Darla Gay (Dee) Bushong joined our Lord and Savior at 7:30 pm Thursday,
March 20, 2008. She was born February 16, 1963, in Odessa, TX to Wayne and
Nelda Winkler. She attended Permian High School and married the love of her
life, Doug Bushong in Odessa November 8, 1980. Doug and Dee welcomed their
only son, Justin Pete Bushong to the world on October 22, 1981. Justin
delighted Dee and Doug with the blessing of a granddaughter (Winter Haze) on
May 14, 2006. Dee enjoyed life and treasured her family and friends. She
will be remembered for her strong faith, upbeat humor, and love for animals.
Even during the last several years, while her fight with neurofibromatosis
claimed her eyesight and limited her freedom, she never failed to share a
smile with all she met. Dee leaves behind her husband: Doug Bushong; son:
Justin, granddaughter; Winter, her brothers: Darwin, Bruce, and Kent; her
mother: Nelda; grandmother: Georgia Handy; and many nieces and nephews.
Her family will mourn her loss. Dee also leaves too many friends to list,
many of whom were as close as family. Dee will be sorely missed. A
memorial service in celebration of Dee's life will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday,
March 26, 2008, at Odessa Bible Church, 2110 E. 10th St. Arrangements are
entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
