DIMON Jean Isabell Dimon Arnold
89, of Towanda, Pa., died on Monday, June 11, 2012. She was residing at the Highlands Care Center in LaPorte, Pa., at the time of her passing. She was born in Rome, Pa., on February 21, 1923, beloved daughter to Harry Walter Dimon and Ruth Marie Buttles Dimon. Jean graduated from Rome High School in 1943 and obtained her beautician’s license from Dermal Way Beauty School in Elmira, N.Y. She proudly owned and operated Arnold’s Beauty Salon on Main Street in Rome for many, many years until her retirement. Jean was a devout Christian. She was a dedicated member of the Rome Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school and served as choir director for more than 20 years. She was a lay Chaplain at Memorial Hospital, spreading hope and faith to those most in need. Jean served on the board and was the president of the P.P. Bliss Museum in Rome. One of her many passions was music, and she was an accomplished piano and organ player. Jean shared her love of music through volunteerism, organizing and directing a local kitchen band that played throughout the community at local nursing homes and hospitals. An avid fisherwoman, she loved challenging her children and grandchildren to break her biggest fish records. Jean was a committed matriarch, hosting annual family Christmas Eve and Easter parties, birthday barbecues, and many varied festive family events ensuring her family stayed close, both emotionally and spiritually.

Jean is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry Gene and Beverly Arnold of Towanda, daughter and son-in-law, Roxanna Leigh and Leland “Butch” Ayers of Rome; grandchildren Tamera Jean and husband Mike Blakeman of Athens, Christopher Darrow Hayes of Mars, Pa., Tonya Sue Ayers of Towanda, Jacob and wife Toni Arnold of Mohrsville, Brock Bernard Ayers of Hornbrook, Jodilyn Coleman of Scranton, Justin and wife Tara Arnold of Evergreen; great-grandchildren Brittany Marie Lowin, Autumn Renee Nichols, Zachary Jordan Ayers, Tristin Wyatt Arnold, Logan Joel Arnold, Madicyn Steele Arnold; great-great-grandchildren Venessa Renee McNeal and Keira Ily Hunter McNeal; sister Rosemary Bushong and husband Bill of Rome; as well as various beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Bernard “C.B.” Arnold on February 24, 2003, daughters Claudia Jo Coleman on December 7, 1979 and Ruth Arnold Hayes on May 30, 2012, grandson Joel Edward Arnold on July 16, 1994, and great-granddaughter Vivian Mara Arnold on May 23, 2011. The viewing will be held Sunday evening, June 17 between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. at the Maryott- Bowen Funeral Home on York Avenue, Towanda, Pa. The funeral service will be held at the Rome Presbyterian Church on Monday, June 18, at noon with viewing one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Dr. Karen Ballard will be officiating at the service. Obituary for Rosemary Dimon Bushong

Rosemary Dimon Bushong, 96, of Rome, PA passed away peacefully at home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. She was born in Rome, PA on February 14, 1921 the daughter of Harry Dimon and Ruth Buttles Dimon.

Rosemary was a graduate and 1938 Class Valedictorian of Rome High School. In 1942, she graduated from Mansfield University where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics. In 1943, during World War II, Rosemary enlisted in the Women’s Army Corp where she attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and served in Virginia until completion of her military service in 1946. Following the war, she attended the Lewis Hotel Training School in Washington, DC where she met her charming southern future husband, William J. “Bill” Bushong of New Market, VA, a Navy Veteran. They were married in Rome, PA on June 4, 1949. Rosemary was a well-known Avon Products representative in the area for 20 years. Rosemary was an 80 year member of the Rome United Methodist Church where she was a dedicated choir member, Junior choir director, Sunday school teacher and held many positions. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, District 17 for decades and both Rosemary and her husband were representatives for the Salvation Army Service Unit.

Traveling and reading were among Rosemary’s many interests. Most of all, her church family was very important to her.

She is survived by her daughters, Pam DeWolf of Campbell, NY, Bonnie (Jack) Murphy of Chenango Forks, NY, grandchildren, Tiffani (Gary) Scott of Pensacola, FL, Derek DeWolf of Elmira, NY, 4 great grandchildren, niece, Roxanna Ayers and nephew, Larry Arnold. Rosemary’s family extends their deepest appreciation to her caregivers, Ann Leone and Monica Smith and to her neighbors for their loving care and devotion.

Rosemary was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Bill, on August 16, 2012, daughter, Crystal S. Bushong on January 14, 2015, sister, Jean Arnold and niece, Ruth Hayes in 2012.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rome United Methodist Church with Rev. Philip Wanck and Rev. Richard Davis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Rome Cemetery with Towanda American Legion Post No. 42 according full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions may be directed to the Rome United Methodist Church, in care of Karen Matoushek, Treasurer, 436 Williams Road, LeRaysville, PA 18829 or to the P.P. Crystal Sue Bushong, 60, formerly of Rome and Towanda, Pa. went home to the Lord, on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 at the Bradford County Manor.

Born March 17, 1954 at the Mills Hospital in Towanda, she was the daughter of Rosemary Dimon Bushong and the late William J. Bushong of Rome. She was a graduate of Northeast Bradford High School class of 1972. She was a member of the Rome United Methodist Church and sang in the Junior Choir and also attended Sunday School for many years. Crystal made many friends through Northern Tier Counseling, Futures, The Main Link, and years of living in Colonial Towers. As a first grader, she did not want a doll for Christmas, but a holster set and a horse. As a youth, Crystal attended Rancho De Paz and was voted camper of the week. She enjoyed life as well as shopping and music. Crystal played the piano very well and had a strong alto voice. Her laughter was infectious toward everyone.

She is survived by her mother, Rosemary Bushong of Rome; sisters, Pamela DeWolf and husband Tom of Campbell, N.Y., Bonnie Murphy and husband Jack of Chenango Forks, N.Y.; niece, Tiffani Scott and husband Gary of Palm Harbor, Fla.; nephew, Derek DeWolf of Ithaca, N.Y.; great-niece, Libby Scott; and great-nephews, Ian and Elliot Scott as well as several cousins.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa. with Rev. Jackie Condon, pastor of the Rome United Methodist Church, officiating, assisted by Rev. Richard Davis, Memorial Hospital Hospice Chaplain. Interment will be at a later date in the Rome Cemetery, Rome, Pa.

GEORGE B. "SKIP" BUSHON

George B. "Skip" Bushon, 77, of Hilton Head, South Carolina and Lexington, Kentucky, died 2 July 2009 in Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born 20 June 1932 in Wheeling, West Virginia, son of the late Mildred and George Bushon. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his sisters, Nancy Prickett Barger and Joan Lint. He is survived by by love of his life, wife Janice "Jan" Stewart Bushong; son, Scot Bushon of Louisville, Kentucky; daughters, Laurie Ash of Walton, Kentucky, Julianne Shewman (Jeff) of West Chester, Pennsylvania; Seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many dear friends.
George served in the Korean War at the age of 18. He attended Bethany College before receiving his B. A. from Duquesne University where he also attended graduate school.
He was employed with Anaconda/ARCO.
For the past 25 years George and Jan operated Sylvan Learning Centers in the Lexington area. Most recently he enjoyed his retirement in Hilton head, South Carolina.
Besides Jan, George's greatest joy was gathering his family once a year at Sunset Beach for fun, relaxation and golf.
His memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, 11 July 2009 at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40205. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

A native of Hamtramck, Mich., he moved here from Michigan in 1984. He was a member of Our Lady of the Springs Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was also a prisoner of war.

Joan Rose Piekarz Joan Rose Piekarz (nee Bushon), age 86, passed away at home surrounded by her family on October 17, 2009. Beloved wife of the late Lucian "Lou." Loving mother of Diane (Carlo) Ciaramitaro and Patty (Gary) Duveyoung. Proud grandmother of Nick, Matt, Lora, Phil and Stephen. Survived by sister Rita Davis, brother Ed Bushon, and many nieces and nephews. Family states she went to be with the Lord and to dance with her sweetheart Lou on Sweetest Day. Visitation Monday 2:30-9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Kaul Funeral Home, 27830 Gratiot, Roseville and Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass 10 a.m. at St. Angela Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers donations appreciated to F.E.A.T. (Families for Effective Autism Treatment of Louisville), P.O. Box 5214; Louisville, KY 40255.
