Abraham Strickler, known as Abraham, Sr., lived on the hill at the south end of the bridge an d opposite White House. His home still stands, as well as the White House where his son Henr y lived. Abraham, Sr. and other members of his family are buried near the old home on the hil l. After the death of Abrahsm. Sr. his son Abraham, Jr. lived here and he gave the White House across the river to his son Henry. This land opposite the White House is a part of the 100 0 acre tract first occupied by Abraham Strickler and was part of his Egypt Plantation. Fairfax conveyed it to Benjamin Strickler, son of Abraham, the pioneer, as his portion of his father's estate in 1756. Benjamin conveyed it to Abraham Strickler, whose widow and eldest son an d heir at law, sold it to Abraham Strickler, son of Joseph, in 1794.

Strother 837.50. Below Zirkledale Stock Farm are several old Strickler homesteads and a very old Kagey place, where Henry Kagey located in 1769. The Stricklers, we are told, knew the location of a silver mine in the adjacent Massanutten Mountain, and would occasionally make horseback trips to the Philadelphia mint, carrying silver ingots in their saddlebags. According to the story, these Stricklers learned the location of this silver mine from the Indians.

and deposing mind, memory and understanding knowing the uncertainty of life
and the Certainty of Death in order therefore to be as much composed as

First to my two GrandDaughters, Mary Ann Strickler and Betsy Ann Strickler
both Daughters of my Son Abram Strickler with whom I now live, I will and
bequeath to each one, a bedstead and bedding well furnished. Mary Ann's bed
Stands in the room that I lodge in, the one I desire Betsy Ann to have stands
above Stairs in a Small room Commonly Called Sally's.
It is also my will that my Granddaughter Mary Ann Strickler above named
Shall have my large walnut Chest,
Secondly, it is my will that my Son Abram Strickler Shall have all the
balance of my Estate without reserve, to be at his own disposal, provided however
that he alone Shall pay my funeral Expenses and all other Just debts that may
be against me after my death.
I do therefor make void and set aside any will or other instrument of
writing heretofore made or Signed by me which has for its object the disposal of
the whole or any part of my Estate above bequeathed, and do Ratify, Establish
and Confirm this and no other to be my last will and Testament.

Myers settled on the southwest quarter of Section 30, and Jacob and Isaac Bushong lived with him. John Bushoug and his wife, Anna, settled and died on Section 36, where their son, Simon, now lives. Isaac, who resides on Section 32, is the only one of the old stock living. The Bushongs were born in Virginia. Musser, a native of Pennsylvania, settled on the northwest quarter of Section 25, now owned by Simon Rodabaugh. His son, Jacob, resides southwest of the old farm.

John Summers, Jr., was born in May 1760 in Botetourt County, Virginia (formerly Augusta co.) He and Nancy Ann McMurtry were married. He and Nancy Ann McMurtry were divorced on 17 March 1812 in Barren County, Kentucky. He died in 1837, at age ~77, in Jackson County, Alabama.

John added from his fathers will - John Summers (Sr.). John Summers was born ca 1730, place Unknown but possibly VA or PA. He was married once to an Unknown about 1755. This was determined by the Revolutionary War Pension Application of John Summers Jr. John Summers Jr, states he was born in 1760.

John Summers Sr. married Isabella Young in 1761. She was the widow of Patrick Young. Isabella had 4 children, James, Sarah, Jannet and Alice. John had one son, John Jr. they married very shortly after the death of Patrick Young. As the counties changed they went from Augusta Co. to Botetourt Co., then Rockbridge Co. Later in 1773 they made a physical move to Washington Co, VA. In 1779-80 John Summers and family migrated to KY. Some of the counties we find John in is Fayette, Mercer, Clark, Green and Barren County.

John Summers Sr. died in Barren County KY, in 1806. The 1806 date has caused some confusion with the German Line of Summers they also have an 1806 date and a John.
