VIRGINIA M. LEATHERMAN
Virginia M. Leatherman age 86, of Albion has passed onto her maker 22
February 2012 at North Ridge Village in Albion.She has suffered from
Alzheimer's since 2001.
Mrs. Leatherman was born in Jefferson Township on the Bushong farm in
Albion on 25 December 1924 to Dale and Edna (Bower) Bushong. She married Ernest
Eugene Leatherman on 21 March 1943 at the old Methodist Church on South
Orange St. In Albion.
While Ernie was in the Army overseas Virginia worked at Flint & Walling
making products for the Army. After Ernie's return, Virginia worked at The
Halferty Drug Store in Albion and Essex Wire in Ligonier until 1956. Virginia
then entered Beauty College, she remained a beautician with her own shop
in Albion until 1977. After closing her shop Virginia joined Leatherman Bros
Ford Sales in the Parts & Service Dept. Then Ernie Leatherman Sales until
entering the nursing home in 2002. Virginia was a devoted passionate and
caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who gave her all. She
enjoyed family reunions, cooking & preserving, sewing, crafts, travling,
attending church & serveral community activities & clubs.
She and Ernie traveled to many states and sites abroad before Alzheimer's
ended her involvement. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in
Albion and served with many church activities and groups.
Survivors include her beloved husband Ernest Leatherman of Albion, two
sons, David Leatherman of Albion, Kenneth Leatherman of Syracuse, & one
daughter KayAnn (Lynn) Rice of Albion. two sister's Phyliss & spouse Fulhart of
Arizona, Mary (Nash) Konger of Fort Wayne. Several nieces & nephews, &
several step grandchildren & step great grandchildren. She was also blessed with
10 grandchildren & 19 great grand children, & 1 great great grandchild.
Scott (Mindy) Leatherman of Columbia City and 2 great grandchildren Lindsay
Leatherman of Washington DC, Dustin Leatherman of Albion Amy (Jim) Cavendar
of North Webster and 3 great grandchildren Robert (Beth) Leatherman of
Crawford Village Florida and 3 great grandchildren Matt Leatherman of Ligonier
and J great grandchildren Christopher (Wendy) Steffe of Albion and 4 great
grandchildren Annette (Bill) Luke of Albion and 5 great grandchildren & I
great great grandson Alesha Rice of Fort Wayne and 2 great grandchildren
Leslie Rice of Vance Air Force Base in Oklahoma She is proceed in death by her
brothers Glade, Bernard ,William & Donald Bushong. A great grandson
Brayden Steffe. All enjoyed her company & she will be greatly missed by all & has
been since being stricken with Alzheimer's.
Visitation will be from 2-6 Sunday 26 February at Brazzell Funeral Home in
Albion.
Funeral services will be Monday 27 February at llam at Asbury United
Methodist Church in Albion & calling 1 hour prior to service. Officiating the
funeral service will be pastor Bret Frymier.
Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery west of Albion after funeral services.

Preferred memorials are to Asbury United Methodist Church and/or Sweet
Church in Albion, Condololences can be made to the Leatherman family in care of
Brazzell Funeral Home, 771 Trail Ridge Rd., Albion, Indiana 46701.
