He and Anna Maria Schwabs were married on 19 September 1719 in Reformed Church, Leimen, Baden, Germany. He died on 25 March 1740, at age ~70, in Donegal Twp., Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Probate.

Generation No. 2

2. ANDREAS/ANDREW MEYSSEL/ MEIXEL/2 MIKESELL (JOHANN WOLFGANG1 MEYSSEL/MEIXEL/MIKESELL) was born 1670 in Leimen, Baden, Germany near Heidelberg, and died October 25, 1739 in Donegal, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He married (1) ANNA EVA HERZOG/HERTZOGIN March 17, 1704/05 in Reformed Church in Leimen, Baden, Germany, daughter of SEBASTIAN HERZOG/HERTZOGIN and ANNA WOLFHARDT. She was born Abt. 1674 in Eppingen, Kreis Sinsheim, Germany, and died May 09, 1719 in Leimen, Baden, Germany. He married (2) ANNA MARIA SCHWAB/SWOPE September 19, 1719 in Reformed Church in Leimen, Baden, Germany, daughter of JOST SCHWAB and ANNA WOLFHARDT. She was born February 22, 1677/78 in Sinsheim, Heidelberg, Baden, Germany, and died 1748 in Leacock Twp., Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania (Orphans Court entry, Lancaster Co., Dec. 6, 1748.

Notes for ANDREAS/ANDREW MEYSSEL/ MEIXEL/ MIKESELL:
Both of Andrew's marriages were in the Leimen Church records. Later they were members of the Moravian Church, Lilitz, Lancaster, Penn.

Andreas/Andrew Meyssel/ Meixel/ Mikesell the 1st child of Johann Wolfgang Mikesell was married twice. The first marriage was to Anna Eva Herzog/Hertzogin. This union produced three children all born in Leiman Germany.

The second marriage was to Anna Maria Schwab also in Leiman, Baden Germany. There are 6 more children born to this family, making ten children in all.

It has been said that all of the Mikesell's in America are no doubt descended from Andreas/Andrew/Meyssel/Meixel/Mikesell, son of Wolfgang Meyssel. Andrew's sons, all German speaking and some of them Dunkards, others Luthern, Baptist and later on Mormans were hard working family men.

The Mikesell name was spelled many different ways but they were all in the same family.

The original Mikesell's were no doubt Swiss origin but they soon mingled and married first the Germans and then immigrants from other countries. It seems every Mikesell is related no matter how you spell the name.

Probate: 6 Dec 1748
Note:
Lancaster County, Pa., Probate Court Settlement for Andrew Mixel estate, filed 6 Dec 1748. Cash estate value at 322 pounds, less prior expenses and distributions, equalled 213 pounds or 21 pounds to each child. The mother, Anna Mary Mixel, appears also deceased by this time. The brief document lists all children, apparently in birth order. Jacob, Christiana, Martin, John, Andrew, Margaret, Eva, Conrad, Ann Mary and George.
(Orphan's Court, Lancaster Co., Pa., 6 Dec 1748.) This, discusses a road from near Lancaster, that Andrew Meixel's place was situated on. Andrew was Martin Meixel's father. There are also several other names that intertwine with Bushong, Whitmer, Stofer (Stauffer), Heller, Bear (Bair).

1738— ROAD, LANCASTER AND COVENTRY IRON WORKS

At the meeting of the Governor and Council on January 4, 1738 (See 4 Col. Rec. 267) they approved as a "King's Highway" the road laid out by their order, from Benjamin Witmer's near Lanaster (on the Lancaster High Road) to Coventry Iron Works on French Creek. A part of this road from Mechanicsburg to New Holland, was later the New Holland Pike. The road asked for began about the same place on the Old Provincial Road, where the new State Highway leaves that road (near Witmer's residence today) and struck north-by-east to Mechanicsburg. It was continued eastwardly-by-north and intersected the Clay and Hinkletown Turnpike, that is the Old Paxton Road about two miles northwest of Blue Ball, leaving New Holland a mile to the south. Then it adopted the Paxton Road to Blue Ball and then again turned east-by-north into Caernarvon Township by Evans' Mill and along the Conestoga by Churchtown, by Morgantown and on to French Creek. It is strange that, it should not have gone through New Holland; but the courses and distances lead it north of that town. The viewers appointed to lay it were men of eminence in those days. Those for the Lancaster end were: Thomas Edwards, Jacob Bear, Emanuel Carpenter, Hans Groff, Simon King and John Mendenhall.

The proceedings recite that a petition of sundry inhabitants of Lancaster County, was presented and read January 1737, setting forth the want of a high road from the town of Lancaster to Coventry Iron Works on French Creek, in Chester County, praying for viewer, etc. therefore viewers were appointed etc. This road was the result.

The persons named along its course were Benjamin Witmer, at the starting point; Jacob Heller (near now Mechanicsburg), George Line, ANDREW MEIXEL, Hans Good, Philip Sheaffer, Casper Stofer, Michael Ranck, Jacob Weaver, and others. These are within that stretch which lies between Mechanicsburg and Blue Ball. Further on Evan David's Run is mentioned and John Mendenhall both in East Earl. Then comes Nathan Evan's land at the western edge of Caernavon Township and then the upper branches of the Conestoga are reached and the various residents of Caernarvon Welsh settlement, among them: George Hudson, Thomas Williams, John Bowan, Thomas Morgan, Robert Ellis and other are mentioned. It finally reaches the county line and passes on to the French Creek

FIRST RECORD FOUND FOR HANS MICHAEL SINCE COMING TO AMERICA- NEED LAND RECORD.

1775- On 23 March 1775 Michael is mentioned in a land transaction made by Henry Binkley of Berks County, PA. (We need to get a copy of that transaction because there is one record (From the book The Generations of Henry and Eliza (Share) Binkley) that mentions that Hans Michael Binkley and his son Heinrich Binkley's had adjoining land.) It is said that Heinrich Binkley purchased his land in 1771 from Ludwig Schweitzer. See more under Heinrich Binkleys.

It appears that Hans Michael Binkley's land was lying in both, Cocalico Twp, Lancaster Co, PA and Heidleberg Twp, Berks Co, PA Seek a will and land records in both places.

1776- Again we have unclear records: "There were several Binkley families living in the vicinity of the Berks/Lancaster County line during the Rev. War period and one story relates that one of these Binkleys was taken from his sick bed by the soldiers and ill used to the point of death or dies as a result."
