Memorial services for L. Virginia Hildreth, 89, who passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Wesley Acres in Des Moines, will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, July 26 at the Norwalk United Methodist Church. Inurnment of cremains will be private.

Virginia was born in Des Moines to Eunice McKenzie. She started school at Maple Grove and in 1942 graduated from Lincoln High. Virginia worked at the war plant in Ankeny and at age 20 joined the WACS. In 1945, she married Donald Hildreth. Don came home from Europe in 1946 and Virginia got out of the Army on his discharge. They moved to Ames and attended school at Iowa State. After Don graduated, they moved to Moline, IL, where he was a state milk inspector. In 1954, they moved to a farm in Iowa where they lived for 46 years and Virginia enjoyed belonging to the Plainview Community Club, being a 4H leader, teaching Sunday school classes, antiquing, camping with the family and being a mother and wife. By the time they left the farm, they had eight children, seven boys and one girl. They moved to Cumming for two years and later, because of ill health, moved to The Village in Indianola. Virginia's greatest joy was her children.

Survivors include her children, Lee (Dave) Polley, Tim (Maureen), Dan (Kathy), Sam (Leisa), Joe (Aggie), Don (Renae) and daughter-in-law, Jane Hildreth; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; two sons Tom and Matt; brothers, Jack, Mike, Paul and Terry; and sister, Molly.

KERRVILLE — Mrs. Guendell V. Bushong, 94, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away
Saturday, June 16, 2007, at her residence. She was born on August 9, 1912, in
Uvalde County, Texas, to Sam Houston McGinnis and Annie Campbell McGinnis,
one of seven children. She was a housewife and a member of Trinity Baptist
Church.
She loved her Lord and church, playing bridge, horses and tennis. She had
visited 123 countries around the world and all 50 states.
She married J. L. Bushong on July 7, 1933. He and a son, Jack Bushong,
preceded her in death.
Survivors are: two sons, Perry Bushong and wife, Joan of Mountain Home,
Texas and Paul Bushong and wife, Roz of Ingram, Texas; four grandchildren, Laurie
Lang of Boerne, Texas, Jane Brown of Mountain Home and Marcus and Benge
Bushong, both of Ingram and six great grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mrs. Bushong will be held on Monday, June 18, 2007,
at 3 p.m. at Garden of Memories with Rev. Bill Blackburn officiating.
