_THE THIRD GENERATION
_THE CHILDREN OF JOHANNES and EVA DOROTHEA (SEITZ) ECKMAN
_1. JOHANNES PAUL (ca1708-ca1776) [4751]
Johannes is the first son of Johannes and Eva Dorothea Eckman. He was born at Germany about 1708 and came to America with his parents and a younger brother, Hieronimus in 1727. Some show him as Johann Peter Eckman. In previous research there was confusion between Johannes the father, and the son, whereas the father was shown as being born in 1708 and dying in 1755. In reality, the birth date must have been for Johannes Jr., who is shown by other researchers as John Peter a younger brother to Hieronimus. The death date of 1755 was for the father as shown by his Will B1, page 96 left by the Johannes Eckman who died in 1755 and is buried at Eckman Cemetery at Strasburg, Lancaster Cty, Pa.
The 1708 birth date fits for Johannes Jr. That would make him 19 years old when he left Germany, and the Math Book given to him by his teacher would indicate he was in what is now Junior High School or about 14. Johannes married Mary Magdalena Bushong who was born in 1722 at Germany.
