garber died this morning between five and six. He was taken sick yesterday
evening bringing up cows and could hardly get back to the house. He got
better but had another hard spell about nine oclock. The Doctor said he had
neuralgia of the heart. He seemed well and was so jollie yesterday, it was
certainly a shock to us all."
Wednesday, Sep. 10 ---"Clear and warm. Evla and I attended brother Garbers
funeral this afternoon. We went with Mr. Kingans. It was a large funeral. I
feel so sorry for the family, especially Mrs. Garbers she takes it very
hard."

David Bosang
M, #10370, b. about 1728, d. 1777
Biography
David Bosang was born about 1728 in Burmbach, Weilbourg, Germany. He and
Maria Barbara were married on 15 May 1758 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He died in 1777, at age ~49, in Augusta County, Virginia.
David Bosang was also known as Bosseng. * David Bosang arrived on ship Two Brothers 1753. He signed his name to multilple lists, Bosseng. As an immigrant he Anglicized his name to Bosang - which sounds exactly the same.
He is not immediately related to the Boschung family, as has been proven.
After 9+ years of unproven assertions, a researcher, Gloria Neiger Bushong attempted to prove with DNA a linkage to the Boschung family. A DNA project was created and results were negative. The Bosseng/Bosang family were of a completely different haplogroup and the lines separated during the last ice age, approximately 30,000 years ago. David BOSANG

This is the transcription of a letter written in the early 1900s. The
Homsher family lived in Columbiana Co until about 1851 when they moved
to Noble Co, IN. I have added the children and their spouses at the
end. Most came from Columbiana Co and several were married there.
"A Brief History of the Homsher Family written from memory as I have
nothing to refer to:
Samuel Homsher and Elizabeth Hawk (Haak) were marred October 10, 1821 or
1822 in the neighborhood of Philadelphia. They staid in that vicinity
until they had six children. Uncle Albert was their youngest, he was
only one year old when they moved away and went to Columbiana Co, Ohio.
My Mother remembered all this and she at that time was eight years old.
(This must have been written by a daughter of Abigail Homsher born May
5, 1827.)
They moved to Ohio in the Spring of 1835 and Uncle Frank was the first
one that was born in Ohio. ((Benjamin F. (Franklin?) Homsher born April
8, 1836.)) They lived in Ohio about 16 years when they moved to Noble
Co, Indiana in 1851 in the fall of the year. Their youngest child at
that time was six years old. (Mary A. Homsher born July 18, 1845.)
They remained in Noble Co, Indiana the rest of their lives and they were
married 59 years and 6 months when Grandmother passed away. She died
May 1, 1882 at her home and Grandfather lived one year longer and died
at Uncle Harrison Cramer's home.
After moving away from Pennsylvania, they did not write to their folks
as they should have done and Mrs. Shoemaker, Grandfather's older sister,
said she thought that Sam was dead as she never heard anything more from
him. I was at the home of Mahlon Freese who was Grandfather's nephew
and met Charles Shoemaker and his brother, Adam, who lived in
Philadelphia and I saw some of these men's sisters and their families.
I thought they were very nice folks and they were very kind to me and
they all lived in Philadelphia except Freese who lived 24 miles away in
a small town. There were some other relatives that I did not see at all
- they lived out of the City. I do not know how many brothers and
sisters Grandfather had and do not know how many Grandmother had. I saw
these folks in 1876.
I did not see any of Grandmother's people and did not hear of any of
them except Abram Hawk, her brother who died in a few years afterward.
He lived about 30 miles from the City and there was no one to go with
me, so I did not go there.
I have told you all that I know about the history of the family.

Biography
Abraham S. Garber was born on 26 August 1827 in Shenandoah County, Virginia. He and

Abraham Garber
.
Birth: Aug. 6, 1827
Death: Jun. 5, 1898
On last Sunday evening, June 5. 1898, at 7 o'clock, at his home, near Moore's Store, Va., Mr. Abraham Garber died of progressive paralysis, aged 70 years, 9 months, and 9 days. A week or so prior to his death the disease made a visible attack on Mr. Garber's right hand, and in a few days his whole side became paralyzed, and he sank into unconsciousness.
Mr. Garber was a son of Mr. Jacob (Yockley'') Garber and wife (nee Hoover). He was born, lived, and died at Garber homestead, near Flat Rock church, where his remains were buried, Tuesday morning, at 10 o'clock, and appropriate funeral services were rendered by Elder B. W. Neif, of the German Baptist ("Tunker'') church, of which he was a prominent member for twenty-one years. Over 1000 persons were present—seventy-one vehicles and ____ two persons on horse back leaving the house with the procession. Among the others present were Messrs. George W. Koontz, L. S. Walker. R. D. Funkhouser, and J . W. Wenger, respectively treasurer, county clerk, superintendent of the poor, and jailer of Shenandoah county; John Funk, Joseph M. Painter, and John H. Hepner, supervisors of Johnston, Madison, and Ashby districts, and J. W. Santmiers, ex supervisor of Madison.
The pall-bearers were Messrs. Frank, Solon, John and George Bowman and Silas and John Branner.
Mr. Garber married Miss Anna Miller, daughter of Mr. Jacob Miller, (better known as county line" Jake Miller), and wife, who was a Miss Jones. The union was blessed with fourteen children—one daughter Anna dying young. Those living are—Martin, Moore's Store; Joseph, Broadway; John and Samuel, near New Market; Daniel, Timberville; Noah, at the home place; David, (unmarried), Roanoke; Mrs. David Roller, near New Market; Mrs. Dil Andes and Mrs. Joseph Orebangh, Moore's Store; Mrs. Michael Hess, Lexington; Mrs. Kate Haun, Timberville; Mrs. Sydney Rhodes, Rockingham, Missouri.
Mr. Garber's first wife died June 4, 1888—her two sisters, Mrs. Noah Orebaugh, Moore's Store, Va., and Mrs. Jeremiah Clemmons, Norborne, Mo., being the only ones of the Miller family living. His second wife was Miss Fannie Cline, of near Broadway, who died July 27,1897, without issue. Of Mr. G.'s brothers and sisters, Martin, John, Joseph, and Samuel, Mrs. Michael Bowman and Mrs. Daniel Neff, all are dead, except Samuel, near Moore's Store, Va., aged about
seventy five.
Mr. Garber had fifty six grandchildren, forty-nine of whom are living. All of his children were present at the funeral except Mrs. Rhodes and Mrs. Hess, whose husband was present.
By his thrift, industry, and good judgment, Mr. G. acquired quite a competence in this life—farms and other property—and manifested much liberality. Much of his competence came through an old bachelor brother, Mr. Joseph Garber, who died some years ago. He dealt largely in stock, which he sold to home dealers. He was district roadmaster a number of years, and has been supervisor of Lee district since July 1, 1881—ninth term—and has been chairman of the
Board of Supervisors of Shenandoah county for ten or twelve years, succeeding John Hansenfluck. and his election from time to time has been unanimous. Not a partisan, nor seeking the office, the Democratic conventions always gave him the nomination, and the people elected him. Without bias or prejudice, under no obligations for favors, and being largely interested, Mr. G. faithfully, honestly, and creditably filled the office, commanding the respect, confidence, and good will of all. He was an honest man, seeking the best interests of the county, district, and people, and thus passes away a good citizen, a progressive man, and a faithful officer, without spot or blemish.
