Clarence was 9 years old in the 1900 census of Ohio, Putnam County, Riley Township.
In 1910 he was still living at home, age 19, with his parents Hannibal & Mary Frances in Lima, Allen County of Ohio. He worked odd jobs as a laborer.
Shorty was a Sargeant in the Army when he was discharged in 1919. He served in WWI, we are unsure if Army or Air Force, trying to get that straightened out.
He was a welder by trade, electrical and aceteline.
He married Huldah May Klopfleisch, date unknown, and they had daughters Violet and Elizabeth.
He passed away in St. Rita's Hospital while living in Lima, Ohio.

Charles was the youngest child to Hannibal Fremont and Mary Frances Melchi Bushong.
He shows up in 1900 in the Ohio census as 6 months old with his parents and siblings Nellie M., Betsie, Clarence F. and John L. all in Putnam Co., Ohio and in Riley Township.
He again shows up in 1910 in Allen Co. Ohio and the city of Lima with his parents and brothers, Charles is 10.

In September of 1918 he registered for the draft for World War I. No record has been found that he actually went in.

In 1930 Charles is married and living in Detroit Michigan in Wayne Co. with wife Esther and a daughter. His marriage was probably around 1923 according to census information. The name of his daughter is hard to read, it looks like Waver Maie who is 6 years old. Also his father Hannibal is living with the family at this time.
In April of 1948 Charles was living in Pontiac Michigan according to another researcher and cousin.
Charles died at the age of 74 in Orlando Florida, tho he lived in Longwood. He worked for a Cadilac agency as a body man.
Semoran Funeral Home of Altamonte Springs cared for his funeral arrangements.
It is unknown at this time exactly where he was laid to rest but we are still looking.

Iris grew up in Gladwin, Michigan, where she enjoyed a simple life. She loved her Daddy with her whole heart and lost him when she was only 13 years old. No man ever replaced him in her heart. Now she sets on his lap forever. (Give Grandpa a kiss for me Mom.)

She was a majorette in high school and twirled a baton better than anyone I knew. Iris graduated from Gladwin High in 1953.

In 1954 she married her first husband (living) and had 2 daughters who are still stunned by the loss of her. She had 4 grand-children by these daughters and 5 great-grand-children. We all miss her VERY much.

In 1964 she married again and had a son who also gave her 3 beautiful grandchildren. Oh how she would dote on these kids if she were here.

Again in 1975 she remarried and had a 4th child who has also given her 3 beautiful grand-children. She had opportunity and time to meet one of them.

Iris would have given her life for any one of her children, unfortunately none of us could do the same for her. She lost her battle to cancer after about a year and a half, before which she also suffered a heart attack, resultant by-pass surgery, and a stroke. Her last couple years weren't fun.

In her absense many crocheted "Noggin Sockies" have been donated to St. Mary's cancer ward in her Memory.

Iris was an expert with any craft where she used a needle. She loved to knit and in her later years worked on knitting machines and produced alot of breath-taking garments. She didn't realize her many talents. She was a member of the "Knit-Wits" club of Freeland.

Iris loved to fish, and got as much pleasure out of watching someone else catch one as she did in landing one herself. She also loved hunting morels, and we spent many memorable hours poking thru the woods looking for the morsels.

The list goes on, but mainly her life was built around her family. She was a people person, but had the meekest personality and little self-confidence. She found a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus in her later years and had no fear of death. She is now safely home with her Lord and her "daddy" who she has missed for 50 years.

Her empathy for others was without measure.

Rest in peace Mom, I can't wait to see you again.

Mr. Gaston Breton, 73, of Haverhill passed away Sunday at the Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill.

He was born in Lime Ridge, Quebec, Canada son of the late Philibert and Clemence (Theberge) Breton.

Gaston was educated in Lime Ridge and moved to Haverhill in the early 1960’s. He was a very well known self employed finish carpenter and was the founder of the Zodiac Club on Emerson St. Haverhill. Mr. Breton was a member of the Kingston Vets Club and life member of the Crescent Yacht Club in Bradford.

He is survived by his wife Loralane (Murphy) Breton of Haverhill, sons Andre G. Breton and his wife Angela of Haverhill, Gaston Breton of Key West, FL, daughter Jacqueline Bushong of Englewood, FL, 2 brothers Henry Breton of Ontario and Andre Breton of Montreal, 5 grandchildren Howie Bushong of Laconia, NH, Andreu Breton of Haverhill, Christy Bushong of Laconia, Alyssa Breton of Haverhill, and Bailey Breton of Key West, many step children and step grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Service on Friday at 11:00 at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St. Haverhill. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, Kingston, NH.

Calling hours at the Funeral Home will be Thursday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.

Mrs. Vergie J. Oard, 78, of 2248 South M-30, Gladwin, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, in the Midland Hospital Center following a long illness. Born in Paulding County, Ohio, on October 15, 1896, she had spent most of her life in Gladwin County. The former Vergie Bushong, she was married to Boyd Oard on January 22, 1916, in Gladwin. He preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 1964.
Surviving are three sons, Orville and Gerald of Gladwin and Max of Beaverton; two daughters, Mrs. Roy (Mary Jane) Brushaber and Mrs. W. D. (Betty Jean) Myers, both of Beaverton; two sisters, mrs. Anna Smith of Lansing and Mrs. Margaret Casselman of Flintl; 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home in Gladwin. The Rev. THOMAS N. BUSHONG
MUIR - Thomas N. Bushong, 81, of 151 East Pewamo, died early Sunday
morning at the Ionia Memorial Hospital after being a patient three days.
Born in Pandora, Ohio, 21 May 1893, he was the son of James and Mary
Klein Bushong and attended school in Ohio. He served with the army in World
War I.
30 January 1919, he was married in Lyons, to Ida Mae Stiles who died in
December of 1973. Also preceding him in death was a daughter, Jean Corey.
He owned and operated a trucking service in the Pewamo area many years
and was retired from Fisher Body in Lansing in 1960 after working there 18
years.
He was a former school board member of the Pewamo public schools and
was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Surviving are two sons, Winthrop of Pewamo and William of Ionia; two
daughters, Mrs. Virginia Werner of Ionia and Mrs. Anne Fahey of Muir; 22
grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Virgie Oard of
Beverton, Mrs. Margaret Casselman of Mt. Morris and Mrs. Anna Smith of
Lansing.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 am at the St. Joseph Catholic
Church in Pewamo. Monsignor Thomas Bolger will officiate and interment will
be at the church cemetery in Pewamo.
Parish rosary will be recited Monday at 8 pm at the Hull Memorial

SERVICES HELD FOR BOYD OARD

Services were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home for Boyd Oard, 69, of Buckeye Township, who died Wednesday evening, Sept. 16, after an illness of one year. Born in Ottawa, Ohio, on Oct. 11, 1894, he came to Gladwin County in 1910. Mr. Oard was married on January 22, 1916, in Gladwin to the former Virgie Bushong who survives.
He was engaged in farming and also served for many years as secretary fo the Hay Township Unit and later of the Winegars High School board of education.
Survivors besides his wife include, two daughters, Mrs. Mary Jane Brushaber, and Mrs. Betty Jean Myers, of Beaverton; three sons, Orville, Max and Gerald, of Gladwin; one brother, James, of Beaverton; and three sisters, Mrs. Irene King, of Gladwin; and Mrs. Mullens and Mrs. Lydia Sullivan, of Montana; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Clara B. Bushong, 81, of 494 E. Sun Oil Road, Gladwin, died Monday, Jan. 12, in the Gladwin Area Hospital.

Born in Grout Township on June 6, 1894, she had spent her lifetime here. She was married to Robert C Bushong on Sept. 16, 1916, in Wadsworth, Ohio. He preceded her in death on September 15, 1951.

Surviving are three sons, Grover and Jim of Gladwin and John of Hart; one daughter, Mrs. Max (Mary) Thorington of Gladwin; 16 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.

Services were held today, Wednesday, at 1:30 p.m. from the Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Carl Lindberg officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery.

Mrs. Ida Mae Bushong, 72, of 151 East Pewamo, was dead on arrival at Ionia
County Memorial hospital Thursday evening. She had suffered a fatal heart
attack.
Born 9 October 1901, in Lyons Township, she was the daughter of Jesse and
Anna De La Vernge Stiles and attended Spaulding and Lyons schools. 30
January 1919, she was married to Thomas Bushong of Lyons and they lived in the
Pewamo and Lyons areas all their married lives. She was a member of the St.
Joseph Catholic Church of Pewamo and it's altar society and also belonged
to Blue Star Mothers of Pewamo.
Besides her husband, Thomas, she leaves two sons and two daughters, 22
grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren; brother Howard Stiles of Ionia and
two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Page of Lowell and Mrs. Bessie Patterson of Ionia.
Funeral services will be Monday at 20 am at St Joseph Catholic Church of
