FORMER FOREST HOME PIONEER IS DEAD
An obituary of Albert B. Bushong, a former resident of the Forest Home
neighborhood is published below. Mr. Bushong was an uncle of Mrs. Walter Swink of
the Bethel neighborhood.
Albert B. Bushong was born August 9, 1870, in Poweshiek County. Here he grew
to manhood and was married to Miss Mary Trease. After their marriage they
resided in their home community for a few years and then they moved to
Oskaloosa and this has been their home for more than twenty years. He has been in the
employ of P.W. Sparks almost as long as he has resided here. He was well
known and highly respected. Wherever he has engaged in his chosen labor, he was
always in demand and work was always waiting for his hand. His final recovery
was fully expected, but very suddenly he came to the close of life's day.
When a young man he was baptised and united with the Christian church at Forest
Home. He did not change his membership when he came to Oskaloosa. He is
survived by his widow and three children, Miss Faye, Paul and Max, all at home
with their mother. Also by a sister, Mrs. F.L. Rakestraw, and two brothers,
Miles Bushong of California and Hugh Bushong of Des Moines. His death occured on
Thursday, Dec. 3. 1925, at the age of 55 years, 3 months and 24 days.
Interment was made in the Lynnville cemetery. Funeral service was conducted Sunday,
December 6, 1925 at Oskaloosa by Rev. George E. Purdy, pastor of the
Christian church. Miss Freda Schmiskle, deaconess of the Central M.E. church,
offered prayer. Local Union No. 1034 Carpenters and Joiners International Union of
America, of which the deceased was a charter member, attended in a body.

JOSEPH MILES BUSHONG

Joseph Miles Bushong, son of John and Mary Elizabeth Lawton Bushong,
was born on a farm southwest of Montezuma in the Forest Home vicinity on 31
December 1874, and passed away 11 March 1950 at the age of 75 years 2 months
and 10 days.
As a boy he attended the Forest Home rural school and joined the Forest
Home Christian Church. On 23 February 1896, he was united in marriage to
Mary Elizabeth Gorsuch and to this union five children were born, Mrs.
Matilda Swink of Salem, Oregon, Mrs. Wanda Kelley and Mrs. Helen Owen of Des
Moines, John F. Bushong and Harold M. Bushong of Montezuma.
Mr. Bushong made his home with Harold in his declining years. He spent
most of his life in Poweshiek and Mahaska counties, and was never too busy
to lend a helping hand to a neighbor or friend.
Besides his immediate family, he leaves five grandsons, Max Ray and
Leslie Clair Swink of Salem, Oregon; Donald C. Owen of Des Monies and Kenneth
Floyd and Billie Lee Bushong of Montezuma. There are also two great
Grandchildren; Leslie Ann Swink and Steven Ray Swink of Salem, Oregon.
His wife, parents, two brothers and one sister have preceded him in
death.

MILES BUSHONG WAS BURIED MONDAY
Funeral services for Miles Bushong were said Monday afternoon at 3
o'clock from the Steffy Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Ellis delivered the sermon.
Mr. Bushong passed away Saturday morning, 11 March, at the University
Hospital in Iowa City following several weeks illness. He spent most of the
75 years of his life in Poweshiek and Mahaska counties.
Mrs. C. W. Gorsuch sang "Will the Circle be Unbroken" and "Beyond the
Sunset" accompanied by Alice Underwood at the piano. Casket bearers were C.
W. Gorsuch, Louis Gorsuch, Clyde Gorsuch, Walter Van Whye, Fred Curry, and
Sammy Curry. Interment was in the Masonic IOOF cemetery. Joseph was born in 1874. He passed away in 1950.

Clara McKenzie Funeral Friday

Services for Mrs. Clara McKenzie, 66, of 420 College ave., will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Highland Park funeral home. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery.
Mrs. McKenzie, who died of cancer Tuesday at Broadlawns General hospital, was born in Millersburg and had lived here 26 years. She was a member of Acme Rebekah Lodge 124 and Highland Park Christian church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Wallace Shaffer and Mrs. Frank McCarthy, both of Des Moines; three sons, John N. of Los Angeles, Cal., Gerald W. of Anderson, Mo., and Elwin M. of Kansas City, Mo., a sister Mrs. William Orcutt of Sedalia, Mo., 13 grandchildren and four great-grand children.

Mrs George Bozinoff 50, of 507 South Twenty-first Street died Saturday at
St Luke's hospital.
Lulu Bushong was born Sept 7, 1887 in Logan County Ohio. and was married to
George Bozinoff in 1910 in Saginaw, Mi.
They came to Saginaw to live here seven years ago from Jackson.
Mrs Bozinoff leaves her husband; four daughters, Mrs Thelma Hense of Bay
City, Mrs Irma Alles and Miss Rita Bozinoff of Saginaw and Miss Lorena Bozinoff
of Jackson . Six sons, William A of Sanford, Theadore and Orville of
Saginaw, Roy of Toledo and John and George of Jackson; her mother ;Caroline Bushong
of Saginaw; three sisters; Mrs Esther Meske, Mrs Zella Wilson, and Mrs
Goldie Heniz of Saginaw; three brothers; Ezra and Charles of North Dakota and
William H Bushong of Caro, and five grand children.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday at the Gossett funeral
home. Rev Shirley D. Kinde will officiate. Friends may see Mrs Bozinoff at the
