Gilbert Bushong was the son of Henry Bushong and Esther Valentine. He was born on 2 December 1836 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and died on 10 December 1911 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. He was a farmer in Eden Twp., Lancaster County. Gilbert was a member of the Society of Friends (Quakers) and an abolitionist who helped, with family members Henry and Jacob Bushong, to run the Underground Railroad for runaway slaves during the Civil War at Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania.
Edith D. Kinsey Paxson was born on 14 January 1836 and died 2 December 1914 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. She was the second daughter of Elwood H. Paxson and Elizabeth Moore White. She married Gilbert Bushong on 20 December 1855. The Bushongs owned a farm along what is now Valley Road, Route 372, on the eastern side of Eden Twp. and received their mail at May Post Office. They are buried together at Sadsbury Meeting Cemetery in Chester County.

ROBERT E. HOSTETLER, 68, former director of the Pinellas County Bldg. Dept., died of melanoma at his residence, Cirus Ave., Clearwater, FL.
Mr. Hostetler, a licensed general contractor, was named county building director in 1971. At the time he was coordinator of a construction program at St. Petersburg Junior College. For nine years previous to his appointment he was a member of the county Building Advisory and Examining Board.
A registered architect, he left the Building Dept. in 1981 to open R. E. Hostetler Assoc., working as a consultant on such projects as Freedom Square near Seminole Mall.
He was born in Mansfield, OH, where his father was a junior high school teacher. He studied architecture at Miami University and Ohio State University. He moved to this area in 1952.
In World War II, he served in the Army Air Force.
Mr. Hostetler, a past president of the Clearwater Noon Lions Club, belonged to Skycrest Baptist Church, Clearwater, the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Bette J; a son, Sgt. 1st Class Damon, Atlanta; two daughters, Susan Humphreys and Meri-jo Gibson, both of Clearwater; his stepmother, Alice Hostetler, Mansfield; two sisters, Geraldine Lee, Sutherin, OR, and Norma Hopkins, Mansfield; five grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Rhodes & Wice Belcher Chapel. The funeral will be at the chapel with buial at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, Clearwater, FL. The family suggested memorial contributions to the Scholarship Fund, Skycrest Baptist Church, Clearwater.

"BETTE JANE SMITH HOSTETLER, 84, of Clearwater, died Saturday (Aug. 6, 2005)
at home under the care of the Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. She was born
in Shelby, Ohio, and came here in 1952 from Mansfield, Ohio. She attended
Ashland College in Ohio. She worked at Wright-Patterson Army Air Base during
World War II. She worked as a switchboard operator, accounting manager, store
manager and social worker. She was owner/operator of BobBette Bible Book Store.
Later, she was a family history author, researcher and lecturer and gave
genealogy presentations throughout Pinellas County. She conducted genealogical
research since 1968, lecturing since 1990. She published three books tracing
250 years of family history in America. She served on the executive board of
Woman's Club of Clearwater and the Pinellas Genealogy Society. She was a
founding member and board member of the Clearwater Lions Club Auxiliary and a
member of Skycrest Baptist Church. She was a contributing author to the Pinellas
Genealogist and was a member of the Ohio Genealogical Society and its Florida
chapter, the National Genealogical Society and the Florida State Genealogy
Society. She received the 2002 Largo Library Genealogy Volunteer of the Year
Award and the 2001 Pinellas Genealogy Society Unsung Hero Award. Survivors
include two daughters, Susan Humphreys, Dunedin, and Meri-jo Gibson, Clearwater;
a son, Damon, Clearwater; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Brandon Bushong, 27, Tahlequah
About 7 p.m., Bushong was driving a motorcycle west on Wagoner County Road 700 one mile south of County Road 312. The motorcycle crossed the center line, and it collided with a van driven by Melissa Schaliol, 60, of Wagoner, troopers said.
Bushong, who was not wearing a helmet, died at the scene.

A 27-year-old Harley Davidson rider died Saturday night after a collision with a van.
At approximately 7:22 on County Road 700 one mile south of County Road 312 in Wagoner County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports the driver of the motorcycle was heading westbound on County Road 700. A van was eastbound on County Road 700. The OHP reports the motorcycle driver crossed the center line of the roadway and struck the other vehicle. The victim was identified as Brandon Bushong from Tahlequah. He was pronounced dead on scene. Troopers say the victim's ability to drive was impaired by drinking. Those present in the van that was struck by the Harley Davidson, a 60-year-old and a 5-year-old were both transported to the Wagoner Community hospital in stable condition. Brandon Lee Bushong the son of Mike Lee and Gwen (Lovelace) Bushong was born September 4, 1986 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and departed this life on June 21, 2014 in Wagoner, Oklahoma at the age of 27 years 8 months and 17 days. Brandon enjoyed life and enjoyed hanging out with his family and friends. He loved riding his motorcycle, and he enjoyed fishing and loved to just go out and shoot his guns. He was a fun loving all American boy. He enjoyed every freedom that he was blessed with. Brandon touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents H.L. and Mary Ella Lovelace and Haston and Rhoda Bushong. He is survived by a loving family which includes his parents Mike and Gwen Bushong and Sister Misty.
